Katie Couric made a candid announcement about her health.
On Wednesday, the TV personality and journalist shared a blog post on her website revealing that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Robertson was participating in a discussion at the Stratford Festival’s Tom Patterson Theatre when he likened the situation to that of Cordelia in the play King Lear.
“She held to her own integrity, all through with the old man. From the beginning, saying, ‘My bond is our father-daughter relationship.’ Right to the end, she was there for him,” he said.
In the play, Cordelia is banished by her father, the king, after she stays true to her sense of honesty and refuses to profess her love for him, as her sisters deceitfully do.

The decision to end Lisa Laflamme’s contract with CTV National News had nothing to do with her age, gender or grey hair, the head of Bell Media’s parent company said.
“The narrative has been that Lisa’s age, gender or grey hair played into the decision,” Mirko Bibic, president and CEO of Bce Inc. & Bell Canada, wrote in a LinkedIn post.
“I am satisfied that this is not the case and wanted to make sure you heard it from me.”
Instead, removing the longtime anchor reflects massive changes to traditional broadcasting in Canada, he said.
“The days when viewers wait until 11 p.m. to get their news are gone,” Bibic said. “While some may resist change, it is necessary and we need to confront this … Bell Media needs to provide our journalists with the resources they need on all platforms where news is consumed.”

An open letter signed by a long list of Canadian luminaries is taking aim at Bell Media’s abrupt dismissal of Lisa Laflamme as anchor of the company’s flagship newscast.
In a two-page spread in today’s Globe and Mail, the missive signed by a who’s who of Canadian arts, business and politics — including Margaret Norrie McCain, Anne Murray and Jim Balsillie — says Laflamme was a ratings leader for the company “until one thing changed: the colour of her hair.”
The letter to the board of directors and management of Bce and Bell Canada says the ousting of the award-winning TV news anchor in the prime of her career underscores the sexism and ageism women continue to face at work.
It says the “business decision” to dismiss Laflamme has destroyed trust in Bell Media and questions how the company will “make things right.”

This week, the very last “Jeopardy!” episodes hosted by the late, great Alex Trebek before he died Nov. 8, are airing on TV. To remember the beloved longtime host, here are eight ways Trebek made the world a better place, courtesy of Lisa Rogak’s biography, “Who Is Alex Trebek?”, out now from Macmillan Publishers.
He was vocal about climate change
“I believe that climate change exists and is contributed to by human activity,” he said in a 2014 interview with the online publication Salon.
He helped make “Jeopardy!” more inclusive
Trebek worked to attract Black contestants to the show and increase the number of categories about African-American subjects. “We are trying our darnedest to make America more aware of the accomplishments of Black people in this country,” he told journalist Chuck Taylor in a 1995 Seattle Times story called “Jeopardy Host Defends Show’s Record on Race.”

Trebek had been courageously documenting his life with cancer after being diagnosed in March 2019. He attended the TCM Classic Movies Film Festival in April of that year, giving a heartfelt and emotional introduction to the feature “Wuthering Heights.” He celebrated one year of fighting cancer — prognosis for survival after 12 months is usually 18% — in March 2020. “I’m not afraid of dying,” Alex Trebek said in a new interview after doctors determined in September that the 79-year-old “Jeopardy!” host needed another round of chemotherapy to fight stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
“One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is ‘He was taken from us too soon,'” Trebek told told CTV’s Lisa Laflamme in Ottawa on Friday.
Trebek said he had already begun his latest round of chemotherapy in the hope that his numbers will decrease and that he’s noticed some hair loss as part of the new treatment.

Trebek had previously said in May that he was in remission and returned to work on “Jeopardy!” in August to film the game show’s 36th season. Trebek’s strain of pancreatic cancer has a 9% survival rate.

Toronto – Having been passed over to replace top CTV network news anchor Lloyd Robertson, Tom Clark has left the Canadian broadcasters after four decades.
Clark's sudden departure as the host of CTV News Channel's "Power Play with Tom Clark" follows rival Lisa Laflamme being chosen to replace Robertson as host of "CTV National News" in mid-2011.
Clark, a former CTV News bureau chief in Washington D.C. and China, was also passed over in a recent changing of the guard at rival Global Television, where former NBC foreign correspondent Dawna Friesen eventually replaced Kevin Newman as chief news anchor.
"CTV is extremely proud of its long association with Tom Clark, and wishes him well in his future endeavours," CTV News president Robert Hurst said in a terse statement.
