Peter Chen(XXI)

Peter Ziyang Chen is a Chinese American residing and working in New York as a DGA 2nd Assistant Director. After graduating from Stony Brook University, Peter begin working in the film and television industry as a production assistant. He begin his career by walking onto the set of Netflix's The Get Down and worked for free till 5am. seeing this, the Key PA gave him a job for the next day, and the days that followed. During his 5 years as a PA, Peter worked all the PA positions in a variety of films and TV shows, such as Amazon Primes' Mozart in the jungle, Dead Ringers; CBS's Elementary, The Code; Netflix's Gypsy; and features King of Staten Island and I love you Daddy.
Determined to become an assistant director, Peter joined the DGA in February of 2020, shortly before Covid shut down the entire industry. Once the industry resumed, Peter begin working on HBO's Succession, from which he received his first days as an assistant director. from there, he begin working as additional assistant directors on shows such as Dead Ringers, Wutang, and The Green Veil.
In 2022, Peter begin working full time as an assistant director, in both the key 2nd and 2nd 2nd capacity. He worked as the key 2nd AD for Boulderlight Picture's sequel to their hit feature Becky. Titled, Becky II: Wrath of Becky. He was then the 2nd 2nd AD on Navesink River Production's Miranda's Victim. Most recently he just finished working as the 2nd 2nd AD for Apple TV's The crowded room, featuring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried.
In search for his next project, Peter Begin writing his first feature, on the heart wrench life of a man impacted by homelessness.
