What Was Ellen Pompeo’s Most Awkward Grey’s Anatomy Scene?(Photo Credit –YouTube)
Ellen Pompeo’s time on Grey’s Anatomy was filled with intense drama, both on and off-screen. While she’s no stranger to emotional moments on set, one particular scene in Season 2 proved to be more than just acting. It was uncomfortable and awkward and led to something really unexpected, leading her to cry real tears.
Filming Turned Into A Real-Life Nightmare
During an episode of Call Her Daddy, Pompeo revisited the uncomfortable experience of filming a love scene with co-star T.R. Knight, who played George O’Malley. Their characters’ ill-fated hookup was meant to be a messy rebound for Meredith Grey, but it was an emotional disaster behind the scenes.
On filming the scene, Ellen Pompeo admitted: “Can I tell you an inside story about that? T.R. and I are such good friends and we had to do a love scene,...

Ellen Pompeo will always be connected to Grey's Anatomy. She may no longer spearhead every episode, but she still provides narration and serves as an executive producer. Since she has been involved with the show for so long, however, Pompeo has been able to speak more frankly about her experiences making it.
This was incredibly evident during the actress' recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Pompeo was asked which Grey's Anatomy sex scene was the most uncomfortable to shoot, and she did not hesitate when it came to her answer. Pompeo deemed the sex scene between her character and George (T.R. Knight) in the season 2 was so bad she couldn't bring herself to watch it.
Pompeo was forced to shoot a sex scene twice
The actress clarified that her scene partner was not to blame. "T.R. and I are such good friends," she assured host Alex Cooper.

The whole “pick me, choose me, love me” personality of her Grey’s Anatomy character, Meredith Grey, was a big No for Ellen Pompeo. Turns out, the actress had some serious regrets about her character and how certain scenes were played out. But one particularly cringeworthy scene still seems to haunt her. You know the one where Meredith and George hook up.

Yeah so, according to Ellen Pompeo’s recent podcast, the actress was apparently so uncomfortable that she cried through the entire scene. Neither Pompeo nor T.R. Knight who played George O’Malley in the show—wanted to do that scene. And just when she thought it was over, the crew hit her with, “too much thrusting, let’s go again!” It seems the CPR went somewhere else.

Just like the rest of Grey’s Anatomy fans, there is one scene that Ellen Pompeo would rather not watch. While on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the star of the medical drama addressed the traumatic storyline where Meredith (Pompeo) and George (T.R. Knight) have an ill-conceived sexual encounter. The night almost destroys their friendship when Meredith starts crying after the deed is done. Confused by her break-up with the married Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Meredith says she didn’t know she didn’t want to do it until it was over. This reaction hurts George immeasurably, and -- as Pompeo said on the podcast -- the actors involved in the scene.

Ellen Pompeo Reflects on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Tabloid Backlash, Reveals Her Most Uncomfortable Sex Scene

Ellen Pompeo is looking back on how her onscreen love story with Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s Anatomy impacted her personal life and the sex scene she describes as “uncomfortable and awkward.”
While appearing on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast on Wednesday, Pompeo reflected on the epic love story her character Meredith Grey had with Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd and how that impacted her husband, music producer Chris Ivery, at the time.
“I mean, Chris really never watched the show that helped. It was better for him. He knew just not to watch. I was with him before Grey’s, so Grey’s kinda came out of nowhere for us. And I just think we were on this crazy ride that we were just trying to hang on for dear life,” the actress explained. She went on to recall backlash they began receiving from the tabloids, in particular...

Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo recounts an uncomfortable sex scene from the hospital drama, explaining why she wasn't a fan of it. Pompeo is readying to take on her first major television role since first appearing as Meredith Grey two decades ago, leading the new Hulu drama Good American Family. But even though she hasn't taken a step back from Grey's, appearing in a recurring capacity while continuing to narrate and executive produce the series, she still has plenty of thoughts to share about the stories that Meredith has been a part of.
In an interview on the Call Her Daddypodcast (via Variety), Pompeo recounted the sex scene that Meredith had with George (T.R. Knight) in the season 2 episode "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" and revealed that she and Knight didn't want to do it. Though she is friends with Knight, Pompeo talks in the quote below about...

Grey’s Anatomy has a knack for making pulses race with its hookups. But behind the scenes, the long-running ABC drama has also occasionally turned stomachs. Case in point: the Season 2 “moment” between Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith and T.R. Knight’s George.

