Topping the list is Jurassic World Rebirth, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp. This standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park series.
The movie introduces a brand-new cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. Given its popularity on multiple “most anticipated” lists, its number-one ranking comes as no surprise.
In second place is Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will introduce Marvel’s First Family to the MCU. The film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. It’s described as a retro-futuristic reimagining of the 1960s, set in a parallel reality, adding a...

Thunderbolts* seems full of twists and turns to end the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Five, with a star-studded cast to bring the chaos on-screen. Star David Harbour can't wait for audiences to see the "exciting" blockbuster, which he claims is "full of pretentious Oscar nominees."
Speaking with Screen Rant, Harbour praised director Jake Schreier for the creative "freedom" enjoyed during filming while suggesting the film's marketing leans into the initial criticism surrounding the movie's premise. According to Harbour, the film diverts from the typical Marvel movie, presenting something fresh for fans who may have suffered from superhero fatigue.
"All of us are a bunch of film and theater nerds. I mean, look, Jake [Schreier] is a funny guy, and I think we're all aware of how ridiculous this movie sounded to the Marvel community a year ago when it was presented. Like, these losers, you're going to put them all in...

The latest trailer for Thunderbolts* made a point of not only highlighting the Marvel Studios movie's impressive cast but also naming the incredible indie talent who have boarded the movie in behind-the-scenes roles.
The "Absolute Cinema" sneak peek took its cues from A24 and it's obvious that Marvel Studios is driving home the fact this isn't your typical MCU movie.
It remains to be seen whether it does subvert expectations, but Screen Rant recently caught up with Red Guardian actor David Harbour and got his take on how Thunderbolts* is being marketed.
"Yeah, I would also like to take it even a step further: I am a Tony nominee. Tony-nominated David Harbour. So we have theater, we've done off-Broadway plays together. Thunderbolts* promises to end Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a bang as the titular antihero group seeks redemption for past missteps. A new report claims the upcoming superhero blockbuster won't keep fans in cinemas for too long to find out how this latest chapter in the Multiverse Saga ends.
According to Feature First, Thunderbolts* "currently has an approximate runtime of two hours." If the report is accurate, it would continue Marvel's recent trend of keeping its MCU entries just above or below the two-hour mark. Since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which ran for 2 hours and 29 minutes, the last three MCU films, The Marvels (1 hour and 45 minutes), Deadpool & Wolverine (2 hours and 8 minutes) and Captain America: Brave New World (1 hour and 58 minutes), have run for around two hours. The average MCU movie runtime across its 17-year existence is 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Captain America: Brave New World passed $400 million at the worldwide box office this weekend, and it's likely somewhere around there it will end its run in theaters.
Had Marvel Studios not committed to some pretty extensive reshoots, there's a chance the movie would have broken even or at least turned a small profit. Unfortunately, the critical and commercial response has likely closed the door on another solo adventure for the McU's new Captain America happening anytime soon.
Time will tell, but all eyes are beginning to shift to Marvel Studios' next movie, Thunderbolts*. Another feature that picks up with characters who have either appeared in supporting roles or primarily on Disney+, it's hard to say whether it will appeal to moviegoers struggling with superhero - and general blockbuster - fatigue.

Along with the arrival of their new joint album, I Said I Love You First, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have dropped a new music video for their song, “Younger and Hotter Than Me.”

Marvel Studios' next MCU movie, Thunderbolts*, arrives in theaters in less than two months, and promotion is starting to kick up a few gears.
Following a new "A24-style" teaser and some Empire Magazine covers and stills, we have a new banner featuring the team of misfit heroes along with a Mike and Ike tie-in advert.
We're not sure if the promo includes any new footage (there might be one shot of "Bob" and some new dialogue), but we will likely get a final trailer for the movie over the next few weeks when tickets go on sale.
A lot of fans have (understandably) compared Thunderbolts* to DC's Suicide Squad, but director Jake Schreier - who was previously in the running to helm both Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man: Homecoming - believes audiences will be surprised by how different his movie is .

