Jim and Dwight are two characters with one of the best friendships on The Office. They have a ton of funny moments together, and, as it turns out, a particularly brilliant scene between them happened by complete accident. A lot of the lines for the show were scripted, and the scenes were generally planned out. That's not to say nothing was improvised, as a few of the finest quotes were ad-libbed by various cast members.

The improvisation seemingly contributed to the unpredictable feel of the show. It wasn't always possible to tell where a narrative would end up, which certainly allowed the mockumentary format to be authentic and natural. Viewers needed to believe that the characters didn't know how their days were going to pan out.

Dwight Schrute is an integral character of The Office. He brought humor, eccentricity and some of the best plots on the show. So why, when he became manager, didn't he get his moment in the opening credits like others did? One of the running jokes regarding Dwight was his desperation to impress Michael or any other authoritative figure in the workplace. He treated them like royalty, always with the goal of making his way up the ladder.

There's no question that he was also a difficult person to deal with. Jim shared a desk with him for the most part, which could become irritating, although Jim knew how to pull a prank on Dwight.

Adaptations of TV shows do not always end up working, but the American version of The Office stands as an exception. One of the most beloved sitcoms based on the Brit series of the same name, the series is soon getting a new spinoff starring the Og star, Oscar Nuñez.

The award-winning series was created by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights) and is inspired by the same-titled movie from 1989 by Lowell Ganz, Babaloo Mandel, and Ron Howard, who executive produces the series.

"The Office" had an impressive array of guest directors over the course of its nine-season run. J.J. Abrams, Harold Ramis, and Jon Favreau — who coincidentally was on the original shortlist of actors to play Michael Scott in "The Office" — all helmed episodes of the series. Another big-name guest director who wasn't brought on until the ninth and final season was Bryan Cranston, who oversaw the fourth episode of season 9, entitled "Work Bus." While the season itself isn't anyone's favorite stretch of the series, Cranston's episode is memorable for a very dark reason — namely, for almost killing the entire cast of the show.

The series' 180th episode overall, "Work Bus" saw the staff of Dunder Mifflin leave the office after Jim (John Krasinkski) convinces Dwight (Rainn Wilson) that the office itself is unsafe. Dwight then brings in an airport shuttle bus as a temporary workspace and the staff cram themselves...

Fans of The Officewon't struggle to think back on the cameo role that Amy Adams had. Early on in the series, she had a small but integral part to play. The punk rock band known for hits like “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” are working with two alums of NBC's most popular comedy show on an unexpected new movie. While the film has been described as a comedy, it is not related to the recently released and poorly received Australian version of the long-running show about printer and paper sales. Jenna Fischer recently revealed some behind-the-scenes facts about The Office, explaining that Amy Adams almost didn’t get the role of Katy Moore, the purse saleswoman in the Season 1 episode “Hot Girl.” Fischer shared that the casting team was hesitant at first because they thought Adams looked too much like her.

On the Office Ladies podcast, which she co-hosts with Angela Kinsey, Fischer explained that Adams wasn’t the original choice for Katy. Another actress was cast and filmed for a day, but the team decided she wasn’t the right fit.

Adams was then brought in and quickly proved she was perfect for the part. Fischer recalled, “She was so seamlessly Katy. She improvised a lot, and much of her dialogue made it into the episode.”

However, there was some resistance to casting Adams because of her resemblance to Fischer. One writer reportedly said, “We can’t cast her.
