We're hoping and expecting a new look at Superman to be released soon. CinemaCon is right around the corner, and we're overdue for an update on the movie that promises to usher in a new era of Dcu storytelling from DC Studios.
Crumbs from supposed Superman test screenings continue to find their way online; somewhat unsurprising, the movie is either being hailed as a win or yet another DC disaster, with little context or meaningful insights into what to expect.
The moderators of r/DCULeaks have shared some intel today, though, and while this information isn't verified - meaning you're best taking it with a pinch of salt - it's believable enough to be real.
Here's the full test screening report:
"The film wasn't a comedy, but did have funny moments in it."
"Characters aren't who people think they are."
"Online speculation is dead wrong."
"Most of the trailer scenes...

Much has been said about Superman's internal test screenings in recent weeks. Positives and negatives have been shared by those who claim to have seen it, though the consensus is largely good and points to this being a strong start for the Dcu in theaters.
That's not overly surprising given James Gunn's track record in the comic book movie realm, though the filmmaker's approach isn't to everyone's liking and that's called his suitability for a Clark Kent story into question.
Will Superman be more Guardians of the Galaxy than The Suicide Squad or entirely its own thing? That remains to be seen. Talking during The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider shared another brief update about what he's been hearing.
"I got a recent test screening report from somebody who saw it and, yeah, they liked it," he explained. "They thought David delivered as the Man of Steel. They thought...

DC Studios released the first Superman trailer last December and the sneak peek quickly broke viewership records.
With the reboot's July release date nearing, we anticipate seeing much more from the first Dcu movie in the weeks ahead. New trailers and posters are somewhere on the horizon and it surely won't be too long before Superman adorns the cover of Empire Magazine.
There's a lot of buzz on social media this morning as the DC Japan X account just shared the movie's logo along with the word "Tomorrow." When the post was published, it was around 7pm on Thursday evening in Japan, meaning something could be heading our way as soon as this Friday, March 21.
If so, we'd imagine the official U.S./global social accounts will soon chime in with their own teases. Alternatively, this might be as simple as Superman news somehow tied to Japan - an upcoming event or release date update,...

Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.
Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.
Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.
"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

At the end of 2022, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn was named co-ceo of DC Studios alongside veteran producer Peter Safran.
Gunn is believed to be focusing primarily on the creative side of the Dcu and, provided nothing goes disastrously wrong, is expected to remain in his first executive role for anywhere up to a decade. The filmmaker has already worked on Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2 and is currently in post-production on Superman.
According to a new report from Puck, Gunn is one of many industry figures who have hybrid deals covering their creative and executive duties. In Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's case, for example, he's likely paid separately for his President and executive producer positions.
Gunn, meanwhile, looks set to score as many as three paydays for his work on Superman.

Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy's stint as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chiefs has been a disaster. Outside of the odd hit like Barbie, the studio continues to release movies that regularly underperform, with Mickey 17 the latest example.
Joker: Folie à Deux was another colossal mistake. With Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav looking to cut costs and make movies on the cheap, Luca and Abdy allowed Todd Phillips to essentially rip them off for $200 million so he could shoot a lavish sequel meant to satisfy his and Joaquin Phoenix's desire for a musical.
According to a new report from Puck, Zaslav - an unpopular figure in Hollywood after he scrapped movies like Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme mid-production - is considering replacing Luca and Abdy.
One top contender is DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran, meaning James Gunn would be left as the sole head of that studio.