¿Una película de asesinos independiente? © Disney

The mysterious asterisk in Thunderbolts* continues to dominate the conversation about the next MCU movie, and in the lead-up to its release, director Jake Schreier and actress Florence Pugh have teased what they know. It isn't long before answers to all the mysteries surrounding Thunderbolts* are revealed as the movie nears its May 2 release date. Until then, fans can only speculate over how the titular team will deal with the challenge of the Void in the apparent absence of the comparatively more powerful Avengers.
Regarding the asterisk mystery, Jake Schrier and Florence Pugh have remained tight-lipped - though Schrier assures audiences that "It means something," in a recent interview with Empire Magazine. Their comments come just over a month after a Japanese poster for the movie added the tagline "*The Avengers are not available," leading prospective audiences to wonder if this was all it was supposed to denote. The Avengers were once a big symbol of hope in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and not just figuratively. Standing in the middle of New York City was the Avengers Tower: A big structure that served to remind bad guys that they weren't over anyone's head. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when the Sokovia Accords were ratified and Earth's Mightiest Heroes fought against each other leading to their disbanding.
Much to everyone's surprise, it was revealed that Tony Stark sold the Avengers Tower during the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming — a decision that marked the end of the heroes' era. That was all the way back in 2017, and we've all had the same question in mind since then: Who is the new owner of this iconic skyscraper?
Theories grew rampant as many supposed that Reed Richards was turning this structure into the Baxter Building, or that Wilson Fisk was behind the whole thing. However,...

Captain America: Brave New World has been and gone, and all eyes are now on what Marvel Studios delivers with Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The former arrives in May and a new "Please Silence Your Phones" PSA is currently playing in theaters. Unlike the one used to promote Deadpool & Wolverine, this only features footage from the movie itself but it's almost all new and includes some small reveals.
Chief among them is the fact that the limousine shown in trailers is what Red Guardian is using for his day job as a chauffeur. It also appears as if the team will be the subject of some sort of sonic attack when they arrive in the facility "Bob" (a.k.a. The Sentry) is contained in when the movie begins.
During a recent interview with Empire, Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier weighed in on the movie being compared to Suicide Squad.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.
Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.
After all, the Thor trailer does not highlight director Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearian background, and the advertisements for Avenger epics do not point out that many of the stars are Oscar nominees. This Thunderbolts* campaign...

Some new Thunderbolts* stills have been released and they put the spotlight on many of the movie's lead characters. The buzz surrounding this one is extremely positive; whether it translates to all-important box office takings remains to be seen.
There are some great shots of Yelena Belova, Ghost, Taskmaster, and even Bob, a character we know will eventually be revealed as the (villainous?) Sentry.
Even Taskmaster gets her own still; she's been largely absent from trailers for Thunderbolts*, leading to theories the Black Widow villain doesn't make it beyond the movie's first act. That may indeed be the case but there's no denying that she looks pretty badass here.
Bucky, meanwhile, is shown performing his duties as a Congressman and in "Winter Soldier" mode alongside filmmaker Jake Schreier.

Marvel Studios has apparently heard fans' complaints about the most recent slate of MCU movies, as the marketing team for Thunderbolts* have made some against-the-grain moves to promote the McU's next film. In a recent interview, Florence Pugh, who reprises her long-running role as Yelena Belova, piled on to the eccentric marketing campaign by describing the McU's latest as an "A24-feeling" action film.
Speaking to Empire Magazine, Pugh teased how different Thunderbolts* will feel from the rest of the MCU filmography. "It ended up becoming this quite badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie with Marvel superheroes," the actress revealed. Over the past few years, Marvel fans have criticized MCU movies for all feeling very similar and lacking any distinct voice -- with Martin Scorsese even piling on to the discourse. However, the first full trailer for Thunderbolts* gave fans hope again that the MCU can produce actual "cinema."

Florence Pugh has described Thunderbolts, the upcoming Marvel film, as having an indie aesthetic reminiscent of an A24 production. Speaking with Empire, Pugh, who reprises her role as Yelena Belova, said the film has a different tone compared to standard Marvel releases.

Director Jake Schreier, best known for his work on Beef, said the film carries a distinct emotional weight. “There’s a certain amount of that Beef tone in it, that does feel different,” he said. “There’s an emotional darkness that we brought to this that is resonant, but doesn’t come at the expense of comedy.”

The star of the latest Marvel movie, Thunderbolts*, says the film has more of an indie feel than previous efforts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the new movie, said it felt more like an “assassin” movie than a traditional MCU film.

