Syfy had us worried for a bit waiting for news about a potential third season of The Ark, about what's left of humanity traveling the stars in search of a new place to live. There’s finally a confirmation on the show’s future, and it’s good news.
Yes, The Ark season 3 is officially happening. TVLine shared the exciting news, which comes five months after the season 2 finale. At this point, I had to admit that I feared the worst for the sci-fi series.
When could The Ark season 3 premiere on Syfy?
As well as confirming that the third season would happen, Syfy has also shared that the season is on track to be part of the 2026 calendar. This makes sense with the renewal only just coming in now. As a sci-fi series, there is a lot of CGI involved and that means a long time in post-production.

Taylor Swift’s least convincing lyric to date remains “I make the rules up as I go/And that’s what they don’t know,” from 1989’s “Shake It Off.” Now, four albums into her Taylor’s Version re-recordings, she has the good sense to sing that line with a hint of a smirk.
As with each of the previous Taylor’s Version releases, 1989 invites a degree of studiousness, of finding those slight changes in inflection and phrasing that play into both Swift’s fans’ devotion to the most minute details of her work and critics’ need to assess her output in a post-poptimist discourse. To that end, 1989 is perhaps the least noteworthy of her re-recordings so far.
Ultimately, that’s partly because the original 1989 has a lower ceiling for improvement than Swift’s first four albums. It was the first of her albums that captured truly great artistry without qualification or caveat.

Initially, Syfy’s The Ark is a rough ride — and not only because the premiere episode opens with a catastrophic event that destroys much of the spaceship it’s set on, along with most of its passengers.
Its premise feels borrowed from countless other sci-fi tales. Its heroes seem to have been plucked half-formed from a factory of tired tropes. And its tone is off somehow, as if showrunners Dean Devlin (Leverage) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1) haven’t yet decided whether to lean into the grimness of its survival drama, or into the jarring uplift of its credits theme.

And its tone is off somehow, as if showrunners Dean Devlin (Leverage) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1) haven’t yet decided whether to lean into the grimness of its survival drama, or into the jarring uplift of its credits theme.

The Ark looks like a throwback to the good old days of sci-fi series on Syfy.
The cable network released the first five minutes of the new drama, and we're convinced.
We pick up with a catastrophic event that awakens Lt. Sharon Garnet (Christie Burke) from her slumber.
Unfortunately, the event could lead to a loss of life, and Sharon is ready to go to any lengths necessary to save as many people as possible.
It's a high-stakes situation and one that requires a lot of attention.
There are tears as some of her colleagues lose loved ones, but Sharon has to think about the needs of the many as she battles to make the spaceship liveable, even for a short time.

"Everybody that was in charge of running this ship is dead… It all falls to us now." Syfy has revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi series debuting in February called The Ark, created for the sci-fi network. It's co-created by Jonathan Glassner, and Dean Devlin, best known as the writer of the screenplays for Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla, and Geostorm. Set 100 years in the future when Earth is sending out its first interplanetary colonization ships. The story follows the remaining crew of a spacecraft known as Ark One, who must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course & survive after a catastrophic event that causes massive destruction and loss of life on the ship. This sounds similar to other sci-fi with this premise like the two films Passengers and Aniara. It stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read, and Ryan Adams. It has that very cheap Syfy look & feel,...

Of all the places to be lost, space is pretty high up on the list of undesirable locations. Becoming adrift in the near-infinite nothingness of the universe is a provocative concept, so much so that one of the most iconic sci-fi TV series ever just went ahead and named itself after it.
Becoming lost in space isn’t the only thing to fear among the stars, however. For instance: what if you know where you’re going but lack the adequate life-sustaining resources to get there? That is the question at the center of Syfy’s next original series, The Ark.
Premiering Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. Et on Syfy, The Ark brings a simple, yet horrifying situation to the table. Per the official Syfy synopsis: “The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race.

