End Times, the post-apocalyptic zombie film starring horror icon Jamie Bernadette and Craig Stark is out now in limited theaters and on VOD. Jim Towns, writes and directs and The Asylum distributes the feature.

End Times follows a pair of mismatched travelers, Claire and Freddie (Bernadette and Stark), as they try to escape a deadly pandemic that has turned Los Angeles into a zombie-infested wasteland. Claire is a privileged young suburbanite ill-equipped to survive in this hostile new landscape, until she meets Freddie, a retired soldier who lost his daughter to the virus. As they travel together to reach the perimeter, Freddie teaches Claire the skills that will enable Claire to survive, and the uneasy partnership between the two grows into something more akin to a father/daughter relationship. Before they can reach safety, the two will have to escape brutal gangs, cannibals, cults, and the undead.

How many ride-sharing, serial killing, psychos are we going to get in horror movies? We seem to be getting a new rideshare horror movie at least once every-other month! It seems the “killer in the woods” trope of the genre is officially being replaced by guys (or girls) driving around in rideshare vehicles killing folks willy-nilly. To be fair though, “don’t get into cars with strangers” has been something of a cultural touchstone since the invention of the motor vehicle, though in my day that ‘threat’ was usually aimed at kids and strangers with candy tempting children into vans!

Given that we’ve had a lot of these kinds of films recently, as a filmmaker it’s starting to take...

Some time in the future Tony (Juan Antonio Devoto) flies out into the desert looking for something known as The Prototype (hence the name of the film). Once he locates it and digs it up it turns out to be Garrett Brown (Mark Vasconcellos).

He’s been buried in a life-sustaining pod for over three hundred years, even sleeping through a nuclear war. He’s just managing to get a grip on this, and the fact that Tony is long dead and this his clone when aliens turn up and start shooting at them which causes Garrett to have flashbacks. That’s all in The Prototype’s first five minutes.

A few details have emerged for Patrick Fogarty's The 27 Club. This title, from Cleopatra Entertainment, looks at a strange, cultural myth. Why have so many celebrities died at 27? Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morris and many more have all dropped dead (usually due to excess) at this pivotal age. The film even has a guest appearance, from the grave, of Amy Winehouse. And, The 27 Club stars: Maddisyn Carter (The Devil's Carnival), Victoria De Mare (Killjoy Goes to Hell), Todd Rundgren and John Hennigan plays Jim Morrison. All of these actors come together in one of this year's more bizarre films. A preview of the film's upcoming launch is hosted here. John Lechago's horror film, Killjoy's Psycho Circus, has already debuted on television. Now, the film is set to hit DVD and Video-on-demand markets, this December. This is the fifth film in the series, in which a Hell bound clown causes chaos. The film stars: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo and Tim Chizmar. A new clip for the film, titled "Hot Killer Clown Flips the Switch" is hosted here. The official synopsis talks about Killjoy and his new murderous journeys on Earth. He has started a new web series, but is unhappy with mortal trappings. Batty Boop (De Mare) has left him. And, Killjoy is not coping well with his new form. Now, Beelzebub (Stephen F. Cardwell) is on his trail and Killjoy will have to gather his clownish army, for one final battle. The "Hot Killer Clown Flips the Switch" shows Killjoy's new web series.

Over the last few years Steven Chang has emerged as one of the most active members of the indie horror community. There is no question that Mr. Chang is deeply passionate about the various artists that he promotes through his Facebook "spotlights," as well as his various Facebook pages. I also like to believe that the artists Chang supports appreciate his boundless enthusiasm for them and their work. Killjoy’s Psycho Circus screens at the market today [Saturday] and marks the latest in the horror franchise starring Trent Haaga as the vengeful demon and killer clown who has arrived on Earth and become complacent.

When Beelzebub comes after him, Killjoy must reunite his crew and prepare for the mother of all battles. Victoria DeMare and Robert Sydney also star.