Florence Pugh thinks the upcoming Marvel film “Thunderbolts*” feels less like a major Hollywood tentpole and more like an arthouse indie.
“It ended up becoming this quite badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie with Marvel superheroes,” Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the film, told Empire.
Pugh’s comments are backed by “Thunderbolts*” marketing, which has recently emphasized its cast and creative team’s ties to A24. A new teaser points out Pugh, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Sebastian Stan’s roles in A24 films “Midsommar,” You Hurt My Feelings” and “A Different Man.”
The teaser also highlighted “the writers and director of ‘Beef,'” “the editor of ‘Minari'” and “the composers of ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once'” among others.
Director Jake Schreier told Variety at Comic-Con last year that “The goal that Kevin [Feige, president of Marvel Studios] set at the beginning was to go in and try to make this different.

Could Marvel be trying to get in on some of that indie popularity? With Sean Baker’s Neon release “Anora” running away with five Oscars last weekend, including the top honor of Best Picture, big Hollywood studios like Disney may want some of its own fare to have that independent touch. Such is the case it seems for its upcoming entry in the MCU, “Thunderbolts,” starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Speaking in a recent interview with Empire, Pugh said of the tone the film “ended up becoming this quite badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie with Marvel superheroes.”
And while A24 and “Anora” studio Neon are decidedly not “rivals,” as Neon CEO Tom Quinn recently said (Neon instead counts Netflix as their “biggest competitor” for acquisition titles), could Marvel be trying to square off with A24?

Following the lackluster response to Captain America 4, the MCU is now preparing for its next release in the form of Thunderbolts*. Marketing is now in full-swing for the upcoming team-up movie, with a new trailer recently dropping online. However, the movie has seemingly opted for a strange marketing strategy.

In the latest trailer, the marketing has opted to highlight one aspect of the movie that is commonly seen in trailers for A24 movies. However, a film from the multi-billion dollar MCU choosing the same strategy seems like a desperate move for the franchise. Here is what fans are saying about the latest trailer for Thunderbolts* and why I cannot defend the MCU anymore.

Marvel Studios is doing something a bit different with its latest Thunderbolts* trailer: adopting an indie vibe.
In addition to reintroducing the film's ensemble, Thunderbolts*' marketing adopts the look and feel of an A24 trailer, complete with a surreal musical choice and neon colors for text introductions. This trailer not only pays homage to its director and cast's previous A24 projects -- citing Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus' work on Midsommar, A Different Man and You Hurt My Feelings -- but revealed the cinematographer, editor, production designer and composer have all worked on films for the acclaimed independent film company too. This vibe extends to new scenes revealed in the trailer, such as Yelena Belova facing a hallucinatory version of herself and Bucky Barnes punching a man in a chicken suit.

The latest preview for “Thunderbolts*” touts the Marvel movie’s connection to another cinematic universe — that of indie film favorite A24.
The new clip ditches Marvel’s traditional sweeping orchestrations and big action setpieces in favor of slick techno music and title cards highlighting that many of the film’s stars, creatives and artisans have previously worked on A24 films.
First revealed by Letterboxd, the “exclusive first look” intercuts shots of Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in their Marvel gear with their A24 acting credits.
The teaser gives the Marvel Studios logo an A24-esque makeover and features stylized cards for “the editor of ‘Minari'” (Harry Yoon) and “the writers and director of ‘Beef'” (director Jake Schreier and co-writers Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo). “The Green Knight” cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo and “Hereditary” production designer Grace Yun also get a shoutout, with “Everything Everywhere All At Once...

Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a hub for many teams beyond the Avengers. Whether it's something as haphazard as the Revengers or something far more iconic like the Fantastic Four, teams are the most important thing. A new look at Thunderbolts*has dropped and it is totally playing up its stars' indie darling status. The one minute trailer opens by stating it is from the stars of Midsommar (hello Florence Pugh), A Different Man and You Hurt My Feelings. Then, of course, we're told it's from the writers and director of Beef, which won director Jake Schreier critical acclaim when it released on Netflix. It's feeling pretty smug right now isn't it? Good, stay with us. Oh, hold on, it's from the cinematographer of The Green Knight too. Yep, production designer who worked on Hereditary. Oh god, they're mentioning Minari and Everything Everywhere All At Once now. We can't keep up.

In 2012, the world was not only introduced to the Avengers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but also their headquarters. The Manhattan high rise, once known as Stark Tower, was thereafter referred to as Avengers Tower. By the end of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," however, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) had retrofitted one of his company's warehouses into the compound that housed Earth's Mightiest Heroes on through to "Avengers: Endgame." But what happened to the Avengers' original base after it was shuttered?