Syfy’s targeting a February 2023 premiere for the new original sci-fi series The Ark from showrunners and executive producers Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate Sg-1). The 15-second first teaser doesn’t reveal much about the plot, other than that there appears to be some sort of emergency in space.
Fortunately, Syfy’s synopsis of the series offers much better insight into what’s in store:

Space travel never goes well in sci-fi and horror, and that seems to be the case once more in the eerie first look at Dean Devlin‘s upcoming Syfy series, “The Ark.”
The teaser and first look images, below, hint at a tense bid for survival amidst catastrophe. Dead bodies litter the hall and quick glances at terrified faces indicate the crew on this spacecraft is in for a rough time.
More importantly, it reveals that we can expect this sci-fi nightmare to arrive in February 2023.

Was the last rock renaissance really in New York City in the aughts? That’s the claim filmmakers Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace make with their documentary adaptation of music journalist Lizzie Goodman’s book “Meet Me in the Bathroom: Rebirth and Rock and Roll in New York City 2001-2011.”
This scuzzy, dreamy nonfiction greatest hits compilation prefers lyricism to reportage, with testimony told entirely in voiceover instead of talking heads. It’s also entirely a montage of on-the-fly found footage — of concerts, early interviews, Courtney Love flashing her boobs to a crowd of frothing onlookers during her 24-hour MTV takeover — and . The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Moldy Peaches, James Murphy, and Interpol all get significant play here, with the film going back to their DIY roots in Lower Manhattan — but leaves us hanging from there. In other ones, “Meet Me” is music to the ears of their...

New York, a city responsible for bands such as The Velvet Underground, Blondie and Ramones, was a cultural wasteland by the late 90s and the wider music scene was pumping out shlock like Limp Bizkit and Hoobastank.
As Adam Green says in the opening scenes of Meet Me In The Bathroom, a documentary based on Lizzy Goodman’s oral history of nYc’s musical rebirth, “Maybe New York wasn’t the kind of city anymore that produces iconic bands”.
Then came The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem and many more over the next ten years, turning the Lower East Side and Brooklyn into hipster havens.
I remember the excitement when The Strokes, a gang of good-looking skinny boys with filthy hair and a filthier attitude, broke, in part thanks to the British music press, as I hustled for a copy of their Rough Trade debut...

SurrealEstate is headed back to Syfy.
The cable drama is getting a reprieve, one year after being canceled by the network.
The series will be back on the air in 2023.
Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, Adam Korson, Maurice Dean Wint, Savannah Basley, and Tennille Read star in the series.
The series follows realtor Nick Roman and an elite team of specialists that handle the cases no one else can: haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away.
Researching, investigating and "fixing" the things that go bump in the night, the team works to create closure - and closings -- even as they struggle with demons of their own.
Syfy also announced that Chucky will be making its comeback this year, alongside the back half of Resident Alien Season 2.
Also on tap for the fall is Bring It On: Cheer or Die.

For years now, one common question among advocates of the #MeToo movement is when the music industry will face its own reckoning. Musicians like Ryan Adams, Marylin Manson and R. A new advocacy foundation is done waiting.

Syfy’s “The Ark” has cast Christina Wolfe, who plays Julia Butterworth on The CW’s “Batwoman,” as recurring character Cat Brandice, the network exclusively revealed to TheWrap on Wednesday.
The series from “Independence Day” producer and writer Dean Devlin, is set 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions begin to ensure the survival of the human race. After a catastrophic event aboard the first ship to launch, Ark One, the remaining crew must do what they can to survive until they reach their target planet, which is still a year’s travel away.
Wolfe, whose character is Ark One’s psychologist, was also a series regular in two seasons of “The Royals” on E!. She is represented by The Artists Partnership and Link Entertainment.
Shalini Peiris of ITV’s “Good Karma Hospital” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will also recur as Dr. Sanjivni Kabir, the ship’s doctor.

Adapting Lizzy Goodman’s novel of the same name, Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern’s Meet Me in the Bathroom captures the essence of late-90s, early-2000s New York, covering the periods right before and after 9/11. For primarily capturing the rise of the Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and LCD Soundsystem, it represents a nostalgia for a time of independence, a moment in which an entire music scene could bloom out of near nothingness. Full of live concert footage and archival interviews, the documentary finds the two U.K.-based filmmakers embracing the shaggy, messy nature of the bands they’re depicting.
Ten years after their LCD Soundsytem concert doc Shut Up and Play the Hits, the directors assemble a mythological picture of New York, a city bursting at the seams with new musicians and a new wave of rock. Julian Casablancas of the Strokes and Karen O of the...