Puppetmaster: Axis Termination recently wrapped production and is due for delivery in January. The latest episode in the long-running fantasy series stars Paul Logan, Tonia Kay and Tania Fox.

Two's company and three's a crowd--but four can soar! At least that's what the good folks at haRFMFul Productions, Sick Puppy Pictures, MOnsterworks66 and Lion Arch Productions believe as they prep a three-feature slate to shoot in Louisiana later this year or early in 2016!

Rycke Foreman (haRMFul), Phil Condit (Sick Puppy), Maria Olsen (MO66) and Lionel Archuleta (Lion Arch) are developing a slate of three horror-comedies for production in Louisiana and are presently attaching cast and finalizing budgets before approaching La. investors. The three films, Happy Ending, Hacked Off and Grizzled! (#Hehog) are all zany romps through HorCom Land featuring lovely ladies, buckets of blood, hunky heroes and terrifyingly funny Big Bads.

In the late 90s/early 2000′s there was a distinct new trend in the horror genre: that of “urban horror”. A genre that brought urban black cinema, and all-black casts, together with the horror genre in much the same way as it did in the 70s during the blaxploitation era. Whilst films like Bones and Vampire in Brooklyn (despite being something of a critical failure) had iconic stars such as Snoop Dogg and Eddie Murphy respectively, it was smaller movies such as Rusty Cundieff’s Tales From the Hood that had all the ideas (if you haven’t seen Tales… you should really track it down).

Actress Sadie Katz will follow up her frightening turn in next month's Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort with zombie apocalypse flick State of Desolation.

Written and directed by Jim Towns (House of Bad), the film also stars Jamie Bernadette (Axeman, Mile Marker 7), Craig Stark (Django Unchained), Dominique Swain (Lolita, Face/Off), Kaiwi Lyman (Reel Evil), Daniel Buran ("True Blood"), Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3), and Victoria De Mare (Werewolf in a Women's Prison).

The character drama tells of a retired mercenary with a dark past (Stark), who rescues a spoiled young suburbanite (Bernadette) and must train her to survive in this savage new world.

After the success of their recent web series Trophy Heads, Full Moon Entertainment has decided to fire up another... and this time they're resurrecting one of their most beloved characters to do so. Be prepared for Killjoy's Psycho Circus.

Bringing back the director of the past two Killjoy films, John Lechago, as well as stars Trent Haaga and Victoria DeMare, and adding on Al Burke and Tai Chan Ngo, Killjoy's Psycho Circus promises to be more of the crazy insanity that made audiences fall in love with the clown and his merry troop in the past.

As with Trophy Heads, Killjoy's Psycho Circus will be released in several segments to allow Charles Band and the rest of the Full Moon production team a chance to present the film in a cliffhanger-type series. Then, after the initial web series has run its course, the film will eventually be released in its entirety.

Phil Condit of Sick Puppy Pictures and Maria Olsen of MOnsterworks66 have teamed up to bring the world Happy Ending: an epic tale of sword-and-shotgun wielding hookers, hunky heroes and attacking aliens.

Set in a remote desert bordello, Happy Ending tells the tale of Madam Wang, played by Ange Maya, who stars in Phil’s soon-to-be-released Empress Vampire, and her band of lovely lasses who, with the help of their Johns, have to team up to stop a voracious being-from-beyond-the-stars from taking over the world!

Tagline: "The bad clown is going down." The first trailer for Killjoy Goes to Hell was released this week. This is the fourth film from Full Moon Features, which deals with a demonic clown. Actor Trent Haaga will reprise his role and this time Killjoy finds himself in the fiery blazes below. In the story for the film, this white-faced clown is accused of being too soft on mortals. He must prove that he is still evil or lose his powers forever. Killjoy will have to bring his fellow demons to the witness stand including: Batty Boop (Victoria De Mare), Punchy (Al Burke) and Freakshow (Tai Chan Ngo). Not sure if the world has been clamoring for a fourth Killjoy movie, but I must say Killjoy Goes to Hell looks quite intriguing. It's based around the idea of a demonic movie slasher being put on trial in the devil’s courtroom for repeatedly failing to kill his last victim.

