With Season 2 coming sometime this year, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has teased an upcoming episode based around slashers.
Per Variety, Season 2 of the Addams Family series, centering around the eponymous Wednesday Addams, will have a "whole episode based off of slashers," says Ortega. The actress further promises fans that Wednesday Season 2 will be full of horror references and more ambitious than the first season. Ortega hinted that the first half of the upcoming season drew inspiration from films like Carrie, Prom Night, and Beetlejuice, which, coincidentally, had a recent legacy sequel starring Ortega. Like the first, this upcoming season will again see Tim Burton as executive producer and director for the season's first half.
Wednesday Season 2 will also be more visually impressive. Ortega states, "Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we've ever had." She also stated, "I feel like we kind of had a little bit more trust,...

Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday started filming in Ireland last May and is now making its way through post-production – and series star Jenna Ortega says that when the new season starts streaming, we can expect to see a lot of horror references in its episodes. There will even be an episode based on slasher movies!
Wednesday comes to us from Millar Gough Ink, Tim Burton Productions, Toluca Pictures, and MGM Television, and is described as a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore. The Wolf of Snow Hollow, one of modern horror's most underappreciated movies, will land on Tubi next February. Considering Leigh Whannell's newest adaptation of the horror subgenre, Wolf Man, wasn’t exactly as acclaimed as everyone hoped, we still have to rely on the werewolf movies that can make an impact. Jim Cummings' The Wolf of Snow Hollow is one of them.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow can be streamed for free on the platform with one of the finest collections in today's streaming landscape. Other horror titles that have also recently joined the free service include two Stephen King movies (Misery and The Boogeyman), and both the 1979 and 2005 versions of The Amityville Horror. In terms of other genres, you will also be able to stream 1984's The Terminator, the legacy sequel Bill & Ted Face The Music, and dramas like Monster's Ball and Selena.

"The Big Bang Theory" ran for 12 years and as many seasons, and as a result, it featured plenty of guest stars along the way. Some, like Wil Wheaton, played themselves, and if we're talking about Wheaton, the show also played host to a ton of "Star Trek" veterans ... but some people played clearly defined characters, as was the case with Riki Lindhome. She first appeared as Ramona Nowitzki but returned much later in season 10. It's a pretty big gap between seasons, but it was all by design.
In an interview with TVGuide just before the season 10 finale, showrunner and executive producer Steve Molaro explained that Lindhome's return as Ramona was specifically meant to cause conflict in Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) slow-moving romantic relationship with Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). Back in season 2, Ramona made it abundantly clear — to everybody...

Nevermore Academy will soon be back in session. Filming for Season 2 of Netflix's amusingly macabre hit series Wednesday wrapped in late November, and its highly-anticipated premiere is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
The show's first season came out back in 2022. Almost immediately, it revived long-time Addams' Family fans as well as bewitched an entirely new generation with its endearingly morbid, iconic lead, Wednesday Addams (expertly deadpanned by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Jenna Ortega). It follows her during her teenage years when she is sent to a boarding school for outcasts with supernatural abilities. Shortly after her arrival, Wednesday descends into an increasingly treacherous mystery. Becoming one of Netflix's most-watched original series on their platform, it's unsurprising that fans are eager to see what else is in store for the death-obsessed, psychic teen and her cohort of Nevermore misfits.
Although there hasn't been too much announced yet, we do know that...

The Big Bang Theory was one of the biggest sitcoms on television through the 2000s and 2010s. Airing for 12 seasons from 2007 through 2019, the show spawned a prequel spin-off, Young Sheldon, which led to its own sequel spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Running gags were par for the course in The Big Bang Theory, and one of these was the elevator in the building where Sheldon (Jim Parsons), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) lived. It was always out of service, resulting in the residents having to travel on multiple flights of stairs to get to and from their apartments. However, there’s an interesting backstory to the elevator in The Big Bang Theory and a surprisingly deep meaning as a plot device.
The History of the Elevator and Cause of Its Malfunction
As noted, from the very first episode, the elevator in the building was out of service.

It's not an understatement to say that, throughout "The Big Bang Theory," the romantic relationships between the main characters are rocky. Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and his eventual wife Penny (Kaley Cuoco) break up quite a bit before they finally get married in season 8, and during that same season, the writing team on "The Big Bang Theory" decided to (temporarily) split up the stubborn, often thoughtless Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and his first-ever girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik). According to Jessica Radloff's 2022 book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," Parsons, for his part, really hated this storyline.
During season 8 — specifically, the episode "The Commitment Determination" — Sheldon and Amy argue over the fact that he's simply not present in their relationship (to the point where he tells her he thinks about the comic book character The Flash while they're kissing). Frustrated with...

Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has officially wrapped production. Before this, the latest update on the sophomore season set at Nevermore Academy involved the guest appearance of a certain Mother Monster.
After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. It eventually became the most-watched original series ever on the streamer, with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things Season 4, Dahmer, and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.
Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

Blumhouse Productions has created a name for itself in the movie industry by releasing high-quality, popular horror films. Unfortunately, 2024 came with a mixed offering and one title set an unfortunate event that seems to change thanks to streaming.
Blumhouse premiered several horror titles in 2024, including the critically acclaimed remake Speak No Evil, with an 83% approval rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but also Imaginary, with an unfortunate 24% approval score, and Afraid, which has a 22% score from the critics. Afraid set a series of unfortunate records for Blumhouse, but it proved to be a success on streaming following its release on Netflix. Now, its success continues, as Afraid ended its first week on the streaming platform in the tenth spot in the U.S. for the week between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1, according to Netflix.

Wednesday's filming update suggests the series might return at a perfect time next year. Season 1 of the Netflix hit series that stars Jenna Ortega as the titular character and Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair aired in November 2022. Though the series was a huge success, due to Covid-19, writers' strikes and other roadblocks, production for Wednesday season 2 didn't start until May 2024.
According to WhatsonNetflix's official X account, Wednesday has wrapped filming for season 2, which seems to indicate the perfect timing for the series' return. Season 1 of the hit Netflix series wrapped production on March 30, 2022, but the series wasn't released until eight months late in November. With post-production taking a while, it's likely the series won't return until fall next year, which means Wednesday season 2 might just be in time for the spooky season.

Singer/songwriter Lady Gaga didn’t have anything to do with the first season of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday, but when video clips of Jenna Ortega’s “Goo Goo Muck” dance scene went viral, many fans replaced The Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck” with a sped-up version of Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary.” So Wednesday and Lady Gaga have been connected for a while now – and that connection is going to be deepened with the now-in-production season 2, as Deadline reports that Lady Gaga has been added to the cast of the show! Details on the character she’ll be playing have not been revealed.

Eagle-eyed viewers will quickly notice how innovative technology gets presented in a movie, as these depictions often have fascinating behind-the-scenes circumstances to explain them. While in todays modern technology world, characters using phones, computers, and different types of technology is a given, there are usually massive corporations behind the scenes making important decisions about how their tech is being used. This can lead to a positive viewer perception of the highlighted tech and provide a level of product placement that subconsciously influences consumers' habits.
While technology has been central to some of the best sci-fi movies of all time, its also just as prevalent in murder mysteries, biopics, and laugh-out-loud comedies. Although audiences arent always privy to these behind-the-scenes deals, information has slowly leaked out about the true nature of strict rules that tech companies force filmmakers to follow. Even if viewers dont notice that the bad guys never use Apple products,...

City of Hope Gala Delivers an Elton John Set, David Blaine’s Magic and Surprise Cameo by Celine Dion

Two legends turned up at City of Hope’s Spirit of Life gala on Tuesday night.

Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday has been filming in Ireland since May, and Netflix has just unveiled a video that gives a glimpse behind the scenes. In the process, they have also confirmed that the new batch of episodes will premiere sometime in 2025. Among the cast and crew members seen in the video are, of course, star Jenna Ortega, as well as director Tim Burton – and during a chat with Collider, Al Gough (who created this series with Miles Millar) revealed that Burton is directing half of season 2, which is the same thing he did for the first season. That means Burton is at the helm of four of the season’s eight episodes.

Sony had been planning to give director Chris Weitz’s horror film They Listen a theatrical release on August 25th of 2023, but in May of last year they decided to delay the release an entire year, pushing They Listen to August 30, 2024. By the time that date rolled around, the movie had been given the new title Afraid (or AfrAId)… and neither the new title nor the new release date worked out for the movie at the box office, because it only ended up making $9 million at the global box office. Just two weeks after its theatrical release, Afraid has now been given a digital release and is available for rent on Amazon’s Prime Video for $9.99. It can also be purchased for the price of $14.99.

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:
Title
Johnson got the title Knives Out from a Radiohead song. When it came time to make the sequel Glass Onion, he got the title from a song by The Beatles. So it’s only fitting that the third film in the franchise have a song-inspired title as well. But while Radiohead and The Beatles were from England,...

Jenna Ortega addresses how Wednesday season 2 will deal with Xavier's absence. Ortega teases new challenges and alliances in season 2 with the introduction of many new characters. Xavier's absence in Wednesday season 2 helps fix season 1's romantic drama focus.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega addresses the absence of her co-star Percy Hynes White in season 2 of the hit Netflix series. In season 1, Hynes White played Xavier Thorpe, a psychic peer of Ortega's Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy, and one of the series' most prominent characters. Following multiple accusations of sexual assault, which he denied, Hynes White was not brought back for season 2.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega briefly spoke about Hynes White not being in season 2 and the impact it has on the series. She said that the actor's absence has been "a weird redirect, but we're introducing so many different characters that I think it will get kind of lost.

It’s almost August, which means two things: It’s the last month of the summer movie season, and we’re into the traditional “Dog Days of Summer” when studios often dump a lot of crap in hopes that moviegoers, at least those not taking their last-minute vacations, might go see them. Oddly, this month we also have a number of original films with just two franchise reboots, and a couple movies based on popular books and one video game. Read on for Gold Derby’s August 2024 box office preview.

