Ryan Coogler is teaming up again with Michael B. Jordan for an untitled Warner Bros. supernatural thriller.

Although the plot details for the film remain under wraps, filming for the thriller has started. Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw shared a photo from the production set on social media, teasing that filming had commenced.

“Get ready,” Arkapaw captioned the post on Instagram.

Jordan has starred in multiple movies with Coogler, including 2013’s Fruitvale Station, 2015’s Creed, and 2018’s Black Panther.

Coogler’s film will be released in theaters on March 7, 2025. The thriller also stars Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, and Wunmi Mosaku.

“Where the Crawdads Sing” has gathered quite a list of names associated with the film adaptation of Delia Owens’ bestselling novel, which was published in 2018. Reese Witherspoon spotlighted the book as one of the earliest picks in her book club, and then her production company Hello Sunshine signed on to adapt the book for the big screen through Lucy Alibar’s screenplay.

Directed by Olivia Newman, the story weaves together several complex themes, including coming of age, survival and a murder mystery. Taylor Swift even wrote a song for the film after reading Owens’ novel because she was so inspired by the story: “Carolina,” which released June 23, echoes Owens’ naturalistic writing with a haunting melody.

With a simple plot attempting to harken back to the central court case of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Delia Owens’ 2018 novel “Where the Crawdads Sing” became a bestseller and caught the attention of mega-producer Reese Witherspoon, who scooped up the adaptation rights under her Hello Sunshine production banner.

“Where the Crawdads Sing” centers on Kya Clark, derisively referred to by her community as “Marsh Girl,” who was left to fend for herself along the North Carolina coast as a young girl. Upon becoming a teenager and being romantically involved with two men from town, Kya finds herself in the center of a murder trial in 1969 after one of her beaus is found dead following an attempted assault.

Alameda County district attorney Nancy O’Malley announced today that they are reopening the investigation of the 2009 shooting of Oscar Grant, who was killed on New Year’s Day by Bay Area Rapid Transit (Bart) police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Fruitvale Station in Oakland, Calif. The case was the subject in Ryan Coogler’s 2013 film Fruitvale Station.

Mehserle claimed he grabbed his gun instead of his taser. He was charged with murder but an L.A. County jury found him with involuntary manslaughter and he only served 11 months.

According to the Associated Press and the San Jose Mercury, the news was made after Grant’s family asked O’Malley to investigate the role of Officer Anthony Pirone in his death. James Franco has signed on to adapt the murder mystery novel The Killer Next Door.

The actor will work with Ahna O'Reilly on the project based on the book by Alex Marwood, according to Variety.

The story follows six neighbours who are forced into a shaky alliance with each other, not knowing a murderer is amongst them who will go to any lengths to keep their activities a secret.

There is no word yet on whether Franco will be starring in or directing the film, but it's possible he will fill both roles.

Franco has also been working on The Long Home, an adaption of the William Gay novel starring Josh Hutcherson, which he will produce, direct and star in.

Franco recently appeared in True Story with Jonah Hill, which was released in the Us earlier this year and hits the UK on July 24. Watch a trailer below:...

The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson and Zach Braff are the latest stars to join James Franco's film In Dubious Battle.

Franco will direct As I Lay Dying writer Matt Rager's adaptation of John Steinbeck's politically-charged 1936 novel.

In Dubious Battle will chronicle an activist becoming involved with California's contentious labour movement during the 1930s.

Joining Hutcherson and Braff as the newest additions to the film's cast are Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love…), Ahna O'Reilly (The Help) and Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga).

Franco has amassed an all-star cast for the political drama, including John Savage, Nat Wolff, Bryan Cranston, Danny McBride, Selena Gomez, Robert Duvall and Ed Harris.

In Dubious Battle will be shot on location in Georgia, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

That's Hollywood Pictures is expected to release In Dubious Battle later this year.

Sean Ander and John Morris are directing the film, which tells the story of a radio executive (Ferrell) who wants to be the best stepdad he can to his wife's two children. James Franco is teaming up with AOL for a unique web series Making a Scene with James Franco, which you can check out in the first trailer. The actor is teaming up with Scott Haze and Ahna O'Reilly for this 10-episode web series where they recreate scenes from classic movies.

I was originally going to see James Franco's William Faulkner adaptation The Sound and Fury in Toronto on Friday, but I think I'm opting to see the Viggo Mortensen starrer Far from Men instead. After all, I doubt it will be long before this one is streaming or at least available domestically while Far from Men may take a little longer to find itself a domestic distributor. That said, the first clip from Franco's new movie has arrived as it will be having its world premiere this Friday at the Venice Film Festival, followed by a North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday. I caught Franco's previous Faulkner adaptation As I Lay Dying at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival (read the review here) and it was an intriguing experimental piece, but the pace at which he churns these things out makes me wonder just how much...

It's not a film festival without James Franco unveiling a short film, book of poetry, feature effort, art installation or something, and so the polymath is rolling into Venice with "The Sound And The Fury." Yep, the work of William Faulkner is getting the Franco treatment, again, and the first clip is here to give you a sampling of how it all turns out. Joey King, Tim Blake Nelson, Ahna O'Reilly, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Scott Haze, Jon Hamm and Franco himself all appear in this saga about the lives and intrigues of the southern Compson family, who find themselves in decline. This clip reveals that Franco has dropped the split-screen stylization of his previous Faulkner effort, "As I Lay Dying," and as a result, the drama appears more direct and intense. Overall, it seems more accomplished than that the previous effort too, so we're curious to see if Franco nailed it this time out.
