Las Vegas — Perched atop the performer hierarchy in Las Vegas, where she holds court in the Caesars Palace Colosseum, five-time Grammy winner Celine Dion could quite easily sit on her laurels.
But the 45-year-old mother of three is using her influence on new projects, working on a new album due out in October and co-producing the show of a fellow French Canadian songstress setting up shop across the street at Bally's.
"I'm not looking to make friends in the business because I want to do my job, I want to have a good time and go home to my family," Dion said in a recent interview with The Associated Press, sitting on stage next to a protege with whom she casually chatted in French. "But Veronic – it's a different scenario. I'm not quite sure why. I want her to be my friend. I love her. I respect her very, very much.

Photo: First Look At Celine Dion's New Twins

Celine Dion has unveiled her new fraternal twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, in a new cover story for her native Canada's Hello! Magazine.
The twins, born in October, had Dion gushing. "They're so cute, it's incredible," she said. "When we look at them we can't believe it, and to have them here at home - it's all we could wish for."
"They're feeding every two hours now," she continued. "It's going well. I don't get a lot of sleep, yes, for sure I'm tired, but that's what I want."
Dion, who with husband Rene Angelil has a nine-year old son named named Rene-Charles, spent years trying to get pregnant again, going through IVF treatments and suffering a miscarriage. So the couple wanted to give the twins meaningful names.
"We met with Nelson Mandela and spent some time with him at his house when we started Celine's world tour," Rene said.
