The two are back on board to host and produce MPTF’s fundraising telethon as it returns for a third straight year to help Hollywood crew members in need of assistance. The two-hour telecast — set to air live on Ktla in Los Angeles from 7-9 p.m. on Dec. 8 — will feature stories, songs and celebrity guests in a quest to raise emergency funds for entertainment workers.

The inaugural telecast garnered more than $850,000, while last year’s raised more than $750,000. The MPTF team has set a goal of $750,000 for the December outing.

Inspired by the High School memoir by Tegan and Sara Quin, the drama series takes place in the 1990s and stars TikTok creators Railey and Seazynn Gilliland. Told against a backdrop of grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.

There will be no second season for High School. Amazon Freevee has canceled the coming-of-age drama based on Tegan and Sara Quin’s bestselling memoir after one season, Deadline has confirmed.

The cancellation is not a big surprise. The series’ last aired its first and only 8-episode season in October 2022.

The Motion Picture & Television Fund’s second annual Lights, Camera, Take Action! Caring for Hollywood’s Crews telethon exceeded its fundraising goal by raising $786,512 on Saturday night, the nonprofit said.

The telethon, co-hosted and co-produced by Yvette Nicole Brown and Tom Bergeron, aired live on Ktla in Los Angeles, aiming to raise relief funds for entertainment industry members impacted by the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes this year.

It had set a goal of raising $750,000 this year after raising $865,000 a year ago.

Whether these points immediately intrigue you or not, though, you should also know that the show is also great. Amazon Freevee has just dropped the official trailer for High School, a series adaptation of the 2019 memoir of the same name by Canadian pop duo Tegan And Sara. In the series, TikTok stars Railey and Seazynn Gilliland play the teenage versions of twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin, who will grow up to be the popular indie music group they are today. The show will follow the sisters as they grow up amidst the 90s grunge fad and try to stand out as individuals while everyone tries to group them together as one. Cobie Smolders, Kyle Bornheimer, Amanda Fix, C.J. Valleroy, Nate Corddry, and Brianne Tju round out the rest of the show's cast.

The Critics Choice Association has announced the winners of the 2nd annual Critics Choice Super Awards, which honors the greatest achievements in genre storytelling across television and film.

“It’s an honor to showcase these incredible accomplishments in Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Comic Book films and television.