Synopsis:

The demon clown Killjoy is on trial in Hell! Having failed in his last outing to claim his victim's soul, he must face the devil himself in Hell's courtroom and prove that he's evil and worthy of a demon. His only hope is the testimony of his last victim and a trial by combat. Killjoy's murderous minions Batty Boop, Punchy, and Freakshow plot a daring rescue attempt, but they have nosy detectives, renegade clowns, and a whole mess of demons in their way. If they fail, Killjoy is damned to oblivion, never to return!

Trent Haaga returns...

Killjoy 3 must have been a modest hit for Full Moon despite the near decade long lay-off between sequels. You won’t have to wait nearly ten more years for the next installment since Killjoy Goes to Hell is about to begin filming.

I didn’t see Killjoy 3 but have heard it was supposed to be pretty decent, certainly the best in the franchise, which, admittedly, is not saying much. Killjoy 3 writer/director John Lechago and Killjoy performer Trent Haaga are set to return for Killjoy Goes to Hell which Full Moon is promising will be “the most insane Killjoy movie of all time.”

Also returning from Killjoy 3 will be his killer clown posse (Punchy, Freakshow, and Batty Boop) played by Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, and Victoria De Mare.

No actual plot details have been announced yet but given the title I’m going to go...

This reviewer knows John Lechago mostly from his excellent directing work on Killjoy 3. This was a film with a lot of imagination, putting characters in a hellish, but fun world. This film starred Victoria De Mare and Al Burke. Both of these actors also star in Lechago's latest called Bio-Slime. Previously called Contagion, Bio-Slime has been referred to as a blob movie: "a decent blob movie" (Monster). This reviewer would simply call it a B-movie, or a film likely to see a DVD release and made for under a million. Bio-Slime's budget was much lower than this with much of the finances dedicated to special effects artist Tom Devlin's creations. Horror actresses and filmmakers are hosting a charity clothing drive at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, California, USA in honor of Women in Horror Month.

The women headlining the event are Elissa Dowling, Victoria DeMare, Monique Parent, Rachel Grubb, Eileen Dietz, Michelle Tomlinson, Mo Whelan, Reyna Young, Melissa Krimsky, Brooke Lewis and Tara Cardinal. Many more are expected to make appearances to support them.

The Clothing Drive, aka “Strip for a Cause,” created by Tara Cardinal, will benefit the La Chapter of Covenant House. Representatives from Covenant House will be on hand to collect donations.

Each year horror sites, newspapers, magazines and other forms of media like to compile these silly "Best of," or "Worst of" lists. Here at 28Dla, we like to follow the crowds, but in a different way. This year's lists will consist of various categories including "Top Five Indie Horror Films," "Top Five Major Horror Release," "Top Five Foreign Horror," "Worst Horror Films of 2010," and "Most Anticipated Horror Films of 2011." These lists will be a little more focused. So, let us start with this first list titled "Top Five Indie Horror Films."

Now, this is a year where close to fifty independent films were reviewed on this site. There was the pain of Danny Dyer's Basement from Revolver Entertainment to highlights like Die-Ner, Get It? and the over-the-top and disturbing Harpoon: Whale Watching Massacre. This list will give you the "Best of" in this competitive genre, as this reviewer has seen the gamut.

Full Moon Entertainment is the company behind such horror films as Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Arcade, Shrunken Heads, Shadowzone, Evil Bong, Voodoo Academy, etc. This past year with the release of Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, Demonic Toys 2, and director John Lechago's Killjoy 3, Full Moon Entertainment has gotten back to what made them a success to begin with. With the recent announcement of Evil Bong 3-D, Full Moon Entertainment seems due for a resurrgence after years of struggling. So what does this all have to do with one Mr. John Lechago? Well you see, like Full Moon Entertainment, Mr. Lechago seems to have his career back on track like the company that he has worked for. The demonic clown, Killjoy, who takes murderous revenge on whomever his summoner wishes uses a group of college students as bait to lure in a college professor who summoned him, but didn't name an actual victim for him to kill. 

