He earned a BS in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology in 1957, master's from Stanford University in 1958, and PhD in 1963 at the University of Michigan, where he joined the faculty.
Was a professor emeritus of nuclear engineering and radiological sciences at the University of Michigan after retiring.
