Scooby-Doois back, but it won't be how you left it. Netflix is officially tackling the next live-action adaptation of the beloved franchise, this time in the television format. In the early 2000s, there were famously two live-action Scooby-Doo movies made for the big screen, which eventually gained a cult status in the following years. However, Netflix is attempting to make the first modern spin on the property in live-action, this time following the blueprint set by other Hanna-Barbera TV adaptations.
Netflix has officially ordered an eight-episode Scooby-Doo series that will cover the origin of how the titular canine became part of the mystery-solving crew. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will be handling the project alongside producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (Berlanti Productions), and André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner (Midnight Radio). For those that recognize the Berlanti name, the live-action Riverdale series may come to mind. The...

“Scooby-Doo” fans rejoice: A Netflix live-action series is in the works.
Netflix announced that Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions (via the company’s Warner Bros. Television deal) is bringing Scooby to life…literally. This will be the first live-action TV adaptation of the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. The “Scooby-Doo” eight-episode series will tell the origin story for the mystery-solving gang.
The official synopsis reads: “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”

Let another high-profile casting search begin: Netflix has given an eight-episode series order to a live-action reimagining of Warner Bros.’ classic Scooby-Doo cartoon that will track down the origins of the famous mystery-solving teen gang and their beloved dog. The project, from Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, landed for development at the streamer in a competitive situation last spring with a premium, script-to-series commitment.
Written by Midnight Radio’s Josh Appelbaum & Scott Rosenberg (Cowboy Bebop) based on characters created by Hanna-Barbera, the yet untitled Scooby-Doo series crafts an origin story of how the Mystery Inc. group got together and first teamed up to crack the haunting case that started it all.

The American version of The Office is now 20 years old. Some of the talents involved with the hit series took some time to reflect on bringing it to life two decades ago with its earlier episodes, divulging how three of the show's writers wound up pulling double duty as on-screen actors.
Per THR, series creator Greg Daniels shared how B.J. Novak was the first person who was hired for the show. It was planned from the start for Novak to work as both a writer and an actor, and that resulted in him playing Ryan beginning with the very first episode. Daniels said he picked Novak first after recognizing his skills, noting, "It just felt to me like this is a really good place for writer-performers. I wanted to have a writer-performer vibe in the show."

Twenty years ago, NBC premiered a new sitcom based on a hit U.K. series. The Office debuted on March 24, 2005, and was not an immediate hit in its initial six-episode run. The show struggled to find its footing out of the block, with several episodes virtually xeroxed from the storylines of its British predecessor created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and transplanted, often clunkily, to Scranton, Pa. But soon enough showrunner Greg Daniels found his groove and leaned into the strengths of his formidable ensemble, led by Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, and Rainn Wilson.
The Office would go on to become a must-see TV staple, running nine seasons and earning five Emmys in 42 nominations — and then becoming a hit all over again as a new generation rediscovered and binged The Office when it hit streaming. Until 2023, The Office held the record as most-streamed series, with more than 57 billion minutes watched.

On March 24, 2005, NBC aired the first episode of The Office, an American remake of the universally acclaimed, Golden Globe-winning BBC comedy of the same name. The premiere, a mockumentary that introduced the staff of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s branch in Scranton, Pennsylvania, pulled in a decent-sized audience that night. It drew 11.2 million viewers following an episode of The Apprentice — but even with that start, expectations for the show were not high.
NBC had produced a pilot for The Office, written by King of the Hill co-creator Greg Daniels, in early 2004, just after Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s BBC show won the Golden Globe for best comedy and Gervais took home the award for best actor in a comedy. The network ordered the show to series that spring but picked up only five more episodes. After premiering on a Thursday, the remaining episodes ran on Tuesday nights, where it struggled.

