As Three Women concludes its 10-episode run on Starz, DeWanda Wise is still unpacking her character Sloane’s emotionally-charged journey.

The actress, who stars in Lisa Taddeo‘s limited series adaptation of her 2019 book, explained to Deadline that despite the successful, sexually-active character’s seemingly liberated life of polyamorous adventure, Sloane “is everybody.”

“Nothing about Sloane felt free to me. And it’s interesting that people felt that way,” said Wise. “I think my intention going into the series was to peel back this layer of what we feel like we see on social media. At face value, you’re like, ‘This is really aspirational.’ But as the series goes on, you dive more into her life and see how she became who she became.”

In Three Women, Season 1 Episode 6, all three leading ladies—Lina, Sloane, and Maggie—strived to find happiness and freedom.

This installment featured some raw and sexy lovemaking scenes and romantic drama, which is a huge plus.

However, returning to showcasing all three stories simultaneously did not work since it switched to another arc as soon as I began to invest in one.

The general theme of this episode was about love, sex, and orgasms, ranging from an innocent girl’s first time to learning how to feel cherished again.

I love Sloane and Will’s chemistry, but it’s difficult to like her sometimes when Richard is such a devoted husband. She wants to have her cake and eat it, too.

Richard adored her, so he changed his mind after seeing how Will transformed their backyard into a winter wonderland for a sledding party.

Trying to be perfect constantly was difficult, yet Sloane tried to, especially around her overbearing mother.

Sloane’s storyline changed the most from Lisa Taddeo’s book. The series focuses more on the intricacies of the swinging relationship and why Sloane needed so much warmth and affection.

As soon as Three Women Season 1 Episode 3 began, it became apparent that Sloane struggled with body image issues. Her mom had ridiculed her about weight since she was young, but there was no need, either. She was so cute.

Dealing with overbearing mothers is the worst, especially when it hinders your perception and self-worth. Working out to better yourself and improve your mental health is one thing, but Sloane was already exotic and gorgeous.

However, even good-looking women deal with eating disorders, which I’m relieved Three Women portrayed. Sloane was often triggered by stress and derogatory comments, which caused...

Shailene Woodley plays Gia, the writer who sets out to tell the stories of the trio we meet in episode 1. She's kind of stuck and needs to find something different and exciting to write about when it comes to sex in America. She gets some advice from her "idol," who tells her to travel around the country and sleep with married men to get insight. She takes one part of that advice, and it's not sleeping with married men.

Though she does go on a roadtrip to find her subjects, and she eventually does.

“I can’t write about my parents, I have to write about sex — specifically, sex in America,” Gia Lombardi (Shailene Woodley) says, early in “Three Women.” Sitting across from New Journalism pioneer Gay Talese (James Naughton), a living, breathing, propositioning representation of the patriarchy, Gia is trying to find a new direction of her own. The book she’s already written has been dismissed by her publisher. They found it boring, among other issues, and she’s been sent to speak with the author of the 1981 book on sexuality in America, “Thy Neighbor’s Wife,” to find a stronger angle into her extremely broad thesis.

She doesn’t, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say “Three Women” doesn’t either. Even when Gia is giving her closing summary, pinning down what she’s learned at the end of her long, country-spanning journey, her conclusion is wider than the old...

Spend enough time complaining about padded limited series that would have worked better as movies and superfluously ambitious movies that would have been better fulfilled as limited series, and it becomes a relief to offer a small new variation: Starz’s new 10-hour limited series Three Women would have been better as three movies. Or possibly it would have been better as a three-season anthology series. All I know is that watching Lisa Taddeo’s adaptation of her own acclaimed book, I’ve rarely been as conscious that the way a story was being presented onscreen couldn’t possibly be the best way for that given story to be told.

Three Women is, more accurately, three different stories told in suboptimal fashion — maybe four if you include what should have been a framing device but, owing presumably to “It’s my darned book” privilege, has been given equal weight throughout.

Shailene Woodley is currently promoting her new Starz series Three Women and she’s opening up about her current relationship with the media.

The 32-year-old actress stepped out for the premiere of the show on Monday night (September 9) at The Times Center in New York City.

Shailene was joined by co-stars DeWanda Wise, Gabrielle Creevy, Blair Underwood, John Patrick Amedori, Jason Ralph (with wife Rachel Brosnahan), and Blair Redford.

