Doc concluded its first season on a high note for Fox.
The finale of the freshman medical drama, which aired Tuesday, secured 2.4M total live + same-day viewers, per Nielsen, marking a 9% increase from the series premiere. In the 18-49 demo, the finale skyrocketed 56% over the premiere to a 0.28 L+Sd rating.
The demo success is particularly noteworthy, since its the strongest 18-49 growth for any major broadcast network scripted series, drama or new show, over the course of its premiere season since Fox’s Empire in 2015.
Averaging 2.3M live + same-day viewers and a 0.24 18-49 demo rating over the course of the first season, Doc is Fox’s highest-rated and most-watched new drama this season. Ultimately, episodes have swelled to an average of around 7.2M multi-platform viewers, more than tripling the L+Sd audience.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from “…Must Come Down,” the Season 1 finale of Fox’s “Doc.”
Molly Parker never expected to lead a project that she considers as mainstream as a network procedural. In her 30 years in the business, the Canadian actor has tended to gravitate toward the margins, making a name for herself as an indie darling and a strong supporting player in the early years of prestige TV.
But in spring 2023, just days before the writers went on strike in Hollywood, Parker took a meeting with “Doc” executive producers Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg about headlining their new gender-flipped Fox adaptation of a popular Italian medical drama. At the time, Parker could not bear the thought of spending time away from her teenage son — who was then going into his junior year in high school in Los Angeles — in order to shoot a months-long project in Toronto.

Medical dramas will never go out of style, but 2025 might be the genre's peak on television. Fox's new hit series Doc, which premiered in early January, has been one of the most prominent highlights on the channel. The series follows a doctor who suffers from memory loss after a traumatic brain injury, which makes her subsequent return to her career a major challenge. It seems Fox has moved quickly to award the show's high ratings with a surprise renewal update that marks a major commitment by the network.
Fox has commissioned a 22-episode Season 2 for Doc, which is currently airing its 10-episode first season on the channel and streaming on Hulu. A rare full-season order for the network, Fox is very pleased with the ratings success Doc is having thus far, especially on streaming. Fox has given an early, 22-episode Season 2 renewal to breakout freshman medical drama Doc, starring Molly Parker.
This is a rare full-season order of that size in the new broadcast era where seasons often consist of 13-18 episodes. The last Fox drama to produce 22 episodes was the network’s previous medical show, The Resident, which delivered 23 during the 2021-22 season.
What makes Doc‘s pickup size even more unusual is that it is given to a series that launched in midseason. As they only air for a couple of months, these freshmen have smaller orders, between eight and 13 episodes. (Doc‘s was 10.) That is not considered fully adequate for a show to prove itself, so midseason newbies typically receive a 13-episode Season 2 renewal that could be extended with additional episodes if the series returns strong in the fall. Doc joins very few midseason entries that have earned straight full-season Season 2 pickups,...

What happened to Amy in Doc?
While driving home, Amy makes the mistake of looking at her phone for a test result and gets into a crash. When she wakes up in the hospital, she has retrograde amnesia and thinks it’s still 2016.
