We're hoping and expecting a new look at Superman to be released soon. CinemaCon is right around the corner, and we're overdue for an update on the movie that promises to usher in a new era of Dcu storytelling from DC Studios.

Crumbs from supposed Superman test screenings continue to find their way online; somewhat unsurprising, the movie is either being hailed as a win or yet another DC disaster, with little context or meaningful insights into what to expect.

The moderators of r/DCULeaks have shared some intel today, though, and while this information isn't verified - meaning you're best taking it with a pinch of salt - it's believable enough to be real.

Much has been said about Superman's internal test screenings in recent weeks. Positives and negatives have been shared by those who claim to have seen it, though the consensus is largely good and points to this being a strong start for the Dcu in theaters.

That's not overly surprising given James Gunn's track record in the comic book movie realm, though the filmmaker's approach isn't to everyone's liking and that's called his suitability for a Clark Kent story into question.

Will Superman be more Guardians of the Galaxy than The Suicide Squad or entirely its own thing? That remains to be seen. Talking during The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider shared another brief update about what he's been hearing.

With the reboot's July release date nearing, we anticipate seeing much more from the first Dcu movie in the weeks ahead. New trailers and posters are somewhere on the horizon and it surely won't be too long before Superman adorns the cover of Empire Magazine.

There's a lot of buzz on social media this morning as the DC Japan X account just shared the movie's logo along with the word "Tomorrow." When the post was published, it was around 7pm on Thursday evening in Japan, meaning something could be heading our way as soon as this Friday, March 21.

If so, we'd imagine the official U.S./global social accounts will soon chime in with their own teases. Alternatively, this might be as simple as Superman news somehow tied to Japan - an upcoming event or release date update,...

Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.

Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.

Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.

"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

At the end of 2022, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn was named co-ceo of DC Studios alongside veteran producer Peter Safran.

Gunn is believed to be focusing primarily on the creative side of the Dcu and, provided nothing goes disastrously wrong, is expected to remain in his first executive role for anywhere up to a decade. The filmmaker has already worked on Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2 and is currently in post-production on Superman.

According to a new report from Puck, Gunn is one of many industry figures who have hybrid deals covering their creative and executive duties. In Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's case, for example, he's likely paid separately for his President and executive producer positions.

Gunn, meanwhile, looks set to score as many as three paydays for his work on Superman.

Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy's stint as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chiefs has been a disaster. Outside of the odd hit like Barbie, the studio continues to release movies that regularly underperform, with Mickey 17 the latest example.

Joker: Folie à Deux was another colossal mistake. With Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav looking to cut costs and make movies on the cheap, Luca and Abdy allowed Todd Phillips to essentially rip them off for $200 million so he could shoot a lavish sequel meant to satisfy his and Joaquin Phoenix's desire for a musical.

According to a new report from Puck, Zaslav - an unpopular figure in Hollywood after he scrapped movies like Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme mid-production - is considering replacing Luca and Abdy.

One top contender is DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran, meaning James Gunn would be left as the sole head of that studio.

We got a first glimpse of María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer via set photos when Superman was filming last summer, but director James Gunn has now shared a first official look at the character via a new behind-the-scenes photo.

In the comics, Angela Spica is a heroic member of the super-group known as The Authority, and has a number of powers, including the ability to shape-shift. We're not sure if this first live-action take on the character will have a similar power-set, but we do know that she will be an antagonist to David Corenswet's Man of Steel.

The behind-the-scenes photo isn’t particularly revealing, but it does give us another look at the Engineer’s costume. The location is the same one we saw in the teaser trailer, in which Superman is battling a different black-suited character. Speaking of that teaser, it became the most viewed and talked about trailer in the history of DC of Warner Bros. when it was viewed over 250 million times in the first 24 hours after its release.

As reactions (good and bad) from supposed test screenings continue to dominate the conversation online, Superman director James Gunn has just shared a new look at the Dcu's Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi).

It doesn't tell us a great deal about what to expect from these characters. However, it appears to be the same scene from the trailer where Terrific was shown protecting Lois from a squad of what looked to be Lex Luthor's green and purple-clad soldiers.

Last December, Gunn said Mr. Terrific is the "main character of those [superhero supporting] characters" and added, "I think it was just who I wanted to really, honestly. I love Mr. Terrific. Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics file for dismissal of a pending lawsuit regarding Supermanin film.