Missing from the premiere was co-star Betty Gilpin. The new series premieres on September 13.

Here’s some news worth barking about: A new Paw Patrol spinoff series, focusing on one of the main pups, is in the works at Nickelodeon, our sister site Variety reports. The offshoot of the preschool franchise is slated to debut in 2023.

For those of you who were fans of Fox’s Marvel series The Gifted, I’ve got some bad news for you. The network has canceled the series, and it will not be back for a third season.

The family adventure series was set in the X-Men universe, and I actually liked the first two seasons. I thought the show was decent, but it’s not surprising that Fox would cancel it, especially after the Disney deal closed. After all, Marvel Studios is going to eventually completely reboot the X-Men franchise.

According to the report, though, “there is a chance for The Gifted to find a new home within the Disney family.” But there are no discussions happening, and I doubt that they will.

Sad news for fans of The Gifted - Fox has cancelled the X-Men series after two decent seasons.

Variety announced that the decision has been made to end the show this week. We'd previously learned that Legion, over on FX, is also being wrapped up, as both Netflix and Fox say goodbye to their Marvel titles ahead of Disney's decision to launch its own streaming service this November.

Set in the X-Men universe and focusing on a family on the run from the government after finding out that its youngest members have super powers, Matt Nix's The Gifted was an ongoing tale of mutant survival that had a strong fan base, but the series' ratings weren't terrific during its second season, dropping to 1.95 million from a strong audience of 3.31 million in the first season.

There are some big changes coming to Fox as it heads into its first full season as an independent TV station.

The network has canceled The Gifted after two low-rated seasons, Variety is reporting.

The Gifted starred Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker as parents who learn that their children have mutant abilities.

As such, they go on the run and find themselves joining a network of superheroes who are also in hiding.

“Gifted” was set in the Marvel “X-Men” universe and followed a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their teenage children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family seeks help from an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

After the show’s first season averaged a 1.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 3.31 million total viewers, the average rating for season two almost halved down to 0.59, while the average viewership dipped to 1.95 million.

“A hard time is coming for mutants,” teased the newly released trailer from Season 2 of Fox’s X-Men series, The Gifted, which was unveiled today at. Marked as the “Dawn Of A New Mutant Age,” the sophomore season picks up six months after the explosion of the Atlanta Station.

Season one ended with the Mutant Underground now split with some member going to The Inner Circle. Having tracked them outside of Washington, D.C., they must contend with new groups with extreme ideologies, both human and mutant alike, to stave off a brewing conflict.

20th Century Fox Television, always a fixture at San Diego Comic-Con, will be spotlighting its brand new vampire series The Passage this year with a world premiere screening and talent session.

The series, which is launching on Fox in early 2019, is based on Justin Cronin’s bestselling fantasy book trilogy about a secret government medical facility that experiments with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. Series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Saniyaa Sidney, Henry Ian Cusick, Jamie McShane and Ep Liz Heldens and Ep/director Jason Ensler will be chatting on the first Friday night of Comic-Con at 6 Pm.

Grace Byers will join the cast of Fox’s Marvel drama “The Gifted” as a series regular for the show’s second season, the network announced on Tuesday.

The “Empire” alum will play Reeva, a member of the Hellfire Club. She is described as “a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people.”

In the “X-Men” comics, Reeva Payge is a mutant with the ability to generate a high pitch from her vocal cords that can distort other people’s perceptions of reality.

Grace Byers is staying in the Fox fold, with the now former “Empire” actress joining the Fox-Marvel series “The Gifted” for its upcoming second season.

Byers will play Reeva, described as a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people. She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits, but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision.

“Empire” marked Byers first major onscreen role, playing Anika Calhoun. In 2016, She married her “Empire” co-star Trai Byers, who plays eldest Lyon son Andre. Byers recently departed the series after Anika died in the Season 4 finale. Byers also starred in the indie thriller “Bent” in 2017 and published a New York Times bestselling children’s book titled “I Am Enough” earlier this year.

She is repped by Gersh, Principal Entertainment, and attorney Erik Hyman.

I didn’t know anything about Dance of the Dead when I first saw it sitting on the "new releases" shelf at the local Blockbuster in the fall of 2008. But its title intrigued me: zombies and a high school prom in one movie?