Nothing destroys a film's momentum quite like bombing at the box office. While poorly received movies can still be successful should they gross a lot of money, even the most critically acclaimed film is considered a failure if it fails to make its money back upon release. Walt Disney's entertainment juggernaut is all too familiar with financially destitute films, as not every picture can be a winner.
Most know Walt Disney Studios for its load of successful Marvel, animated, and Star Wars movies, Disney's films are all over the list of the worst box office bombs of all time as well. From the well-known to the more forgotten, Disney has made its mark in the annals of most successful and least successful films. But some flopped so badly as to be considered the very bottom of the bottom.

This week marks the 20th anniversary of The Office, the groundbreaking NBC sitcom that redefined workplace comedy and launched the careers of several cast members. Since the show’s debut on March 24, 2005, many of its stars have gone on to successful careers in television and film, earning critical acclaim and industry recognition — but the ensemble surprisingly did not have the greatest success when it came to Emmy Awards.
Leading man Steve Carell starred as Michael Scott, the endearingly incompetent regional manager of the Scranton branch of paper company Dunder Mifflin. He received six Emmy nominations for Best Comedy Actor during his time on The Office and four Best Comedy Series nominations as part of the show’s creative team, which included creator Greg Daniels, who developed the series from the original U.K. version created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. If you find yourself laughing out loud while watching the new sports comedy Running Point, you're not alone. The Netflix hit is "a return to traditional comedy," showrunner-producer David Stassen tells Gold Derby, and it also provides viewers with that "big feel" they've been "craving."
Cocreated by Stassen, Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, and Ike Barinholtz, Running Point stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, a former party girl who becomes the president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. The family-owned business includes older brother Cam (Justin Theroux), middle brother Ness (Scott MacArthur), and younger brother Sandy (Drew Tarver), plus surprise half-brother Jackie (Fabrizio Guido).
The 10-episode first season of Running Point dropped Feb. 27 on Netflix, and it was picked up for Season 2 days later. The series is eligible at the 2025 Emmys in the comedy categories.
Here is our full interview with Stassen, which includes spoilers for the full Season 1.

Noble shared an Instagram post in which he said there are “discussions with some new potential homes for the show,” adding, “But regardless of what happens, I’m proud of this show and the work that so many incredibly talented people put into it.”
The showrunner said this was “not the outcome that I saw coming,” noting the series was “listed as the most watched or second most watched scripted show on the entire platform, for about 70 straight days.”

The Sex Lives of College Girls is shuttering its school doors at Max after three seasons on the streamer. Max will not be producing additional episodes of the coming of age drama, co-created and produced by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble.
Despite the show’s cancellation on Max, announced Tuesday, Warner Bros. Television is looking to keep the show alive on neighboring streamers. Kaling, for example, has a working relationship with Netflix. She co-created the Kate Hudson-starring series Running Point, released on Netflix last month, and the popular drama Never Have I Ever.

You wouldn’t expect Running Point, a comedy about a dynastic basketball family, to open with a reference to Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, but nothing about Mindy Kaling’s latest show is predictable. Running Point, written by longtime friends and collaborators Kaling, David Stassen, and Ike Barinholtz, puts a fresh spin on the quintessential sports underdog story, with a wayward but lovable family at its core.
Enter the Gordons — the clan who run the fictional Los Angeles Waves team in Running Point. On Tuesday afternoon, Max left many viewers stunned when it canceled The Sex Lives of College Girls.
The comedy series was rare in that it was genuinely funny, with powerhouse performances from its leads, Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott.

The cancellation occurred mere months after the conclusion of the third season, leaving everyone wondering where the series could go next.
Instead of the cliffhangers we were accustomed to with the first two seasons, most storylines were closed up reasonably well, hinting that creatives were unsure about the show’s prospects.
Teen-focused series on Max don’t tend to stand the test of time, as evidenced by the Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars reboots being scrapped after their sophomore seasons.

The comedy series was rare in that it was genuinely funny, with powerhouse performances from its leads, Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott.
Simply put, the series cut through a world with a lot of TV, which rarely happens.