Superman will officially kickstart the rebooted DC Universe on the big screen and director James Gunn has chosen some unconventional characters to grace the screen of the franchise's first tentpole release. Alongside David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, the film will also feature lesser-known (in the eyes of non-comic book readers) heroes and villains like Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, Maxwell Lord, Metamorpho, and The Engineer. The latter is one of the movie's most niche characters, even within the comic book fandom. But, James Gunn is putting the spotlight on the underappreciated anti-hero in his latest social media promo for Superman.
Taking to X, James Gunn celebrated the anniversary of the creation of The Engineer by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from Superman's production. We got a first glimpse of María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer via set photos when Superman was filming last summer, but director James Gunn has now shared a first official look at the character via a new behind-the-scenes photo.
In the comics, Angela Spica is a heroic member of the super-group known as The Authority, and has a number of powers, including the ability to shape-shift. We're not sure if this first live-action take on the character will have a similar power-set, but we do know that she will be an antagonist to David Corenswet's Man of Steel.
"Happy Anniversary to the Engineer," Gunn captioned his post. "Created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, who you can see played to sinister perfection by puppy in human form @thefaria in #Superman this July!

Superman director James Gunn took to social media to share a new behind-the-scenes photo of María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class) as The Engineer. You can check out the new photo below!
In the caption, Gunn wrote: “Happy Anniversary to the Engineer, created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, who you can see played to sinister perfection by puppy in human form Gaby de Faria in #Superman this July!“
The behind-the-scenes photo isn’t particularly revealing, but it does give us another look at the Engineer’s costume. The location is the same one we saw in the teaser trailer, in which Superman is battling a different black-suited character. Speaking of that teaser, it became the most viewed and talked about trailer in the history of DC of Warner Bros. when it was viewed over 250 million times in the first 24 hours after its release.

As reactions (good and bad) from supposed test screenings continue to dominate the conversation online, Superman director James Gunn has just shared a new look at the Dcu's Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi).
It doesn't tell us a great deal about what to expect from these characters. However, it appears to be the same scene from the trailer where Terrific was shown protecting Lois from a squad of what looked to be Lex Luthor's green and purple-clad soldiers.
Last December, Gunn said Mr. Terrific is the "main character of those [superhero supporting] characters" and added, "I think it was just who I wanted to really, honestly. I love Mr. Terrific. These characters all get their moment in the sun. They all have their moments. They're not just cameos, these are the characters."

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics file for dismissal of a pending lawsuit regarding Supermanin film.
Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics filed a motion to dismiss on Wednesday, March 5, in the hopes of dismissing the pending lawsuit brought about by Mark Peary, nephew of the late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. Peary's suit was filed in January, and seeks to invalidate Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios' Superman copyrights in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Ireland. The motion to dismiss alleges that Peary's mother, Jean Peavy, signed away the rights to Superman in 1992, shortly after Shuster's passing that same year.
Studio attorney Daniel Petrocelli said of the case, "Peary's complaint fails on every ground." Petrocelli elaborated, "There are no carve-outs in the controlling 1992 agreement for any foreign copyrights, much less for the copyrights in the 10 countries Peary now alleges in the Complaint." While Peary's estate lawyer,...

In January, Warner Bros. found itself at the center of a lawsuit that could potentially block James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie from being released in foreign territories. Mark Peary, nephew of late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, filed the lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery, DC Studios, and DC Comics, arguing they don’t have the rights to release Superman in many key territories outside the U.S.
As you might expect, Warner Bros. is fighting back. The studio has now filed a motion to dismiss, claiming that courts have already rejected Peary’s claims after his mother, Jean Peavy, signed away all rights after Schuster’s death in 1992. “Peary’s complaint fails on every ground,” said Warner Bros.’ attorney Daniel Petrocelli.

A lot hinges on Superman being a hit this summer. If the movie fails, then it won't be good for DC Studios and could bring a swift end to the Dcu - beyond the projects already being shot - before it even gets started.
It's doubtful that Superman will bomb but certainly not impossible. Superhero fatigue does appear to have set in among moviegoers and the DC brand has been badly damaged by Dceu projects like Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.
During a recent interview with Esquire España (translated by Cbr), Superman lead star David Corenswet was asked about his Dcu future and largely shrugged off the question.
"I don't think it's up to me to answer that," he told the site. "It's up to James Gunn, who has a terrific imagination, and he is just there where they need [him] to be to say what was written,...