Marvel Studios and Letterboxd have released a new minute-long trailer for Thunderbolts*, and it highlights the incredible indie talent who have boarded the movie in behind the scenes roles.
There's also heaps of never-before-seen footage from the next MCU movie, including Yelena Belova coming face-to-face with herself, Bob's feet starting to float above the ground, and Bucky punching a guy...in a chicken costume?!
Unless Marvel Studios is majorly misleading us with Thunderbolts*'s marketing campaign, this looks like unlike anything we've seen from them before. There's a risk the studio will deliver the expected third act VFX-heavy battle when The Sentry comes into play, but even that stands a chance of surprising us.

Avengers Tower is no longer, as Thunderbolts* reveals it has been renamed it, and it is one comic book fans will be equally excited and worried about. Fans were excited when the first trailer for Thunderbolts* finally answered a question MCU fans have had since 2017 — who bought the Avengers Tower? First mentioned in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fan speculation was rampant for years, with theories that it would be purchased by Wilson Fisk / The Kingpin or Norman Osborn / The Green Goblin. Many were certain it would be the location of the Baxter Building for the McU's Fantastic Four before their upcoming film was revealed to take place in another universe.

There have been rumblings for several months that CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the new owner of Avengers Tower. The building was sold way back in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, though Marvel Studios has waited until Thunderbolts* to reveal who bought it from Tony Stark.
The latest Thunderbolts* trailer confirmed that Val owns the building and that she's making some changes to it, adding a structure with a striking similarity to The Sentry's Watchtower on top.
Talking to Empire Online, filmmaker Jake Schreier confirmed Avengers Tower has now been renamed the "Watchtower" and teased, "We know what that tower means. Who’s the person you would least like to own that tower, that means so much to so many people? Can you use that as a symbol of things taking a darker turn?"
Part of that darker turn with be Val's man-made superhero The Sentry unleashing hell on New York City as The Void.

Across the MCU so far, Avengers Tower has been a beacon of hope in New York – the home of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and co, keeping a watchful eye on the city, ready to protect its citizens from danger. It was the scene of that epic Loki-Hulk smackdown in Avengers, hosted a rockin’ party in Avengers: Age Of Ultron (until the titular AI gatecrashed and killed the vibe), and was the location for a pivotal time-heist moment in Avengers: Endgame. But in the wake of Tony Stark’s death, and with no Avengers line-up to speak of, it isn’t Avengers Tower any more. In Thunderbolts*, it has new ownership.

Marvel’s next big hit, Thunderbolts*, is set to hit theaters on the first weekend of May 2025, kicking off the summer movie season. Unlike the Avengers, this team isn’t full of heavy hitters. Florence Pugh recently described the tone of Thunderbolts* by comparing it to a certain popular movie studio – which will likely excite some, confuse others, and make others even more skeptical. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had an interesting start to 2025, with the mixed reaction to Captain America: Brave New World balanced out by the overwhelmingly positive response to the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, which premiered this week. Thunderbolts* is the next installment in the MCU and will kick off the summer movie season on the first weekend of May, the same weekend that Marvel previously released Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.

Thunderbolts*: Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova Watches Over Lewis Pullman's "Useless" Bob In New Still

On the one hand, Thunderbolts* looks set to be a pretty direct follow-up to Black Widow and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (those projects and this movie share many of the same characters).
While we expect it to have a lot in common with those, filmmaker Jake Schreier tells Empire Online that when he boarded Thunderbolts*, it came with a very clear directive from Marvel Studios brass: "'Make it something different.'"

When Jake Schreier got the job of directing Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, it came with an all-important directive from the top: “‘Make it something different’,” he tells Empire. Because, while on the surface it’s a team-up of several existing MCU characters from across various previous projects, this isn’t just an Avengers redux. The Thunderbolts are barely powered, barely heroic, and barely a team – a jumble of misfits and murderers, all looking for some kind of belonging. In the hands of a director previously behind indie favourites like Robot & Frank and Netflix hit Beef, the result is something with a tone distinct from any previous Marvel movie.
“It ended up becoming this quite badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie with Marvel superheroes,” Florence Pugh laughs to Empire, reprising her role as Widow-trained assassin Yelena Belova, previously seen in Black Widow and Hawkeye. Schreier has form in that arena, given Beef was an actual A24 production.