The Sex Lives Of College Girls Cancelled After Season 3 On Max, Show Will Attempt To Find A New Home

The Sex Lives of College Girls has been canceled after three seasons on Max, but the show will attempt to find a new home. Co-created by Mindy Kaling, the dramedy series follows four first-year roommates at the fictional Essex College in Vermont, focusing specifically on their sexually active lifestyles as they navigate the complexities of early adulthood. The Sex Lives of College Girls' cast includes Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Reneé Rapp, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Gavin Leatherwood, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and many more.
Now, the show has come to an end, at least for now. According to Deadline, The Sex Lives of College Girls has officially been canceled at Max after three seasons, but Warner Bros. Television has reportedly been exploring options to keep the show alive, with Netflix being a possible landing spot, but is considered a long shot due to the complexities of such a move. Wbtv declined to comment on the report.

The Sex Lives of College Girls has been canceled after three seasons at Max, but production company Warner Bros. Television is exploring finding a new home for the series, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The Mindy Kaling co-created coming-of-age comedy’s most recent season wrapped in January and saw the departure of original castmember Reneé Rapp, who left two episodes into the latest run.
Sex Lives ran a mostly cliffhanger-free third-season finale leading some viewers to wonder if this was the end of the show, even though the characters were only midway through their sophomore year and the series was pretty consistently near the top of Max’s top 10 list of most-viewed shows (though that didn’t translate to making Nielsen’s wider top 10 streaming charts).
Co-showrunner Justin Noble, who oversaw the show with Kaling, insisted at the time that the episode wasn’t meant to wrap up the series.

“The Sex Lives of College Girls” is not moving forward for a fourth season at Max.
The college-set series, which was co-created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, was canceled at Max after three seasons, TheWrap learned Tuesday. The news came less than two months after “The Sex Lives of College Girls” debuted its Season 3 finale in late January, which saw an unexpected coming out story for Amrit Kaur’s Bela, as well as an emotional moment for transfer student Kacey (Gracie Lawrence).
Despite the cancellation at Max, Noble is hoping to find a new home for the Warner Bros. TV series, and shared on social media the show is “in discussions with some potential new homes for the show.”

The series aired for three seasons at the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service. Season 3 of the show debuted in November, with the season finale airing on Jan. 25. The show itself originally premiered on Max in 2021.
Mindy Kaling co-created the series with Justin Noble under her overall deal with studio Warner Bros. Television. Per the official logline, it “follows a group of college students at New England’s prestigious Essex College.”
Reps for Wbtv declined to comment, but according to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the studio is currently shopping the show to other outlets.

Netflix's latest sports comedy, which debuted late last month, is off to a flying start. Running Point, starring the talented Kate Hudson in its lead role, was renewed for a second season just one week after its release. Given that Netflix takes its time to analyze the numbers before renewing a series, the incredibly quick renewal of Running Pointstands as a testament to the faith that the streamer has in the series.
Created for screens by Mindy Kaling, alongside Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, Running Point centers on the Gordon family and their legacy in professional basketball. Loosely drawing inspiration from real life, the series chronicles its protagonist, Isla Gordon, as she navigates leading the Los Angeles Waves Basketball team. Her path isn't easy, as she faces challenge after challenge from her team, her family, and even her romantic partner. However, in weaving a narrative of both heart and humor,...

Timeless rom-coms don’t come frequently, requiring a level of chemistry that simply cannot be faked. However, when they do, they leave an impact that lasts decades. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was one such film, predominantly because of the dynamic that Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey shared.

When a couple has chemistry as good as Andie and Ben had in the 2003 classic, fans are forced to wonder if the lead stars actually share a similar connection in real life. While most actors are simply just really good at what they do, sometimes lines can blur and feelings are caught.
With this, the question arises—what happened between Hudson and McConaughey in real life?

