With Season 2 coming sometime this year, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has teased an upcoming episode based around slashers.

Per Variety, Season 2 of the Addams Family series, centering around the eponymous Wednesday Addams, will have a "whole episode based off of slashers," says Ortega. The actress further promises fans that Wednesday Season 2 will be full of horror references and more ambitious than the first season. Ortega hinted that the first half of the upcoming season drew inspiration from films like Carrie, Prom Night, and Beetlejuice, which, coincidentally, had a recent legacy sequel starring Ortega. Like the first, this upcoming season will again see Tim Burton as executive producer and director for the season's first half.

Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday has been filming in Ireland since May, and Netflix has just unveiled a video that gives a glimpse behind the scenes. In the process, they have also confirmed that the new batch of episodes will premiere sometime in 2025. Among the cast and crew members seen in the video are, of course, star Jenna Ortega, as well as director Tim Burton – and during a chat with Collider, Al Gough (who created this series with Miles Millar) revealed that Burton is directing half of season 2, which is the same thing he did for the first season. That means Burton is at the helm of four of the season’s eight episodes.

Wednesday comes to us from Millar Gough Ink, Tim Burton Productions, Toluca Pictures, and MGM Television, and is described as a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years...

Sony had been planning to give director Chris Weitz’s horror film They Listen a theatrical release on August 25th of 2023, but in May of last year they decided to delay the release an entire year, pushing They Listen to August 30, 2024. By the time that date rolled around, the movie had been given the new title Afraid (or AfrAId)… and neither the new title nor the new release date worked out for the movie at the box office, because it only ended up making $9 million at the global box office. Just two weeks after its theatrical release, Afraid has now been given a digital release and is available for rent on Amazon’s Prime Video for $9.99. It can also be purchased for the price of $14.99.

Jenna Ortega confirms that Wednesday season 2 will bring back one key aspect of her character. Netflix's first attempt at the Addams Family spinoff show was released back in 2022, becoming a near-instant success. The show saw Ortega in the leading role, in a part that earned her her first Emmy nomination. Rian Johnson is celebrating the end of filming for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Story, the third installment in the murder mystery franchise.

In a new social media post, Johnson shared that filming for the film starring Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc has finished.

“Aaaand that’s a wrap on Wake Up Dead Man. Went so fast! Best crew, incredible cast, this was a really special shoot and I cannot wait to put it together,” Johnson shared in a post on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter.

Johnson also shared a photo with a sign that read, “Please be mindful of graves.”

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega addresses the absence of her co-star Percy Hynes White in season 2 of the hit Netflix series. In season 1, Hynes White played Xavier Thorpe, a psychic peer of Ortega's Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy, and one of the series' most prominent characters. Following multiple accusations of sexual assault, which he denied, Hynes White was not brought back for season 2.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega briefly spoke about Hynes White not being in season 2 and the impact it has on the series. She said that the actor's absence has been "a weird redirect, but we're introducing so many different characters that I think it will get kind of lost.

“Alien: Romulus” (20th Century – Aug. 16)

Uruguyan filmmaker Fede Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe”) is the latest director to take over this long-running horror sci-fi franchise that began all the way back in 1979 with Ridley Scott‘s “Alien.” Scott is still involved as a producer after directing “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant” in 2012 and 2017, respectively, the former being the highest-grossing movie in the franchise with $402.4 million worldwide.

Tina Romero, the daughter of late film director George A. Romero, has set her next project. It's a horror comedy titled Queens of the Dead, and Love Lies Bleeding's Katy O’Brian and many other talented actors are set to star.

Described as a queer zombie film, Romero helms Queens of the Dead from a screenplay she co-wrote with Erin Judge. In addition, Vanishing Angle is the film production company behind the movie, and Creativity Capital is financing it.

The film's plot revolves around a group of drag queens, club kids, and frenemies who are forced to put their differences aside and band together to survive a zombie apocalypse that breaks out during their drag show in Brooklyn, New York.

Earlier this year we told you about Tina Romeros Queens of the Dead, a fresh new take on the zombie genre made famous by her father, the late George A. More news on the project has come to light, as the film has assembled a star-studded cast to help bring the young Romeros vision to life in what promises to be a fun romp filled with practical effects, jump scares, and yes slow moving zombies.

Per Deadline, Queens of the Dead has lined up Katy OBrian (Love Lies Bleeding), Margaret Cho (Fire Island), Brigette Lundy-Paine (I Saw The TV Glow) and Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story) to star in the new picture, which is produced by Vanishing Angle, whose previous credits include the 2022 Shudder Original, Spoonful of Sugar, the 2023 sci-fi action thriller, The Park, and 2021s outrageously funny horror-comedy, Werewolves Within.

Fred Armisen and Riki Lindhome are married — and have been for two years.

The Wednesday co-stars had known each other for 15 years before they started dating in early 2022. Lindhome recalled to People that she could tell she was having feelings for Armisen on the set of the hit Netflix series but didn’t think she could pursue a relationship because she was expecting a baby via surrogate.

“I wanted to go on a date,” she told the publication. “That’s what I knew. So I was like, ‘Ok, let’s explore.’ Then, it unfolded naturally over time. There are few films as universally beloved as 1971’s Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (pictured). Despite author Roald Dahl reportedly hating the film, the public took it to their hearts, with classic songs like Pure Imagination entering the public consciousness.

Even though we now how three screen Wonkas – Gene Wilder, Johnny Depp and Timothee Chalamet (four if you count this) – Wilder’s Wonka is generally considered the definitive version. Tim Burton’s 2005 film, while closer in tone to the book, divided fans, not least due to Depp’s portrayal of Wonka, although it’s certainly true that Tim Burton’s visual style and updated special effects bring the chocolate factory to life in a way the 1971 film couldn’t.

Because memes never truly die, the disastrous Willy Wonka exhibit that spawned such viral images as the sad Oompa Loompa and ‘The Unknown’ now has a fully produced musical parody on the way titled Willy’s Candy Spectacular. Because that alone isn’t absurd enough, original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory actors Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen have officially joined the cast.

Cole and Themmen, who respectively portrayed Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee in the 1971 classic, will serve as narrators in live stage readings of Willy’s Candy Spectacular, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Julie Dawn Cole and Paris Themmen, two of the child stars of 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, will participate in a live stage reading of Willy’s Candy Spectacular, an upcoming musical parody inspired by a disastrous Wonka event that made international headlines earlier this year.

Cole played the insatiable Veruca Salt in the classic movie starring Gene Wilder as chocolatier Willy Wonka, while Themmen played the cowboy hat wearing Mike Teavee. Both will participate in a live reading at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, serving as narrators. Cole will lead the cast from Aug. 9 to 18, with Themmen stepping in from Aug. 19-26.

In Afraid, John Cho and Katherine Waterston play a married couple with a young son (Isaac Bae) and a teenage daughter (Lukita Maxwell) who get an AI-powered digital family assistant called Aia installed into their home. Aia functions a lot like Amazon’s Alexa, but it uses AI to complete more complicated tasks like paying bills and motivating the kids to do their chores. Quickly, however, Aia’s powers and control over the family begin to grow, taking retribution against anyone who threatens the kids and bringing her mysterious “friends” to the house.

The film’s official logline reads, “In Afraid, Curtis (John Cho) and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called Aia.