Fred Armisen and Riki Lindhome are married — and have been for two years.
The Wednesday co-stars had known each other for 15 years before they started dating in early 2022. Lindhome recalled to People that she could tell she was having feelings for Armisen on the set of the hit Netflix series but didn’t think she could pursue a relationship because she was expecting a baby via surrogate.
“I wanted to go on a date,” she told the publication. “That’s what I knew. So I was like, ‘Ok, let’s explore.’ Then, it unfolded naturally over time. I wasn’t like, ‘You’re the dad.’ I was like, ‘I want to have dinner with you.’ My thought was, ‘I want to kiss you. I want to see you.’ Then it just kept going.”

'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' stars Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen have joined a new musical parody. The two actors - who played Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee respectively alongside Gene Wilder in the original 1971 movie - will take part in a live stage reading of 'Willy's Candy Spectacular', which is inspired by the disastrous 'Willy's Chocolate Experience' event in Glasgow earlier this year. The upcoming musical parody will perform live stage readings at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with the former child stars each stepping in as narrators.Cole will be part of the cast from August 9 to 18, with Themmen then stepping into the role from August 19 to 26.The musical is inspired by the real life 'Wonka' event which was originally advertised as an "immersive experience" as organisers promised a "magical realm" for visitors.Although the promotional material was full of promise thanks to AI-generated images,...

The infamous Willy Wonka experience is making its way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a parody musical. More here.
There are few films as universally beloved as 1971’s Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (pictured). Despite author Roald Dahl reportedly hating the film, the public took it to their hearts, with classic songs like Pure Imagination entering the public consciousness.
Even though we now how three screen Wonkas – Gene Wilder, Johnny Depp and Timothee Chalamet (four if you count this) – Wilder’s Wonka is generally considered the definitive version. Tim Burton’s 2005 film, while closer in tone to the book, divided fans, not least due to Depp’s portrayal of Wonka, although it’s certainly true that Tim Burton’s visual style and updated special effects bring the chocolate factory to life in a way the 1971 film couldn’t.
Then, last year’s Wonka made people fall in love...

Because memes never truly die, the disastrous Willy Wonka exhibit that spawned such viral images as the sad Oompa Loompa and ‘The Unknown’ now has a fully produced musical parody on the way titled Willy’s Candy Spectacular. Because that alone isn’t absurd enough, original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory actors Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen have officially joined the cast.
Cole and Themmen, who respectively portrayed Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee in the 1971 classic, will serve as narrators in live stage readings of Willy’s Candy Spectacular, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The readings are set to go down at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with Cole leading the production from August 9th to August 18th and Themmen taking over from August 19th to August 26th.
Notably, Kirsty Paterson, the memed sad Oompa Loompa, is also set to appear. Other names involved include Shelly Regner (Pitch Perfect series), Eric Petersen,...

After more than 50 years, two actors are diving back into the world of Willy Wonka (sort of). Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen, two of the child stars of 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, will participate in a live stage reading of Willy’s Candy Spectacular, an upcoming musical parody inspired by a disastrous Wonka event that made international headlines earlier this year.
Cole played the insatiable Veruca Salt in the classic movie starring Gene Wilder as chocolatier Willy Wonka, while Themmen played the cowboy hat wearing Mike Teavee. Both will participate in a live reading at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, serving as narrators. Cole will lead the cast from Aug. 9 to 18, with Themmen stepping in from Aug. 19-26.
Willy’s Candy Spectacular was inspired by a real-life Wonka event in Scotland, which organizers advertised as “immersive experience” that would transport Willy Wonka fans to a “magical realm.

Un asistente digital que anticipa tus necesidades… © Sony Pictures

Have you ever thought about how you can’t spell ‘afraid’ without AI? Because writer-director Chris Weitz certainly has. His new technophobe triggering thriller Afraid — formerly titled They Listen — sees John Cho and Katherine Waterston star as a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when they sign their family up to trial a (quite literally) killer new home AI assistant. Check out the sinister first trailer for the Blumhouse movie below;
Don't mind us, we're just quietly yeeting every one of our smart devices into the sea after that — yikes! Right from the get-go, there's sketchy vibes surrounding Aia, the smart home assistant Curtis (Cho) and his family receive here. “I’m not crazy about having them everywhere,” says Curtis’ wife (Waterston) as little eyes are mounted around her home. And so she shouldn't be. In this first look at the film, the soft-spoken Aia very quickly cranks...

Ever worry Alexa is going to turn on us all one day? That’s the gist of Afraid, a new science fiction horror film produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.
In Afraid, John Cho and Katherine Waterston play a married couple with a young son (Isaac Bae) and a teenage daughter (Lukita Maxwell) who get an AI-powered digital family assistant called Aia installed into their home. Aia functions a lot like Amazon’s Alexa, but it uses AI to complete more complicated tasks like paying bills and motivating the kids to do their chores. Quickly, however, Aia’s powers and control over the family begin to grow, taking retribution against anyone who threatens the kids and bringing her mysterious “friends” to the house.
The film’s official logline reads, “In Afraid, Curtis (John Cho) and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called Aia.