Watching a film like Killjoy 3 viewers should admittedly know that they are not getting into a film on par with something like The Exorcist. It's just supposed to be a fun way to kill eighty minutes, to have some laughs and to enjoy a few cheap thrills. With that in mind, Killjoy 3 is easily the most successful entry in this franchise. With this, Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and Demonic Toys 2, which were all released this year, Full Moon Entertainment is on a definite comeback trail.

A new trailer for John Lechago's 'Bio Slime' has arrived online. Uh-oh, no wait, scratch that - 'Bio Slime' has become 'Contagion'. The potentially unneccesary re-titling was done to help 'appease international buyers at the American Film Market'. Not quite sure that works especially as director Steven Soderbergh ('Traffic', 'Ocean's Eleven', 'Solaris') already has an action-thriller of the same name lined up for next year with big hitter stars such as Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet and Jude Law all currently filming. You'll just have to make do with hotties like Monique La Barr and Victoria De Mare (whom appears topless in the flick - seen below). Anyhoo the name change will stick and 'Contagion' will ooze across the oceans very soon and you can check out the new trailer below....

Killjoy 3 Concept ArtThere is something disturbing about clowns turned murderous. Clowns are designed to entertain children, but when you give them sharp teeth and lines like: "your ass is mine!" all sorts of difficult emotions emerge. Killjoy the clown is central to the story of Killjoy 3, which was filmed in China (Dread) and now preparing to horrify North American audiences December 14th. Apparently there were two other films in this series and they were totally missed by this reviewer; however this second sequel is sure to keep you away from the circus for quite some time. Try to enjoy the trailer for this project, which is full of great one-liners from actor Trent Haaga!

Here's a brand new trailer for John Lechago's "Bioslime", starring Vinnie Bilancio, Victoria De Mare, Ronnie Lewis, Kelli Kaye, Gia Paloma, Magic J. Ellingson, Micol Bartolucci, Al Burke "Bioslime" revolves around a group of seven people that become trapped in an art studio together after a mysterious glob of slime is accidently unleashed. They fight for survival as they try and formulate a plan to escape the room and out the building before the evil ooze can get them. ...

Writer/director John Lechago gave Fango the first look at the latest trailer for his indie creature feature Bioslime, as well as a couple of new exclusive photos; you can feast your eyes on them below the cut. The movie, on which Lechago also served as cinematographer, editor, visual FX supervisor and set designer, is currently in postproduction.

“I am finishing up the visual effects, but there is still a great deal of work to be done,” Lechago tells us. “I’m getting some help from a colleague of mine who’s an excellent effects artist, and I still have a little more insert shooting for background plates. Other than that, the music score is done and the sound editing is well underway. The polish is a meticulous and labor-intesive process, especially for a low-budget production. I want this thing to look as good as it possibly can!”

Bioslime stars...

Fango recently made a whirlwind visit to the set of director Jt Seaton’s currently shooting zombie flick George’S Intervention (which we first reported on here). Filming in a private residence in Hollywood just off Sunset Boulevard, the crew immediately spots this writer entering the grounds—and the police, who are only steps behind.

“Hey, Fango’s here!” exclaims a Pa during a camera move.

“So’s the Lapd,” this reporter replies, glancing at the two cops flanking him.

“He’s got an entourage!” laughs Seaton, who then confers with the officers, assuring them that all permits are in place and the production is on the up-and-up. It seems a certain neighbor has mistakenly “smelled money” at the sight of the film crew, and has since been harassing the production with misplaced calls to La’s finest.