As is so often the case, we've now heard good and bad things from Superman's early internal test screenings. It's always best to take chatter like that with a pinch of salt, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised that the reboot is drawing mixed reviews.
While filmmaker James Gunn has a great track record, the Man of Steel isn't a character it's easy to make relevant in today's world. The hero is viewed as overpowered and old-fashioned by some, meaning even the best Superman movie is unlikely to strike a chord with them.

This week, DC Studios shared a slew of updates and minor announcements about the Dcu's future. However, any positives have largely been overshadowed by the fact everything from The Authority to Booster Gold and Waller have run into problems.
On the one hand, it's hard to fault co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran for their transparency. On the other, many fans feel they've inadvertently painted a picture of two creatives who might be in over their heads.
Superman will be the big test for DC Studios and, yesterday evening, the news broke - via The Wrap - that marketing veteran Ricky Strauss has been tapped to consult for DC Studios on the movie (he previously led Apple TV+'s marketing campaigns).

Last December, it was reported that internal test screenings of Superman had taken place at Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios. At the time, we heard "[the] buzz is not good" and that there were concerns about how the reboot was taking shape.
That's supposedly why reshoots took place at the end of 2024, though James Gunn has said those are "pickup shots" consisting of, "No scenes. No reshoots." Superman's tone has also been compared to Captain America: The First Avenger and The Mummy.
Now, we have another update from Jeff Sneider. Apparently, the most recent cut of Superman received great feedback and performed far better than those initial early screenings.
The whole reason those take place is to figure out what isn't working early on and, with Gunn clearly taking the negative feedback on board, it appears the first Dcu movie has benefited greatly. That bodes well for what we'll see in theaters this summer.

It has been over two years since James Gunn announced his plans for Chapter 1 of the Dcu, Gods & Monsters. Audiences finally got to see those plans kick off with the debut of Creature Commandos, and the franchise is moving along nicely as Superman is set to open in theaters in July 2025, followed by previously announced projects like Peacemaker Season 2, Lanterns, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Meanwhile, Clayface, Sgt.Rock and Dynamic Duo were announced after and have since been added to the slate of releases, showing a diverse line-up of projects and genres for the Dcu. However, some titles announced in January 2023 have made no progress, one in particular feeling like a glaring omission: The Authority.

James Gunn is known for directing ensemble pieces in the realm of comic book movies, having helmed the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy and 2021's "The Suicide Squad." So, given that he's taking on this summer's "Superman" for Warner Bros., it's reasonable to wonder if Gunn is going to take a similar approach to the Man of Steel. Whether you were hoping for a hero-filled story or worried the focus was going to be pulled away from Supes, however, Gunn has made it clear: his latest is not a team adventure.
/Film's Bill Bria recently attended a special press event featuring Gunn and Peter Safran, who're serving as the co-heads of DC Studios at Warner Bros. That also means they've been tasked with launching the new DC Universe, a franchise that technically began with the release of the animated "Creature Commandos" series on Max but will kick off in earnest with "Superman" in July.

Superman is the movie that officially kicks off the Dcu after last year's Creature Commandos gave us a taste of what's to come on Max. While the likes of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns are already in production, make no mistake about it: DC Studios' future hinges on Superman's success.
Still, the response to the first trailer was overwhelmingly positive and all signs point to filmmaker James Gunn delivering the uplifting, hopeful take on the Man of Steel fans have been desperate to see in theaters again.
Gunn, who also runs DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, is no stranger to comic book movies. While the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy had a lot of heart, it was largely comedic, as were the likes of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

2025 marks 85 years since Lex Luthor first appeared in the pages of 1940's Action Comics #23. To mark the occasion, Superman director James Gunn has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo of Nicholas Hoult as the Dcu's version of the iconic villain.
The British actor and Nosferatu star looks suitably menacing as Lex but it remains to be seen how the upcoming reboot will go about putting a new spin on a villain we've seen in a lot of movies featuring the Man of Tomorrow.
Gunn has previously said this Lex will be more in line with the Golden Age's mad scientist, with the prevailing theory being that he experiments on metahumans (including Metamorpho). If so, Lex is likely the creator of Ultraman, Gunn's rumoured take on Bizarro who, in the Dcu, will be Superman's clone.