British royal family news divulges that Meghan Markle admitted she was wrong after her Netflix show was destroyed by critics unimpressed with flower food.
She claims to have made some mistakes in life but declared she is learning something new every day. She made the comments in an interview with the bookshop Godmothers.
Among the talking points are that she reads books to Prince Harry’s kids Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, and her newest non-failed lifestyle brand, As Ever, is her “heartsong.”

Netflix's Running Pointdebuted on February 27, 2025, and instantly rose to the top of the streamer's charts. The series currently claims the coveted #1 spot on Netflix's weekly Global Top 10 Shows with over 12 million views. Developed for screens by the talented Mindy Kaling, alongside Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, and starring powerhouse Kate Hudson, Running Point was off to a flying start from the get-go.
The heartfelt and endearing narrative of the series blends professional basketball with family dynamics and unassuming humor, making Running Point the perfect binge-watch. Revolving around Kate Hudson's Isla Gordon, the only sister in the Gordon family, the series chronicles Isla's behemoth task of helming the Los Angeles Waves basketball team when the presidency is abruptly handed to her by her elder brother. In doing so, Running Point touches on poignant themes, including familial relationships, love, legacy and personal growth, taking the series much further than amounting to a mere comedy.

Prince Harry Only Shows Up In Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle Show’s Finale Episode
Meghan Markle is proving that she means lifestyle business by keeping the royal topics to the bare minimum. Apart from telling Mindy Kaling that she now goes by the last name Sussex, the 43-year-old Duchess did her best to showcase how passionate she is about lifestyle.

Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, has slammed his daughter’s new Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan” and claims, “Meghan has never been authentic” and is “out of touch with the real world.”
Mr. Markle Is Offended By Meghan Insisting She Is Called “Meghan Sussex”
Mr. Markle is also not too keen on Meghan, insisting that she be called “Meghan Sussex.” In what many viewers dubbed an “astonishingly rude moment,” Meghan corrected her celebrity friend, Mindy Kaling.
She said,
“It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle, you know I’m a Sussex now.”
Meghan claimed that Sussex is a meaningful last name she shares with her kids. However, she’s still trying to capitalize on her royal title.
Mr. Markle explained,
“My mum loved Meghan very much but would be so disappointed to hear that Meghan no longer wants to use the name ‘Markle.’ My mother was proud to be a Markle.

For many of us, Meghan Markle’s Netflix cooking show was a big leap for the Duchess because she kept all things royal to the very minimum.
Apart from a few Princess Diana nods here and there and telling Mindy Kaling that she now prefers to go by the last name Sussex, Meghan just cooked, cleaned, and carried on.
However, a former defender has somehow spotted one tiny detail that made her doubt the genuineness of her story.
Comedian Katherine Ryan Turns On Meghan Markle For This Key Reason
Did Meghan Markle know who Prince Harry was before they hooked up or did she not? If you ask Meghan, she’ll say nay.
If you ask her haters, they’ll say aye and cite the fact that she posed with a magazine that has Princess Kate on the cover, as well as visited Buckingham Palace as a kid. If you ask Katherine Ryan,...

Exclusive: Netflix’s The Residence, which was originally announced as a drama and feels like a limited series with its season-long murder mystery format, will be submitted as a comedy for awards consideration, starting with the upcoming Emmys.
The move is not entirely surprising as the Shondaland-produced whodunit, starring Uzo Aduba and Randall Park, has a strong comedic bent in the vein of Hulu’s Only Murders In the Building. John Mulaney returned to Netflix last night with his Everybody’s in L.A., er, Everybody’s Live comedy talk show. The show continues to be a chaotic, occasionally inspired mess — more on that below — but its live nature might be the best reason to stream in real time. Mulaney appears intent on booking eclectic wild cards as guests, and the strategy paid off last night with legendary folk singer and political activist Joan Baez.
Last night’s hour was built around a hodgepodge of celebrities giving live callers advice about lending and borrowing money. After a segment featuring Michael Keaton and a personal finance expert, the panel expanded to bring in Fred Armisen and Baez.