Per Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics filed a motion to dismiss on Wednesday, March 5, in the hopes of dismissing the pending lawsuit brought about by Mark Peary, nephew of the late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. Peary's suit was filed in January, and seeks to invalidate Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios' Superman copyrights in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Ireland. The motion to dismiss alleges that Peary's mother, Jean Peavy, signed away the rights to Superman in 1992, shortly after Shuster's passing that same year.

Studio attorney Daniel Petrocelli said of the case, "Peary's complaint fails on every ground." Petrocelli elaborated, "There are no carve-outs in the controlling 1992 agreement for any foreign copyrights, much less for the copyrights in the 10 countries Peary now alleges in the Complaint." In January, Warner Bros. found itself at the center of a lawsuit that could potentially block James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie from being released in foreign territories. Mark Peary, nephew of late Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, filed the lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery, DC Studios, and DC Comics, arguing they don’t have the rights to release Superman in many key territories outside the U.S.

As you might expect, Warner Bros. is fighting back. A lot hinges on Superman being a hit this summer. If the movie fails, then it won't be good for DC Studios and could bring a swift end to the Dcu - beyond the projects already being shot - before it even gets started.

It's doubtful that Superman will bomb but certainly not impossible. Superhero fatigue does appear to have set in among moviegoers and the DC brand has been badly damaged by Dceu projects like Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.

During a recent interview with Esquire España (translated by Cbr), Superman lead star David Corenswet was asked about his Dcu future and largely shrugged off the question.

"I don't think it's up to me to answer that," he told the site. "It's up to James Gunn, who has a terrific imagination, and he is just there where they need [him] to be to say what was written,...

As is so often the case, we've now heard good and bad things from Superman's early internal test screenings. It's always best to take chatter like that with a pinch of salt, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised that the reboot is drawing mixed reviews.

While filmmaker James Gunn has a great track record, the Man of Steel isn't a character it's easy to make relevant in today's world. The hero is viewed as overpowered and old-fashioned by some, meaning even the best Superman movie is unlikely to strike a chord with them.

Last December, it was reported that internal test screenings of Superman had taken place at Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios. At the time, we heard "[the] buzz is not good" and that there were concerns about how the reboot was taking shape.

That's supposedly why reshoots took place at the end of 2024, though James Gunn has said those are "pickup shots" consisting of, "No scenes. No reshoots." Superman's tone has also been compared to Captain America: The First Avenger and The Mummy.

Now, we have another update from Jeff Sneider. Apparently, the most recent cut of Superman received great feedback and performed far better than those initial early screenings.

The whole reason those take place is to figure out what isn't working early on and, with Gunn clearly taking the negative feedback on board, it appears the first Dcu movie has benefited greatly. That bodes well for what we'll see in theaters this summer.

It has been over two years since James Gunn announced his plans for Chapter 1 of the Dcu, Gods & Monsters. 2025 marks 85 years since Lex Luthor first appeared in the pages of 1940's Action Comics #23. To mark the occasion, Superman director James Gunn has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo of Nicholas Hoult as the Dcu's version of the iconic villain.

The British actor and Nosferatu star looks suitably menacing as Lex but it remains to be seen how the upcoming reboot will go about putting a new spin on a villain we've seen in a lot of movies featuring the Man of Tomorrow.

John Stewart is coming to the DC Universe. Aaron Pierre, who will play the fan-favorite Green Lantern, recently opened up about how he is approaching playing this character in Lanterns.

Speaking with The Buzz (via X) at the 2025 ABFF Honors, Pierre revealed that he is "locked in and focused" on Lanterns, which began filming earlier this month in Los Angeles. The actor described the project as "very beautiful" and "very dear to [his] heart." A new look at the movie's lead has found its way online today, though, with the packaging providing an awesome never-before-seen shot of David Corenswet's Man of Tomorrow in flight.

The Puppy Bowl has been and gone and, unfortunately, the only Superman sneak peek shown during the event was the same trailer released by DC Studios last December.

That means the widely touted new look at the Dcu movie boiled down to that, some merchandise featuring Krypto, and a promo clip featuring Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. In that, the Green Lantern Corps member flashes a cocky smile after it's made clear the only "bowl" he needs is his iconic bowl cut.