If so, Lex is likely the creator of Ultraman, Gunn's rumoured take on Bizarro who, in the Dcu, will be Superman's clone.
We'll see, but Lex won't be the only villain in Superman. As well as Ultraman, it appears...

John Stewart is coming to the DC Universe. Aaron Pierre, who will play the fan-favorite Green Lantern, recently opened up about how he is approaching playing this character in Lanterns.
Speaking with The Buzz (via X) at the 2025 ABFF Honors, Pierre revealed that he is "locked in and focused" on Lanterns, which began filming earlier this month in Los Angeles. The actor described the project as "very beautiful" and "very dear to [his] heart." Pierre, who was cast in the role in October 2024, teased his approach to "the beautiful character of John Stewart, who I love very dearly," stating that he is "going to do all in my power to bring him to life in a way that resonates with the people and celebrates that character."

Within the continuously changing film and television landscape, comic book movies have a significant share of contemporary must-see theatrical events. Even though many factors have led to an overall declining box office, superhero movies are relentlessly fighting to leave their cinematic mark and many of our favorite heroes have had a positive impact at movie theaters in recent years.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is evolving their strategy while moving forward to develop content for many years to come. Sony Marvel movies have also been supplementing the genre with sporadic releases in recent years, however limited financial success may prevent Sony from continuing with their separate Marvel universe. On the contrary, DC is restarting their Justice League-based franchise, with big promises from studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
We are here to help you keep track of superhero movie mania. What is the next big release?...

Much has been said about how Superman will tackle what it means to be a modern journalist. Lois Lane actor Rachel Brosnahan has already addressed how the intrepid Daily Planet reporter will handle fake news, but will we see her in more than just the newsroom?
Lois being an on-air reporter or even someone who uses social media to communicate with the citizens of Metropolis does make sense in today's world. However, it sounds like James Gunn is taking a classic approach to the print journalist.
"I spoke to a handful of really brilliant journalists to help me kind of get inside the mindset of folks who have both worked in a newsroom and on broadcast, which Lois obviously doesn't but...still helpful," Brosnahan confirms in the video below. "They were fantastic [and] very generous with their time."

Someone needs to get Nathan Fillion a catwalk because there’s no chance a football field is long enough for the strut he’s rockin’ while showing off the best look yet at his Green Lantern character for James Gunn’s Superman movie. Despite not showing much in the way of advertising for DC Studios’s Superman, Fillion’s Guy Gardner managed to infiltrate the big game to mug for audiences. Few actors portray smugness like Nathan Fillion, precisely the type of energy Guy Gardner puts out in DC’s Green Lantern series.
During the brief advert, we find Fillion’s Guy Gardner running his fingers along the fringe of his platinum blond bowl cut while smarmily making love to cameras with his twinkling eyes. The promo reveals the words, “The only bowl I need,” before Fillion thrusts his pelvis in a way that could make David Bowie’s Jareth...

Disappointingly, DC Studios decided to sit out yesterday's Super Bowl. It feels like a missed trick after the overwhelmingly positive response to last December's Superman trailer, though we did get some new Krypto merchandise and a hilariously bizarre promo featuring Guy Gardner.
A new look at the movie's lead has found its way online today, though, with the packaging providing an awesome never-before-seen shot of David Corenswet's Man of Tomorrow in flight.
That will clearly be the image posted across various toys and merchandise for Superman, and it's pretty darn awesome seeing the Dcu's version of this iconic character striking such an iconic pose.
As for the toy itself, it should go without saying that the movie's Krypto won't have a propellor coming out of his back! This is just for kids - Funko Pops and Hot Toys will likely drop later this summer - and a means of...