Even when facing the worst dangers in the universe, the Avengers were always a hopeful force – do-gooders who could do this all day. But one thing’s for sure: the Thunderbolts aren’t the Avengers. The next film in the MCU assembles a brand new team-up, not of primary-coloured superheroes, but of misfits and misanthropes. There’s Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, a Black Widow assassin with a sarcastic streak; Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, formerly a Russian cyborg sleeper agent; Wyatt Russell’s disgraced anti-Cap, John Walker; Hannah John-Kamen’s phase-shifting foe Ghost; David Harbour’s Soviet soldier Red Guardian; the move-mirroring Taskmaster. Oh, and Lewis Pullman’s mysterious wildcard, ‘Bob’. Ideally, they’re not the crew you’d pick to save the world.

Thunderbolts* arrives in theaters less than two months from now and Empire Magazine has shared two new covers assembling the members of Marvel Studios' newest superhero team.
The first is a pretty standard promotional shot of the Thunderbolts which, despite her absence from the trailers, puts Taskmaster front and centre. The Sentry is in "Bob" mode here, presumably meaning his superhero costume will remain under wraps despite that recent leak.
Empire's subscriber-only cover pays homage to comic book corner boxes and was illustrated by Marvel Comics artist Mark Brooks.
We'd imagine new stills and interviews are incoming, while a trailer is likely also on the way. Marvel Studios has pulled out all the stops to build awareness for Thunderbolts*, including a splashy Super Bowl TV spot. Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps will surely be next to get their own Empire covers.
Back to Thunderbolts* and early buzz for the movie is extremely positive.

The powers that be have assembled various teams across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve had the Avengers, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes; then intergalactic ‘a-holes’, the Guardians Of The Galaxy; see also, the god-like Eternals. But there’s never been a superhero team-up like the Thunderbolts. In part because they’re not exactly heroes, consisting of grey-area allies at best (Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes), and borderline-villains at worst. But also because they’re not exactly ‘super’ either, with barely a special power between them. So, what happens when a motley crew of not-super not-heroes is tasked with saving the world?
The new issue of Empire goes on set of Marvel’s Thunderbolts* in search of answers, speaking to the starry cast – including Pugh, Stan, John-Kamen and Russell, plus David Harbour and Lewis Pullman – and director Jake Schreier about creating the unlikeliest team-up this side of the multiverse.

The Thunderbolts* is assembling characters from franchises like Black Widow, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Ant-Man and The Wasp for what promises to be one of the McU's wildest team-ups to date.
While Reservoir Dogs, Ronin, and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol were among filmmaker Jake Schreier's key sources of inspiration, so was...Toy Story 3?!
"I had Toy Story 3 in there," the director told Empire Online. "It wasn’t as focused on a genre as much as dynamics amongst characters. They all have that dynamic of a team that is thrown together."
"That [furnace] sequence works so well because you’ve come to care about these characters so much," Schreier added. "Can they get out of the trash can together?"
While we'd have never imagined a movie like Thunderbolts* being inspired by Pixar's animated classic, the members of the team also share something in common: they're damaged people.

A full look at Sentry's costume in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* has finally been revealed. However, it wasn't Marvel who was behind the costume reveal, with that honor instead going to the movie's Funko Pop! line of collectibles.
The first look at the Thunderbolts* Funko Pop! figures was shared by Funk Pop News! on X and feature John F. Walker, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, and Sentry, who will be portrayed by Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, and Lewis Pullman, respectively, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The Sentry costume shown in the Pop! figure is fairly comics-accurate, although way more stylized, a design decision that some comic book fans have openly spoken out against during suit reveals for past MCU projects. Check out the Thunderbolts* Pop! figures below.

This year’s MCU outing, Thunderbolts*, has surprisingly kept several major elements pretty close to the chest, including what the newest superhero will look like. Now, a leak has seemingly revealed our first look at the character, who is expected to play a major part in the world of Marvel going forward.
The character in question is Bob, Aka Sentry, who will be both the hero and villain in Thunderbolts*. Played by Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman, Sentry was created by Paul Jenkins alongside artist Jae Lee for "The Sentry" #1 back in 2000. Often likened to Marvel’s Superman, Sentry comes with a series dark side, harboring two very different personalities inside his head. One is the benevolent superhero Sentry and the other is the hostile supervillain, Void.