While many DC fans are disappointed with the lack of new content for Superman, we weren't ever promised a trailer and there's still a slim chance something could be released during the Super Bowl. We wouldn't bank it on, though.

The DC Universe is unique in the sense that characters boast multiple origins and have been reimagined and reinterpreted on countless occasions. Old origin stories get mixed with new ones, and depending on the era, well-known heroes and villains can end up being downright unrecognisable.

We're hopefully just hours away from a new look at Superman being shared during Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl. In the meantime, the Dcu's Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan, has reflected on the experience of seeing David Corenswet suit up as the Man of Steel for the first time.

Speaking on the Producers Guild Awards red carpet (you can see more photos of the actor's jaw-dropping red carpet look below), Brosnahan started by revealing that, "It sort of happened twice."

"When we tested for the parts together, I was doing a play, so I had to get out very quickly. I was leaving and I knocked on the door, and he was standing there in a Superman suit, testing," she continued. "I was just like, 'Superman is in the building.' It was wild. It was one of those electric moments that feel really rare. In that moment, I knew it would be David.

A new look at Superman is expected to be released during this Sunday's "Puppy Bowl." Unfortunately, with Warner Bros. skipping the Big Game, we're not expecting anything more than a TV spot revolving around Krypto the Superdog.

There's always a chance we'll be surprised, of course, but thanks to DC Comics artist Dan Mora, we have a fantastic piece of artwork to share with you today featuring David Corenswet's Superman.

Paying homage to the iconic Action Comics #1 cover by Joe Shuster, it sounds like this will be available as a variant cover for a facsimile reprint of Superman's 1938 debut (and released as part of the "Superman Day" celebrations on April 18).

It would probably be a little too on the nose for filmmaker James Gunn to recreate this in Superman but this makes for a striking piece of imagery, nonetheless.

The estate of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster is suing Warner Bros. Discovery ahead of the July release of the new James Gunn film, alleging the company does not have the rights to release it in several countries.

The filed suit claims Wbd lost the international rights to the hero years ago but continued to profit off him. The lawsuit is seeking “damages and injunctive relief for Defendants’ ongoing infringement in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, as well as declaratory relief establishing the Shuster Estate’s ownership rights across relevant jurisdictions.”

The estate of Superman creator Joseph Schuster is suing Warner Bros. Discovery and its DC Comics, claiming it lacks the rights to release the upcoming summer tentpole in a handful of key territories.

Plaintiff Mark Warren Peary, executor to the estate, filed the suit today in Federal Court in the Southern District of New York seeking “damages and injunctive relief for Defendants’ ongoing infringement in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, as well as declaratory relief establishing the Shuster Estate’s ownership rights across relevant jurisdictions.

The matter is ripe for adjudication, it said, “as Defendants are actively planning a major new Superman motion picture and other derivative works for imminent worldwide release.”

The latest Superman starring David Corenswet in the title role, is fact, set for release on July 11. The cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.

Over the weekend, DC Studios released a new 30-second TV spot for Superman. Much has been said about a "goofy" shot of David Corenswet's Man of Steel in flight, but the preview featured another far more exciting talking point.

When Lex Luthor and Ultraman land in a snowy location we have to believe is near the Fortress of Solitude, it's in a helicopter or plane that looks very comic book-inspired.

However, upon closer inspection, we can see that it's green and purple! While this isn't overly easy to pick out at first glance, we've played around with the contrast and can confirm Lex is using this all-too-familiar colour scheme for his ship.

Remember, the first trailer showed several armed guards wearing uniforms which, as well as being green and purple, looked heavily inspired by the villain's Warsuit from Superman For All Seasons, a series we know Superman has taken some cues from.

Superman writer and director James Gunn has taken to Instagram to share a new, albeit familiar, look at the Dcu's Krypto. While this image will likely be familiar to those of you who watched the first trailer on repeat, the filmmaker has dropped a great hi-res shot of the adorable alien pooch.

The DC Studios co-ceo paired that with a piece of comic book artwork showing Superman flying through the skies of Metropolis alongside Krypto.

Gunn has previously described the Man of Tomorrow's relationship with Krypto as "complicated" and further elaborated on that point by saying, "You'll see in the movie that Krypto probably comes off as a better dog in the trailer than he is in the movie. Per Screen Rant, several Superman actors were present at the Fan Expo New Orleans event.