The Puppy Bowl has been and gone and, unfortunately, the only Superman sneak peek shown during the event was the same trailer released by DC Studios last December.
That means the widely touted new look at the Dcu movie boiled down to that, some merchandise featuring Krypto, and a promo clip featuring Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. In that, the Green Lantern Corps member flashes a cocky smile after it's made clear the only "bowl" he needs is his iconic bowl cut.
While many DC fans are disappointed with the lack of new content for Superman, we weren't ever promised a trailer and there's still a slim chance something could be released during the Super Bowl. We wouldn't bank it on, though.
"Guy Gardner is 90% flawed and doesn’t care. That’s one of his flaws," Fillion previously said of the character. "I think there’s a real freedom in playing that.

Superman returns this year in writer and director James Gunn’s Dcu reboot. Moving from the MCU to the world of DC, Gunn takes the reins of this new comic book movie franchise, and while the iconic superhero did not make an appearance at this year’s Super Bowl, the movie took full advantage of an event that’s just as important: the Puppy Bowl.
Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman stars David Corenswet in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (For All Mankind), Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus), Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio (At Midnight), María Gabriela de Faría (The Moodys), Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box) and Neva Howell (Greedy People).

David Corenswet may be the new Clark Kent/Superman, but Krypto took the spotlight during Sunday’s Puppy Bowl, where his real-life inspiration helped show off a new look at Superman.
Superman director James Gunn made a special appearance alongside his dog, Ozu, during the Animal Planet Super Bowl show, reminding fans that his special pup helped inspire Superman’s best dog friend, Krypto, in this summer’s Superman movie.
“Krypto has all the powers of Superman and is as lovable and mischievous as many of the irresistible pups you’ll see today in this Puppy Bowl,” Gunn said with Ozu by his side. “We’re going to meet over 120 rescue pups who started off in shelters and are now flying to stardom as they tussle, triumph and get distracted over the course of the day.”

Merchandise featuring the Dcu's Superdog has swooped onto social media along with a graphic of Krypto taking flight. The latter is part of Warner Bros.' efforts to promote James Gunn's upcoming reboot during this popular precursor to the Super Bowl.
The DC Studios boss has also taken centre stage alongside his pet pooch, Ozu, the inspiration for Superman's interpretation of Krypto. The DC Universe is unique in the sense that characters boast multiple origins and have been reimagined and reinterpreted on countless occasions. Old origin stories get mixed with new ones, and depending on the era, well-known heroes and villains can end up being downright unrecognisable.
While it ends up being a little confusing for casual comic book fans, it gives filmmakers like James Gunn plenty of places to draw inspiration from.
In Superman, he looks set to put a new spin on the Justice League International team. Hawkgirl will be among their ranks, but is Isabella Merced playing Shiera Sanders Hall, Shayera Hol, or Kendra Saunders? The latter seems most likely but the plot has thickened with new comments from Gunn on social media.
After he confirmed that the Dcu's Hawkgirl will have organic wings, fans are now wondering exactly which version of the hero we'll see in Superman later this summer.

We're hopefully just hours away from a new look at Superman being shared during Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl. In the meantime, the Dcu's Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan, has reflected on the experience of seeing David Corenswet suit up as the Man of Steel for the first time.
Speaking on the Producers Guild Awards red carpet (you can see more photos of the actor's jaw-dropping red carpet look below), Brosnahan started by revealing that, "It sort of happened twice."
"When we tested for the parts together, I was doing a play, so I had to get out very quickly. I was leaving and I knocked on the door, and he was standing there in a Superman suit, testing," she continued. "I was just like, 'Superman is in the building.' It was wild. It was one of those electric moments that feel really rare. In that moment, I knew it would be David.

