The actress portrayed the fan-favorite role of Laurel Lance/Black Canary on The CW's Arrow for four seasons before she was killed off in 2016. During an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Cassidy went into detail about her Arrow character being killed off and how she found out about it. News of a character's death was teased at the start of the season, but Cassidy didn't think it would be her. Katie Cassidy played Arrow's Laurel Lance and while her transformation into Black Canary was a little convoluted, fans embraced the character and weren't happy when she died in season 4.
That came as part of the big "Who's in the grave?" mystery that lasted right up until Damien Darhk killed Lauren in a moment that faced a significant amount of backlash at the time.
During an interview with Michael Rosenbaum, Cassidy reflected on being dropped from the series and initially not being concerned about Black Canary being in the grave when the season 4 premiere aired. However, things changed in the build to that year's New York Comic Con.

With her role as Laurel Lance, also known as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy played one of the biggest roles on the hit Arrowverse series Arrow. At one point, however, she was killed off, a decision that gave her a flurry of emotions at the time.
Cassidy discussed her time on Arrow during a recent interview for the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, per Deadline. She recalled how she learned of Black Canary's death in 2016 after she served as a big part of Arrow for the first four seasons. Famously, the season started with the reveal that a character's death would happen, though it wasn't until later that it was revealed to be Laurel. Despite that big tease, Cassidy was still quite shocked when she realized she was the one on the chopping block.

Before James Gun rebooted all of DC’s media, the Arrowverse was the staple shared continuity of DC’s super heroes on tv. The series of connected tv shows, which began when Arrow premiered on the CW back in 2012, was arguably bigger and definitely better than any of Snyder’s Dceu films or projects.
For a long time, the shared TV shows allowed heroes such as Green Arrow and The Flash to interact and share a space on screen, with their yearly crossovers consistently growing in scale, you always had a guarantee of a big superhero team up. It wasn’t until the Elsewords crossover event that we got to see two of the big Justice League members interact however, and - if you thought you were freaking out - apparently so were the stars themselves.

Jared Padalecki joined the cast of Supernatural when he was 23 years old. The fantasy horror series ran for 15 seasons, and, by the end of the show, Padalecki was 38.
Both Padalecki and Ackles, who played Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, were young when the show started. The show's loyal fandom kept it on the air for so long, while the stars grew up, got married, and started their own families. During the Megacon Orlando, Jared Padalecki highlighted the importance and sacrifices he's made for Supernatural, per Cbr, who was at the convention.
Padalecki: “I think 20 years ago today, we were shooting the pilot. There were a lot of sacrifices. There’s been a lot of sh*t. But in hindsight, I’m so grateful to the [fans] because I was public with what I was going through and you were all supportive.‗ Cbr (@Cbr) February 9, 2025

Arrow stars Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey have revealed their favorite Arrowverse crossover. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, The CW series spawned a universe of interconnected shows, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman, with Supergirl and Black Lightning eventually joining the fold.
Rickards and Ramsey were at Megacon, where the pair responded to Cbr's question regarding which show they most enjoyed crossing over with the most. "I liked going to The Flash because they were so happy over there," Rickards said. Ramsey discussed the difficult logistics and problems with tonality that came with making The Flash and Arrow crossovers happen but still enjoyed them. He especially enjoyed seeing Amell in Grant Gustin's Flash suit. "They were logistical nightmares," he said. "The Flash was on the other side of the wall and couldn't be more different. It was bright and had milkshakes. Stephen in the Flash suit.

Tubi has become one of the world's most popular streaming services thanks to its ad-supported model. Certainly, people are more inclined to purchase premium subscriptions because they will be able to access exclusive content, although Tubi is just as good, if not better, than many streaming options. The reason for this is that there are plenty of movies available on the platform, and when they are divided into genres such as Western, action, horror, and comedy, you will find Tubi to be a highly reliant platform.
Speaking of action movies, there are hundreds of exciting action movies available across various streaming platforms, but Tubi offers them for free on a monthly basis, adding some of the most iconic titles to the roster despite being from third-party providers. Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan was integral to Supernatural during the show’s early days. Morgan played the role of John Winchester, the father of the Winchester brothers. While the brothers soldered on for fifteen seasons, going to Hell and back, Morgan’s character was unceremoniously killed off during the show’s second season.

In 2008, Liam Neeson's career changed forever with the release of the now-beloved action thriller Taken. The actor became widely known as the man with a particular set of skills, one that helps him rescue his daughter in a foreign country after she is kidnapped. The film spawned a full-fledged franchise with two sequels, but they failed to recapture the magic of the first. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped Taken fans from enjoying them all the same. And they will be able to do so on Hulu, when Taken and Taken 3 become available on the streaming platform starting February 1.
Currently available on Max before it arrives on Hulu, Taken was the film that started the pop culture phenomenon and made Neeson's ex-CIA agent a household name. The story follows Brian Mills as he travels to Europe in search of his missing daughter, Kim, played by Maggie Grace, who was kidnapped by human traffickers.

