Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are back with their latest project, the satirical comedy The Studio, which aims to poke fun at the high-stakes, pressure-filled environment of Hollywood.
In the series, Rogen plays studio head Matt Remick, who handles Martin Scorsese’s final project in the show’s fictional universe. However, circumstances led to Remick scrapping Scorsese’s final project.

Ridley Scott isn't necessarily known for making movies based on pre-existing IPs, with the director instead adapting novels and creating original stories which then become multi-billion-dollar franchises. But, according to Seth Rogen, who co-created and stars in The Studio, Apple TV+'s new hilarious critique of the Hollywood industrial system, Scott once pitched him a bonkers idea for an IP-based film. What was the franchise that Scott wanted to turn into a "fancy" film? Monopoly!
During an interview with Variety to promote The Studio, Seth Rogen revealed that Ridley Scott was once attached to direct a Monopoly movie, which inspired one of the funniest jokes in the new show's first episode. In The Studio, Rogen, who plays new studio exec, Matt Remick, is tasked with finding a director for his Kool-Aid movie, leading him to Martin Scorsese. In 2003, a few years after “Freaks and Geeks” and a few before “Superbad,” Seth Rogen sat in a Hollywood boardroom with his best friend and creative partner, Evan Goldberg. They were barely legal and new to Los Angeles, pitching a teen sex comedy set in ancient Rome called “Gen Ccx.” Rogen doesn’t remember much about the script — it never got made. But something an executive said at the meeting stuck with him for more than two decades.
“I love movies, but now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them,” the unnamed exec told them. Twenty-two years later, that tragicomic koan would become the driving force behind “The Studio,” the scorching showbiz satire that stars Rogen as the newly appointed head of a film studio. Rogen recites that line in the first episode of the Apple TV+ comedy, out March 26.

Hollywood is a strange place right now. Studios seem to want the best of both worlds as they push director-driven films while still finding ways to make a profit. The newest Apple TV+ show, The Studio, tackles these ideas with comedic insight. Seth Rogen leads the show as the new studio executive of the fictional continental studios, and the series finds him talking to actors and directors, while finding new and creative voices, though he still tries to make his studio profitable.
The Studio starts at the end of March. It's certainly worth marking on your calendar, as the series is already certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with 97%. With big stars like Martin Scorsese, Catherine O'Hara, and Bryan Cranston rounding out the cast, The Studio promises to be one of the more memorable shows of this year. Here's how to watch.

Apple TV+’s The Studio aims to give audiences a peek behind the Hollywood curtain. Funnily enough, it was reported years ago that Seth Rogen had pitched an idea at HBO that pre-dated Entourage, but would be very similar in navigating the glamour of showbiz and would also intend to show some inside baseball on the film industry in Hollywood. Rogen gets to do it in a different fashion with his new TV series and, just like Entourage, there are cameos aplenty by a large number of people playing a version of themselves.
The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed the extensive list of who will be appearing in The Studio. If you’d rather be surprised by who shows up, you can probably consider these spoilers.

Based on the early reviews, AppleTV+ might be gearing up for a major hit on March 26, 2025, when the first two episodes of Seth Rogen’s satire The Studio premiere on the service. Namely, the series hasn’t even premiered yet and it’s already generating a lot of buzz.
Created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, the series will focus on the challenges in the life of Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, as he has to keep the company afloat in a rapidly changing industry and during rapidly changing times.

Since 2012, with its first theatrical release, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, A24 has been hooking audiences with a distinct style emphasizing unbridled creativity. Many A24 films earn an R-rating, allowing filmmakers to push the boundaries with taboo subjects, steering away from the fear of studio interference if a film isn't seen as particularly palatable for general audiences.
With so many R-rated films, it's hard to narrow down the best of the best, as each A24 film is unique in presentation and structure, even if it's from the same director. From bone-chilling horror movies to gripping dramas, these R-rated A24 flicks exhibit true artistry and an extensive knowledge of the craft of filmmaking that's difficult to achieve.

John Cena didn’t have a great year at the movies in 2024. His films like Ricky Stanicky and Jackpot! were nothing more than time-killers. However, he had a couple of interesting cameo appearances, notably in the third season of The Bear and the 36th season of The Simpsons. Hopefully, he is about to change that with his upcoming films.
We’re going to see Cena more in WWE instead of the movies this year, as he has announced his retirement from professional wrestling after 2025. However, fans will eventually get to see him in some action-packed and comedy films.

