Network TV dramas love suspense. These shows are designed to leave questions unanswered for as long as possible, bringing viewers back time after time with teases and cliffhangers before finally explaining themselves with a flashback episode or big reveal. It's a tried and true formula; the mystery is sweet, but the emotional payoff (and the "I told you so" that comes with a correct guess) is sweeter.

July saw many adapted stories head to screens both large and small, sourced from novels, comic books and more, and August is no different with a bevy of book adaptations on the horizon.

Last month gave us adaptations of Delia Owens’ wildly popular novel “Where the Crawdads Sing” , Mark Greaney’s spy thriller “The Gray Man” and in series form “Paper Girls” on Prime Video starring Ali Wong and Jason Mantzoukas.

August also has a slate of book adaptations landing in theaters and on streamers. Two of them came from graphic novels, and one might sound familiar to fans of George R. R. Season 3 of Netflix’s Locke & Key will premiere August 10, the streamer revealed today as part of its annual Geeked Week. As Deadline revealed exclusively in April, the upcoming third season will be the supernatural thriller series’ last. Netflix also released a teaser trailer that gives a first look at Locke & Key‘s final chapter.

According to Deadline, Netflix, along with "Locke & Key" co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill, had already mapped out the series for a three-season run following the breakout success from season one.

Based on the comic books of the same name, “Locke and Key” follows the three Locke children who, following their father’s death, move from Seattle to his family home in Massachusetts. They soon discover magical keys hidden throughout the house — appropriately called Keyhouse — that can be used to unlock secret doors. However, a demonic presence is in search of the keys as well. Season 3 of the fantasy horror series is set to release on the streamer this year.

Exclusive: The upcoming third season of Netflix’s Locke & Key will be its last. But fans of the supernatural thriller based on the Idw comic books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez should not fret — they will get a proper conclusion since Season 3 was conceived as the show’s final chapter. In fact, I hear that, following the breakout success of Locke & Key‘s ten-episode first season, Netflix approached the series’ creative team with a plan for a three-season run consisting of a 10-episode second season and an eight-episode third season. That fit the vision of Locke & Key executive producers/co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill for how to tell the story and when to wrap it.

The Netflix series "Locke & Key" has officially begun production on season 3, according to an Instagram post from the official Netflix account. It also gives us a peek at the season 3 logo. In the post it says:

On Monday night, NCIS star Mark Harmon ended his run as a series regular on CBS’ long-running procedural drama, with his character, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, opting out of a future in law enforcement.

Episode 1904, “Great Wide Open,” saw Gibbs and Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) out in Alaska, solving a case involving a contract killer hired by a local company. In the aftermath, Gibbs informed his partner and NCIS Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) that he’d be staying out on The Last Frontier indefinitely.

“I’m not going back, Tim,” Gibbs said while fishing. “I’m not going back home.”

There will be much more trauma for the Locke family before this story comes to a close!

Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Locke & Key Season 2, and it teases a lot of big moments for the family.

Dodge is still well and truly a part of the story, taking over bodies and causing a lot of mayhem for everyone concerned.

But Nina Locke has primarily been in the dark about what the kids have been getting up to, and it looks like she'll be getting some answers throughout the second season.

Nina has been none the wiser about many things, but it's clear she can't shake the feeling that more than she's being led to believe is happening.

It also begs the following question:

How will she react to everything that has happened?

The demon known as Dodge is looking to finish what it started in Locke & Key Season 2 — and it’s ready to forge some wicked new keys to do it!

Hallmark Channel announced that former “Desperate Housewives” stars James Denton and Teri Hatcher are reuniting in the upcoming original film “A Kiss Before Christmas.” The film will premiere during Hallmark Channel’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” programming event. This is the first time the pair has worked together since the “Desperate Housewives” series ended in 2012.

“A Kiss Before Christmas” follows the story of Ethan Holt (Denton), a real estate development executive and married father with two teens, who learns he’s losing out on a promotion on Christmas Eve. Due to his laments paired with some Christmas magic, Holt awakes the next morning to find that his life is entirely different. He’s no longer married to his wife Joyce (Hatcher), doesn’t have his children and is CEO of his company. He has only a day to reclaim his original life.

Netflix just released a full-length trailer for the upcoming second season of Locke & Key (you can catch it below), and it provides a glimpse at a major new character played by Kevin Durand.

The Swamp Thing and The Strain alum has been tapped as a series regular for Seasons 2 and 3 of Locke & Key. He plays Frederick Gideon, a ruthless, charismatic, and cunning British Revolutionary War Captain, who becomes a dangerous adversary for the Locke Family. Season 2 debuts Oct 22, while production wrapped last month in Toronto on Season 3.

This marks Durand’s third series collaboration with Locke & Key executive producer/co-showrunner Carlton Cuse. Durand previously starred as Vasiliy Fet, a rat exterminator-turned-vampire hunter, on Cuse’s FX drama The Strain and recurred as mercenary Martin Keamy on ABC’s Lost, on which Cuse served as co-showrunner.

HBO Max announced that Season 2 of “Love Life” will premiere Oct. 28 with its first three episodes.

Then, the second three episodes of the 10-episode season will stream on Nov. 4, with the final four concluding on Nov. 11.

The second season of the romantic dramedy centers on Marcus Watkins (William Jackson Harper), who comes out of a years-long relationship and is forced to once again look for the perfect love he thought he had already found.

“Locke & Key” Season 2 has finally received a premiere date and a chilling new teaser from Netflix.

The second season of the fantasy series, which will consist of 10 episodes total, will debut Oct. 22 on Netflix, the streaming service revealed in Tuesday’s date announcement video.

Netflix is reopening the doors of Keyhouse this fall. The second season of Locke & Key will premiere in October, the streamer announced on Tuesday. A specific date is not yet known.

Are you ready to return to Keyhouse?

Netflix on Tuesday announced Locke & Key Season 2 would finally receive its debut this October.

While the exact date has not been revealed, it's nice to know the series will be back on the air by the end of the year.

The announcement was made as part of the streamer's GeekedWeek event, which features announcements about its genre offerings.

While fans have been waiting a while for updates on the second season, Netflix did announce last year that it had already ordered up a third season.

“[EPs] Carlton [Cuse] and Meredith [Averill] have built an incredible world in Locke & Key, and we’re excited to have the Lockes return for more in the third season,” said Brian Wright, vice president of overall deals at Netflix in December, while Cuse added:

“Locke & Key” Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in October, the streaming service revealed during its “Geeked Week” presentation on Tuesday.

Also unveiled were the first-look photos for the fantasy show’s second season, which you can see below.

The “Locke & Key” portion of Tuesday’s stream kicked off with a sizzle reel for the first season, followed by videos from the members of the Locke family on the Season 2 set. That’s when we got the second season release month.

“There’s more keys, more mystery and more alohas on the way,” Stanchfield said, before the video cut to Scott saying “Aloha” and throwing up his middle fingers. Then Stanchfield introduced the images above.