Rachel Brosnahan was on the red carpet for last night's Critic's Choice Awards and, as you might expect, everyone wanted to talk to the actor about Superman.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brosnahan confirmed she hasn't spoken to those who played Lois Lane before her. Instead, she wanted to focus on creating a believable, modern version of the intrepid Daily Planet reporter.
"I felt like I was focused on the journalism piece," she explained. "I spoke to a handful of journalists who really helped me get inside the head of a modern reporter."
"I feel like one of the interesting things about this character is that she’s changed so much from her inception to kind of reflect what it would look like to be a modern, relentless, kind of intense, slightly messy reporter of that time," Brosnahan added. "So I feel like I really relied on the...

With Rachel Brosnahan joining James Gunn’s new cinematic Dcu, she’s optimistic for some truth, justice and the American way.
The 2x Critics Choice Television Awards winner teased Deadline at Friday’s 30th annual awards show of what’s to come in Gunn’s upcoming take on Superman, and how it “really encapsulates” what the Man of Steel stands for.
“We’re living in a moment of so much turmoil, both here, abroad,” she noted. “There’s a lot of challenges for everybody in all different pockets of the worlds right now. And for a lot of the complaints that people have sometimes about superhero movies, at their core, they’re about the goodness of people and how good we can be to each other, how the pursuit of truth and justice really are the American way, and that courage and hope can carry us through.

A new look at Superman is expected to be released during this Sunday's "Puppy Bowl." Unfortunately, with Warner Bros. skipping the Big Game, we're not expecting anything more than a TV spot revolving around Krypto the Superdog.
There's always a chance we'll be surprised, of course, but thanks to DC Comics artist Dan Mora, we have a fantastic piece of artwork to share with you today featuring David Corenswet's Superman.
Paying homage to the iconic Action Comics #1 cover by Joe Shuster, it sounds like this will be available as a variant cover for a facsimile reprint of Superman's 1938 debut (and released as part of the "Superman Day" celebrations on April 18).
It would probably be a little too on the nose for filmmaker James Gunn to recreate this in Superman but this makes for a striking piece of imagery, nonetheless.
"I really loved working with David Corenswet," Gunn said last year.

While we await the triumphant return of Superman later this year, and thus the beginning of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted Dcu, the franchise is still taking shape. Fans are awaiting news of more characters and who will play them (one of the biggest being Batman), and now, a star of the hit Netflix series The Gentlemen has thrown his (feathered) hat in the ring to star as one of the most beloved street-level superheroes: Green Arrow.
Taking to social media, The Gentlemen star Harry Goodwins is now campaigning to play Oliver Queen, Aka Green Arrow in the Dcu, with his post even suggesting that he may have already had meetings with Gunn about the role. "2025 I have big motions...It's happening,” he said atop an image of the hero wielding his trusted bow and arrow from the pages of DC Comics.

The estate of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster is suing Warner Bros. Discovery ahead of the July release of the new James Gunn film, alleging the company does not have the rights to release it in several countries.
The filed suit claims Wbd lost the international rights to the hero years ago but continued to profit off him. The lawsuit is seeking “damages and injunctive relief for Defendants’ ongoing infringement in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, as well as declaratory relief establishing the Shuster Estate’s ownership rights across relevant jurisdictions.”
The suit continues, “Shuster died in 1992 and Siegel in 1996. By operation of law, Shuster’s foreign copyrights automatically reverted to his estate in 2017 in most of these territories (and in 2021 in Canada). The estate of Superman creator Joseph Schuster is suing Warner Bros. Discovery and its DC Comics, claiming it lacks the rights to release the upcoming summer tentpole in a handful of key territories.
Plaintiff Mark Warren Peary, executor to the estate, filed the suit today in Federal Court in the Southern District of New York seeking “damages and injunctive relief for Defendants’ ongoing infringement in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, as well as declaratory relief establishing the Shuster Estate’s ownership rights across relevant jurisdictions.
The matter is ripe for adjudication, it said, “as Defendants are actively planning a major new Superman motion picture and other derivative works for imminent worldwide release.”
The latest Superman starring David Corenswet in the title role, is fact, set for release on July 11. The cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.

