MATT JOHNSON is a two-time Emmy Award winning Showrunner, Executive Producer and Writer with over three decades of experience in film, television, stage, and global live events. He served as the Showrunner and Head Writer of the acclaimed "Kitten Bowl" franchise for Hallmark Channel and Co-Executive Produced its spin-off series "Cat Bowl" for its first two seasons. In partnership with Amblin, NBC/Universal, and Toniebox, Matt recently wrote the new "Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous" and "Secret Garden" audio-drama series, both debuting in 2025 - and is currently developing a new scripted franchise with the same team to debut in over 50 countries for World Cup 2026. Upcoming projects include "Tee's Pot's" - a feature film he created and co-wrote for Hallmark Channel celebrating adoption and Chinese tea pottery.
Matt is a former chair of Diversity & Inclusion for the Producers Guild, and for the past two years has served on the Television Academy Honors Committee, recognizing programs that inspire and drive social change. Recent career highlights include a Network Executive role as Senior Director of Production and Operations for PBS Southern California, where he led award-winning documentary and family programming - with Production earning 7 Emmys and 19 LA Press Club Awards during tenure.
Other career highlights include spearheading productions for The Grammy Awards, Formula 1 Las Vegas, Riot Games global shows, Billboard Music Awards, Wheel Of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Super Bowl campaigns for Fortune 500 clients at Deutsch LA.
Notable film projects include "Manipede", "Butterflies", "True Fiction", "Final Call", "The Goth Next Door", "Chalk", and "Texas". Matt also partnered with Bruce Willis and Weimar Pictures for "Bruce Willis: Why The Legend Never Dies", a documentary feature film which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was distributed by VOX Germany. He also produced the award-winning PBS documentary special "The Greatest Bond", which explores the impact of service dogs on military veterans.
In 2024, Matt celebrated over two decades as Founder and Executive Director of "New Frequency" - a modern radio drama company with sold-out performances and over 200 original audio episodes for SiriusXM, including six albums.
He is a native Texan and son of a WWII veteran, whose educational journey includes studies and degrees at the University of Texas and the Royal National Theatre of London.
