When you make movies as long as Mel Gibson has, there's bound to be some that don't quite connect to critics or audiences. Netflix officially announced that one of his lowest-rated films of all-time, Force of Nature, will depart the platform on September 28, with no new streaming home in sight. In addition to Gibson, the 2020 action film also stars Emile Hirsch, David Zayas, and Stephanie Cayo, and it follows a gang of thieves who plan a heist during a hurricane and run into trouble when a cop forces everyone to evacuate the building they're trying to rob. In addition to Gibson, Hirsch, Zayas, and Cayo, Force of Nature also stars Kate Bosworth, Tyler Jon Olson, and William Catlett, and the film currently sits at embarrassing scores of 8% from critics and 16% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nicolas Cage has had one of the most varied careers in Hollywood, but its in the action movie genre that hes had some of his most acclaimed and memorable roles. With three iconic releases in 1996 alone, including The Rock, Con Air, and Face/Off, Cage has made a name for himself as a non-stop worker who's always willing to embrace even the most outlandish of movie premises. Every Nicolas Cage movie has something unique to offer, as hes a performer who never phones it in and always tries to find a unique way to portray his characters. Although some of his direct-to-video action movies were full of genre tropes and cliches, they were usually still fun-filled spectacles that kept viewers enthralled throughout.

Fallout tells the story of, yes, “the fallout” when a nuclear threat forces six people into a malfunctioning underground bunker. Tensions soon rise as they fight to stay alive. With oxygen and the trust in each other quickly running out, they learn that a more sinister plan is afoot. It’s interesting to see that the story involves six people being trapped in one location, but only the names of five actors have been announced. Who is the sixth person in that bunker?

Michael Benaroya’s International Film Trust is launching world sales on the project at the upcoming EFM.

Penned by Michael Miceli (The Bounty Hunter) and Cecil Chambers (Awol-72), the film will be directed by Chambers, who is financing and producing under his Triumphant Entertainment banner alongside Miceli, Tyler Jon Olson (Cash Out), and Benaroya (Lawless) for Benaroya Pictures.

Saleem Elmasri, John Marques, Waynard Schmidt, and Andrea Bucko will serve as executive producers.

Watching Mel Gibson take on a gang of crooks during a hurricane may well be exactly what we all need right now. Well, it's lucky then that is exactly what we are getting with the first trailer for Lionsgate's action-thriller Force of Nature, which pits Gibson against not only a band of criminals but also a Category 5 hurricane. Alongside Mel Gibson, Emile Hirsch stars as a cop named Cardillo who is desperately trying to evacuate an apartment complex after a category 5 hurricane hits.

He runs into Dr. Troy, played by Kate Bosworth, and her father, the latter of whom stubbornly refuses to leave his home despite the raging storm outside. Little do the group know that a gang of heavily armed thieves led by Dexter and The Expendables star David Zayas has begun breaking into the building in pursuit of $55 million that has been hidden somewhere on the property.

Bruce Willis has done it all.

He’s defended Nakatomi Plaza from Russian terrorists (Die Hard), saved the planet from a stray asteroid (Armageddon), and cultivated superpowers across Unbreakable and Glass, two entries in M. Night Shyamalan’s mind-bending trilogy.

But for his latest, he’s venturing into the realm of home invasion thrillers. Whereas Hostage placed Willis in the shoes of a hostage negotiator though, Lionsgate’s Survive the Night sees the action great square off against two criminals who threaten his family.

It’s due to release digitally on May 22nd, and has been rated R for “violence, bloody images, and language throughout.” Put simply: it’s an old-school thriller starring Bruce Willis as its lead character, and People has today relayed the debut trailer. It’s sad when Willis looks like the least interesting part of the movie.

In the story, Wakes joins forces with Madison, “a witness injured during the shootings. After the killers pursue Madison across the abandoned floor of a hospital, she confirms Wakes’s worst fears: the two men are actually corrupt vice cops covering up a crime. A bank heist gone awry leads to the criminals involved turning on each other; while trying to figure out who betrayed them and why. 10 Minutes Gone is being marketed as a suspenseful crime thriller, but woefully lacks in both suspense and thrills. It didn't take ten minutes of screentime to sniff out a rather obvious villain. What follows is a jumble of horrendous dialogue, cardboard acting, and ridiculous gunplay. 10 Minutes Gone wastes the talent of two Hollywood greats. One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray, Shea Buckner, Tyler Olson, Lydia Hull, and Jessica Abrams are set to co-star opposite Bruce Willis in The Long Night, an action thriller from Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films.

Directed by Matt Eskandari, the pic follows two ruthless criminals who break into a disgraced doctor’s home to be given medical attention after one of them is shot during a robbery gone wrong. Knowing that he lacks the expertise to patch up the injured trespasser, the doctor must protect his family at all costs.

Doug Wolfe penned the screenplay and production is currently underway. Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing with Tim Sullivan, Alex Eckert, and Ted Fox serving as executive producers.

Murray, who recurred on the latest seasons of CW’s Riverdale and Fox’s Star, is repped by Innovative Artists and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

“You can’t kill me! I died seven years ago!” It’s very much to the credit of Matthew Modine that he persuasively sells this melodramatic scrap of dialogue, and every other aspect of his trickily written lead character, in “Backtrace,” a better-than-average VOD-centric thriller that likely wouldn’t work nearly so well without the veteran actor’s totally committed performance. Sylvester Stallone and Christopher McDonald are along for the ride, but in roles that keep them largely consigned to the sidelines until the inevitable climatic shootout. Throughout most of the movie’s running time, Modine is tasked with the majority of the heavy lifting, and he handles the burden admirably.

While MoviePass is still trying to figure out how to keep their movie subscription service alive, their film division, MoviePass Film, is moving forward with a new film project called 10 Minutes Gone and Bruce Willis is set to star in it.

The story follows a man "who loses ten minutes of his memory due to being hit by a stray bullet during a bank heist gone wrong. He must put the pieces of his broken memory together in order to find out who sabotaged the job and took the money, all while being pursued by a powerful crime boss hellbent on recovering the cash."

Willis will take on the role of the pissed off crime boss. In a statement, Willis said that he's “excited to be working with producers Randall Emmett and George Furla again with their new venture MoviePass Films.”

Brian A. Miller will direct a script from Kelvin Mao and Jeff Jingle. Also starring is Meadow Williams who recently completed filming on Boss Level, opposite Mel Gibson and Naomi Watts, and After. It marks the fourth collaboration between Emmett, Furla, and Williams.

I have a love/hate relationship with Bruce Willis these days. On the one hand he stars in films I love such as the Red, G.I. Joe and The Expendables; and on the other he appears in direct to market dross like The Prince, Set-Up and Vice. Now don’t get me wrong, some of the direct to DVD titles Willis has appeared in are pretty good, Fire With Fire for example, but he’s been batting way below average on the Dtv front recently.