James Gunn’s Superman reboot is all set to take flight this year...but some fans just cannot let go of the past. While those still attached to the wildly divisive SnyderVerse have had this year’s Superman in their crosshairs since it was announced, others simply wish that Henry Cavill had been given another chance at playing the Man of Steel. And it seems that Cavill fans have taken to X/Twitter to air their grievances as #HenryCavillSuperman is now trending in the wake of the latest, and sadly somewhat maligned, footage of David Corenswet’s Superman.

Over the weekend, DC Studios released a new 30-second TV spot for Superman. Much has been said about a "goofy" shot of David Corenswet's Man of Steel in flight, but the preview featured another far more exciting talking point.
When Lex Luthor and Ultraman land in a snowy location we have to believe is near the Fortress of Solitude, it's in a helicopter or plane that looks very comic book-inspired.
However, upon closer inspection, we can see that it's green and purple! While this isn't overly easy to pick out at first glance, we've played around with the contrast and can confirm Lex is using this all-too-familiar colour scheme for his ship.
Remember, the first trailer showed several armed guards wearing uniforms which, as well as being green and purple, looked heavily inspired by the villain's Warsuit from Superman For All Seasons, a series we know Superman has taken some cues from.

A new 30-second TV spot for James Gunn’s Superman was released yesterday, showing off some fresh footage from the highly anticipated movie. However, the final shot of the teaser has come under fire. In it, Superman does a barrel roll as he avoids some rocks, with the camera focusing on the character’s face as he flies towards us. Some feel that it looks a little “goofy” and have blamed the lack of facial movement on poor VFX, but Gunn has defended the shot on Threads.
“There is absolutely zero CG in his face,” Gunn said. “People’s faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real, as is David.“
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with the shot from the Superman TV spot. A little more expression may have done the trick, but we also don...

Superman will likely be the movie that puts actor David Corenswet on the map, turning him into an A-List star in the process. His profile has already skyrocketed since being cast as the Dcu's Man of Steel and he's now the face of Boss The Scent.
The Twisters actor has been joined by Ambulance star Eiza González for the campaign, a fun coincidence seeing as many fans would love to see her play the Dcu's Wonder Woman.
They look pretty great together, and it surely won't surprise you to see that it took almost no time at all for someone to transform them into Kal-El and Diana Prince. It works wonderfully (pun intended) and may well be a glimpse at what's to come when James Gunn finally casts the new Wonder Woman.

"We did a little bit of rehearsal on the first day to get some basic steps that we wanted to have,...

James Gunn is making this Sunday afternoon super by unveiling a new teaser for his Superman movie. The latest promo builds atop the previous teaser with additional footage, including new looks at Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), the Fortress of Solitude, and a sequence featuring Supes in flight. While the latest Superman teaser doesn’t reveal much of anything new, it builds upon the movie’s mystique instead of showing too much too soon.
James Gunn’s Superman looks promising. In this brief glimpse of the film, we see the Last Son of Krypton going to great lengths for the city of Metropolis. The shot of Supes shielding a young girl from a nearby explosion still gives me goosebumps, and watching the icy exterior of what I assume is the Fortress of Solitude reach toward the sky is exhilarating. The teaser also includes footage of Superman in flight, bobbing, weaving, and...

Superman writer and director James Gunn has taken to Instagram to share a new, albeit familiar, look at the Dcu's Krypto. While this image will likely be familiar to those of you who watched the first trailer on repeat, the filmmaker has dropped a great hi-res shot of the adorable alien pooch.
The DC Studios co-ceo paired that with a piece of comic book artwork showing Superman flying through the skies of Metropolis alongside Krypto.
Gunn has previously described the Man of Tomorrow's relationship with Krypto as "complicated" and further elaborated on that point by saying, "You'll see in the movie that Krypto probably comes off as a better dog in the trailer than he is in the movie. Pretty terrible dog! You love him because he's a dog and how can you not? And he's got the cute, innocent eyes, but he's a terrible dog."
While not confirmed, we...
