- In 2008 the Pittsburgh International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival awarded Charlie and his film, Mulligans, the Best Male Film award at the festival.
- In 2005 Charlie was recognized as one of Out Magazine's Out 100 alongside luminaries such as Sir Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Sharon Stone and the President of Spain.
- Charlie gained fame in Saskatchewan in the musical theatre troupe Sask Express. His larger than life stage persona made him a crowd favorite.
- In 2007 the Festival del Mar in Spain awarded Charlie the 'Best Male Actor' award with his cast mates for his work in 'A Four Letter Word'.