A popular trend in the movie world in recent years is major studios remaking their fan-favorite films from decades before. Although the idea has been popularized by Disney with their live-action remakes of their classic animated features, the trend extends far beyond the one company. Throughout Hollywood, filmmakers are aiming to capitalize on the pre-existing fan bases of their original movies. Oftentimes, putting a modern spin on a beloved classic seems like a surefire way to make a hefty profit.
However, a handful of attempts have proven that success is not a guarantee. Many recent remakes, particularly of films from the 1980s, have ended up massively underwhelming their audiences. Viewers flock to theaters hoping to see an exciting new twist on their favorite stories, but sadly discover that they are merely being given something boring, unoriginal, or otherwise disappointing. Quick Links Katie Cassidy Initially Starred as Ruby In Supernatural Supernatural Replaced Ruby in Season 4 The Show's Indecisiveness Led to Cassidy's Exit Ruby's Recast Was Heavily Criticized By Fans and Critics
Mid-series recasts can go either way, especially for long-running shows like Supernatural. It's not always a pleasant surprise for viewers to see an exceptionally well-adjusted character to be replaced by another actor. Similarly, when the brazen and sneaky Supernatural demon was recast in a critical season, fans didn't know what to think of it. Ruby had a significant contribution in turning Seasons 3 and 4 into one of the best in the series.
That's why when the fans saw the blonde demon switched with a brunette, it sent out a wave of confusion. Nonetheless, replacing the supporting cast is common practice, one which Supernatural made full use of when it replaced Katie Cassidy with an actress named Genevieve Cortese who later became Mrs.

Since its inception, Hollywood has made several films dedicated to stories of espionage, intelligence, and secret agencies. One of the most referenced real-world agencies in the film industry is the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), best known for carrying out American intelligence operations overseas. Despite its real-world mission statement to serve American national security interests, Hollywood doesn't always play up its best aspects.
The CIA has been cast in a variety of ways by Hollywood, from nefarious criminal conspiracies to daring rescue operations. Due to the shadowy nature of the agency in real life, its true nature has remained open to interpretation. Although some films heavily fictionalize both the capabilities and goals of the agency, others have opted for more realistic approaches. The agency has been the source of controversy, both on and off the film, but some movies have done a great job with it.

Sometimes, it takes time and space away from a movie to appreciate it for what it is. When the topic of fantasy TV shows arises, viewers tend to think of series like Game of Thrones and The Rings of Power examples that very clearly fit the genre. These shows tend to be high fantasy, and they take place in worlds full of the extraordinary. With so many projects trying to copy Game of Thrones' success, there's no shortage of straightforward fantasy stories to dive into. However, there are also great fantasy shows that blend their magical settings and themes with other genres.
Fantasy and horror are a common combination, as anything supernatural tends to fall into both categories. However, some series even successfully blend fantasy with sci-fi, romance, and comedy; the possibilities are endless. Dipping into multiple categories alone doesn't ensure these shows are good, though. Such projects need to strike the right balance of both genres to succeed, and only a handful of fantasy TV shows accomplish that.

It has been said that comedies are just dramas in disguise. In fact, the ability to evoke tears as well as laughter has long been held as a benchmark of success in movies, demonstrating that viewers will experience a broad array of emotions within a single story. Even so, audiences are still caught off-guard when they come across a movie that actually can make them laugh out loud and shed some tears along the way.
While some might be classified under the hybrid tragicomic genre, many popular films draw audiences in with the promise of laughter and a good time. They then surprise viewers with the depth of their stories, evoking strong emotions along with the characters. For Katie Cassidy, Arrow was more than just a launchpad for her acting career. The opportunity arose when she was facing personal struggles, it came as a light during dark times, in a period when she needed it the most. It was a challenging crossroad, where she could either enter a new phase, or sulk in the misery of her emotional struggles.

The CW was a hub for all sorts of programming, and it wasn’t unheard of for actors to jump from one show on the network to another. Supernatural‘s own Jensen Ackles was on Smallville for CW before he was on Supernatural, but the journey seems to have been reversed for one of the stars of the IP.

Arrow fans know one truth: not all heroes deserved the harsh fate they got. When Greg Berlanti decided to write off Laurel Lance, jaws dropped and tempers flared. After all, why let go of the Black Canary when the show had no shortage of characters—cough obnoxious ones—that could’ve taken her place in the grave?

Fans can’t help but wonder if Berlanti’s decision to axe Laurel instead of giving one particularly irksome character the boot missed the mark. In a series all about redemption and second chances, was taking down Laurel the ultimate missed opportunity? One thing’s for sure: Arrow’s legacy might have looked a whole lot different with a few strategic character swaps.

It has become quite a common trend for the hero of a series to be more like a villain when it comes to their actions. There is no better example of this than Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen from Arrow. The character was a perfect example of a man who was as much in the wrong as he was in the right, having a sense of great morality but at the same time, making some very bad decisions.

Even though he played the role of the moral police within the Arrowverse, while simultaneously killing and not killing as he pleases, it is safe to say that his sense of good was rarely consistent. With this in mind, here are five of the worst things that Oliver has done, which make him worse than most villains in the Dcu.
