And the Legion of Doom is responsible for situating him in this vastly different timeline.

The Vampire Diaries has had a lot of Elena Gilbert doppelgängers over the years, but it's been decided that a different approach would be taken this season.
A key role will be filled with an actress who could pass as Nina Dobrev, and we're kind of freaking out about it.
That actress is Alexandra Chando.
Chando is slated to appear on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 8 as a doctor named Tara, who will apparently become embroiled in Damon and Stefan's plans to get the darkest souls for Cade.
Yes, the Devil is in Mystic Falls, and he's got the two Salvatore brothers doing his bidding.
A lot of supernatural series introduce the Devil one point or another, but something about the way it's being executed on The Vampire Diaries is surprisingly fresh.
The episode will also be directed by none other than Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon.
It's kind of a big deal.

Twisted twins and doppelgangers. Some engage in incest, others just have horrible, even life-threatening relationships.
For some reason, the shows with twins played by the same actor or actress, in this case Alexandra Chando of The Lying Game, or Sarah Michelle Gellar of Ringer, don't seem to last very long.
But these relationships are always so juicy and dark because even compared to siblings, there's just a certain bond between twins that is undeniable and leads to much deeper rifts in their family fabric.
Seems like daytime soaps have an uncanny habit of revealing a shocking doppelganger.
Below, here are some of our favorite dark, deep, twisty, and puzzling twin relationships.
1. Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce - The Vampire Diaries Well, they weren't really twins, but doppelgangers are close enough, right? Dobrev did a marvelous job of separating these two, and an eventual third, Amara, but working as two different...

Fame is killer in the "Castle" episode, "Limelight." A young celebrity finds this out the hard way when her double is murdered -- all in the sake of keeping the attention of the press.
It's disturbing, awful and seems all too real.
Most child stars don't go so far as murder
The murder of the week in "Limelight" is of Claire Samuels, a young woman who works as a double for the super-famous Mandy Sutton (played beautifully by Alexandra Chando). When Claire is found dead in Mandy's apartment, everyone assumes it's the starlet. That all changes when her mother comes to identify the body.
Mandy is alive, but she's far from well. Recently sober, the former child star had just fallen off the wagon following a hook-up with a no-good ex. This brought on lots of drinking and a break-up with her super nice, idealistic new boyfriend. Still, murder seems extreme.

"Castle" does like working pop culture into its episodes. Thus, it's not a surprise that the mystery drama would bring in its own over-sexy, twerking-inclined wild child heading for a breakdown. Alexandra Chando of "The Lying Game" will bring the crazy and sexy to an upcoming episode.
According to a report from TVLine, Chando will appear in episode 11 of the current Season 6. She will be "a Lindsay Lohan/Miley Cyrus type who had a big public meltdown. She's somebody who has turned from America's sweetheart into the kind of person who might twerk on MTV."
There is no word yet on whether or not the character will actually twerk.
Chando is best known for "The Lying Game," on which she played identical twins separated at birth and brought together for the purposes of deception. She also acted in "As the World Turns" as Maddie Coleman.