M. Night Shyamalan's new Jake Gyllenhaal movie is eying a major Bridgerton star to join the cast. After the success of Trap, Shyamalan's next movie is a collaboration with best-selling novelist Nicholas Sparks. Shyamalan and Sparks co-created the story, with reports in January noting that Shyamalan was writing the script and Sparks was writing a novel based on the same idea, with both tailored to their respective mediums. The untitled Shyamalan film, which Sparks is executive producing, is described as a supernatural romantic thriller, with Gyllenhaal starring.
Deadline now reports that Phoebe Dynevor is in negotiations to star opposite Gyllenhaal in the untitled Shyamalan film. Dynevor rocketed to fame in 2020 with the release of Bridgerton on Netflix, in which she played Daphne Bridgerton. One of HBO's biggest original series in the 2000s was "Entourage," created by Doug Ellin in 2004 and loosely based on the up-and-coming experiences of executive producer Mark Wahlberg. The comedy series followed Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), a breakout movie star whose close friends not-so-subtly rode the coattails of his success in Hollywood. After the show's eight-season run and feature film continuation, "Entourage" was remade for South Korean audiences in 2016 as a K-drama, or scripted Korean television show of any genre. Also titled "Entourage," the Korean version wasn't particularly successful with local audiences, but it remains an interesting watch, especially for fans of the HBO original series.
The Korean "Entourage" follows popular 20-something actor Cha Young-bin, who is accompanied by his three friends as he enjoys life in the spotlight. Young-bin is closely monitored by his agency's CEO Kim Eun-gab, who frequently clashes with Young-bin's childhood best friend and manager Lee Ho-jin.

The Studioco-creators, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, premiered their Apple TV+ series at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival on Mar. 7, where they also appeared onstage to discuss the project as part of a Q&a after the screening. The duo were joined by several members of the star-studded cast, having worked with an impressive roster of talent on the satirical comedy. Renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese wasn't in attendance despite having a cameo on the show, but Rogen did share some insight into what it was like to work with him.
According to Variety, Rogen revealed the rather surprising and certainly amusing note Scorsese gave him and Goldberg, and it's the last thing you would expect. The director, who is prone to profanity in his movies, told the pair that he feels their swearing is excessive. "You guys say f*** too much," he said, sharing his opinion with a slightly perplexed Rogen and Goldberg,...

Just when it seemed like Seth Rogen couldn't do better, early word of mouth about his upcoming AppleTV+ series The Studio makes it his best-reviewed project on Rotten Tomatoes. Rogen has been involved in some highly acclaimed film and television series projects as a writer, producer, and actor. Some of his best-reviewed include Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans (92%), the dramedy 50/50 (93%), superhero satire The Boys (93%), the animated reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (95%), and the hit Prime Video series Invincible (99%). While Invincible previously held the record for Seth Rogen's best-reviewed project on Rotten Tomatoes, The Studio has won the top prize.
The Studio, Rogen's satirical commentary on the modern Hollywood film industry, sits at a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 18 reviews as of the time of this writing. The reviews have been glowing, with Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter calling, saying The Studio "is a strong contender for...

Seth Rogen skewers Hollywood in a new comedy series coming to Apple TV+ this month. Ahead of the show's debut on March 26, the show has impressed critics right out of the gate with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
With its early reviews, The Studio has been given a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 100%. Potentially, the number could drop as more reviews come in, but debuting with a perfect score is a very promising star for the new show. According to critics, the series succeeds with its comedy, described by Collider's Ross Bonaime as "smart and informed," though it's also drawing praise for pulling off the show's unexpectedly darker moments as well.
"This show – unlike so much of what’s portrayed on it – is a true success, one with many more stories to tell that should absolutely become an enduring staple of this moment’s top-tier television," Awards Buzz...

Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos is following in a storied American showbiz tradition of top TV executives making cameos on shows set by predecessors like Brandon Tartikoff. Surprisingly, the series that marks his acting debut is not on Netflix but on rival Apple TV+.
Sarandos is popping up in Seth Rogen’s upcoming showbiz-themed comedy The Studio, in which the Neighbors star plays Matt Remick, the new head of a Hollywood movie studio. We won’t spoil Sarandos’ interaction with Remick beyond teasing that it involves a chance encounter at the Golden Globes.
“After 25 years in Hollywood, secretly what I was really hoping for was to be discovered for the silver screen,” Sarandos told Deadline. “Of course it was my friend Seth Rogen who saw my ‘certain something’ and cast me. He has also promised an FYC campaign for my guest appearance — so it was an offer that I could not refuse.

Apple TV+ has dropped a star-studded new trailer for its upcoming satirical comedy series The Studio, which sees Seth Rogen lift the lid on Hollywood's "meat grinder" surrounded by Tinseltown's top talent, including, but not limited to, Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Olivia Wilde, Adam Scott, and even Martin Scorsese. After all, "this is cinema," but perhaps not in the way we're used to seeing it, as the ten-episode series taps into the inner workings of the movie industry, promising lights, cameras, and plenty of action.
According to the show's official synopsis, Rogen plays Matt Remick, "the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios," who finds himself wrangling with "narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords" in the pursuit of making a good movie... that will be good forever (and we're hedging our bets that it's not going to be Duhpocalyspe). Full of exotic beasts, bearded ladies, strapping giant strong men and dare-devil acrobats, along with the likes of Zendaya, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zac Efron, the 20th Century film grossed $459 million worldwide after it hit theaters in 2017.
But, it’s fair to say, that audiences went giddy over the songs and the film’s embrace of its disparate characters who bonded as a family, rather than its storyline.