The show’s ratings didn’t match the audience turnout for the docuseries about the couple’s personal and professional life in 2022.

Did Meghan Cook for the Crew of Her Netflix Show?

David Stassen might have been cosmically intended to work on Running Point. The showrunner, who produces and writes the basketball comedy with longtime collaborators Ike Barinholtz and Mindy Kaling, explains as much in front of a prominently placed box of Wheaties on his bookcase during a February Zoom. “I’m a huge Chicago basketball fan,” says Stassen, who grew in the city with Barinholtz. “That is the 1991 Bulls — original and unopened.”
The mummified “Breakfast of Champions” adds to Stassen’s cred on Netflix’s instantly renewed Kate Hudson vehicle, though not as much as the string of projects he’s made with his producing partner. After meeting at summer camp and eventually attending high school together — and slight detour for Stassen at ESPN’s Washington, D.C., studio — he and Barinholtz got their big break in the writers room for The Mindy Project. They co-wrote Central Intelligence, and Stassen produced...

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” is the Sussexes “Hail Mary” to try to salvage their lucrative $100 million dollar deal with the streaming giant.
The Duchess of Sussex recently celebrated the renewal of her banal and poorly reviewed lifestyle series for a second season, which airs in the fall.
Netflix Already Filmed The “Second Season”
That being said, Netflix insiders have revealed the truth behind the curtain, which is that the second season was shot back-to-back with season one last year.
When Meghan made the announcement of a second season, she acted like it was a surprise her show was “renewed,” and on March 7th, she was seen celebrating her “success” and waving her arms in the air in supposed victory.
“It’s not a runaway success,”
The insider explained. According to the Daily Mail,

Executive producers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel are lending their star power to global impact campaign #StandWithHer, inspired by director Nisha Pahuja’s Oscar-nominated documentary “To Kill a Tiger.”
Launching on Wednesday in New York City, the campaign aims to combat gender-based violence worldwide through a partnership between Pahuja and NGOs Equality Now, Equimundo, MenEngage Alliance and the Ramesh and Kalpana Bhatia Family Foundation.
“Gender-based violence is a global crisis, yet too often, it remains hidden in the shadows,” Chopra Jonas said in a statement. “I am honored to support the #StandWithHer campaign, inspired by Nisha’s powerful documentary ‘To Kill a Tiger,’ to help drive meaningful change.”

No one, really no one, was thinking that all the world needs right now is an old-fashioned lifestyle series on Netflix with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, as the host. Did the streaming platform still deliver it? Yes, and the lemon-honey-floral-themed cover is impossible to miss. Released on March 4 and consisting of 8 episodes, With Love, Meghan is meant to be a fun, whimsical lifestyle series, capturing the essence of the Duchess as she shares her little tips and tricks with the world. In reality, though, it’s… well, let’s just say different.
Meghan is not only the face of With Love, Meghan (shocker), but she also co-produced the show with Prince Harry’s Archwell Productions, which received a $100 million deal. A lot could have gone right with a project like this, but somehow, the Duchess failed to hit the right tone. To top it off, With Love, Meghan...

Kate Hudson is a certified rom-com queen. She has a long list of successful and beloved films but has now switched to television with a new comedy series, Running Point.
The Netflix original series premiered on the platform on Feb. 27, and since then, it has become a major hit. It debuted strongly in the charts in its first week and received positive reviews from both critics and the audience. Per Tudum, the sports comedy series continues to be popular, and it has thrown its shot and managed to make it to the first spot.
In its first week, Kate Hudson's Running Point debuted in third place with 9.3 million views and 47.2 million hours viewed. It was just behind Robert De Niro's limited series Zero Day and the docuseries American Murder: Gabby Petito. However, it quickly started to gain terrain.
In its second week on the platform, Running Point added even more views.