While Ellen Pompeo views her former “Grey’s Anatomy” costar T.R. Knight as one of her closest friends, their love scene during Season 2 was one of her least favorite memories on set.

In “Forge,” writer-director Jing Ai Ng never reveals the secret recipe for the lacquer that has made it possible for Raymond (Brandon Soo Hoo) and Coco Zhang (Andie Ju) to pass off their replicas of fine art as the real thing. But the scientific elements involved are beside the point, for the second-generation Chinese American siblings know it’s confidence that will play the biggest role in convincing experts in the field that they’re in possession of legit paintings from local masters. After all, they’ve spent years watching their parents struggle with that dynamic in a culture that wasn’t their own.
Although Ng’s energetic debut feature has the expected crackerjack appeal of two underdogs attempting to outwit those with all the power, the real excitement comes from posing a more interesting version of the question of what is real. It may only be a matter of...

Ellen Pompeo recently shared an emotional moment on the set of Grey's Anatomy that had her struggling to keep her emotions in check. She said her daughter also cried at the scene.
"Now or Never," the season finale of Grey's Anatomy Season 5, was an intense, emotional rollercoaster with the fate of Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) hanging in the balance. When an unrecognizable John Doe is rushed to the emergency room after being hit by a bus, he communicates with Meredith (Pompeo), tracing "007" on her hand -- letting her know he is actually George.

When "Grey's Anatomy" premiered as a mid-season replacement in March of 2005 thanks to creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes, it's safe to say that nobody genuinely thought it would keep running and running and running until it became the longest-running medical drama in TV history. As of this writing, the show is partway through airing its 21st season — and even though Ellen Pompeo, the star of the series who puts the Grey in "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Meredith Grey, left the show as a main cast member in its 19th season, it shows no signs of stopping.
Due to the fact that, in real life, hospitals change personnel with some regularity and new intern classes begin their residencies each summer, "Grey's Anatomy" is able to remain (relatively) fresh even with hundreds of episodes under its belt, introducing new intern classes every few years to keep the momentum going. Sure, you're familiar with "Grey's Anatomy," the longest-running medical drama in TV history that premiered on ABC in 2005 as a humble mid-season replacement. Shonda Rhimes' soapy, steamy, and delightfully over-the-top hospital drama, led by Ellen Pompeo as the eponymous Dr. Meredith Grey, follows five surgical interns as they begin working at a major hospital in Seattle; after those interns become residents and attendings, the show keeps introducing new incoming intern classes as they're thrown headfirst into one of the most daunting and intense professions around. So, uh, what the heck is "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team?"
In January of 2018, a webseries called "Grey's Anatomy: B-Team" hit ABC.com, giving audiences a closer look at the 14th season's intern class. Introduced after the first few episodes of said season, Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), Dr. Sam Bello (Jeanine Mason), Dr. Casey Parker (Alex Blue Davis), Dr. Vikram Roy (Rushi Kota), Dr. Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliott), and Dr.

Grey's Anatomy has been going for almost two decades. The 21 seasons and nearly 450 episodes have introduced viewers to plenty of characters, but few have been as popular with fans as Dr. Derek Shepherd, who's been affectionately referred to as "McDreamy." Derek is a neurosurgeon who works at the same hospital as the main character, Meredith Grey, and even had a relationship and kids with her. Patrick Dempsey won over audiences' hearts as Derek Shepherd, and even received the honor of People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2023 after showing so much charisma in Grey's Anatomy.
The show controversially killed Derek Shepherd in episode 21 of season 11, titled "How to Save a Life." The episode is one of the lowest-rated episodes on IMDb, with a user rating of 5.6/10 with more than 3,000 reviews, mostly annoyed with how Derek was killed in the episode. However, McDreamy's death was a necessity, especially with situations in the background of the show's production.

The episode is one of the lowest-rated episodes on IMDb, with a user rating of 5.6/10 with more than 3,000 reviews, mostly annoyed with how Derek was killed in the episode. However, McDreamy's death was a necessity, especially with situations in the background of the show's production.

The lights have once more gone off at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital before Grey’s Anatomy season 22 returns to screens in 2025, and sooner or later they’ll never turn back on. Even with the sort of soft reboot a couple of years ago that brought in a new crop of interns, it can’t be long before Grey's Anatomy gets its usual blood lust and starts getting rid of characters for ratings.
That’s perhaps a cynical read, and I don’t mean it entirely, but I’m hurt at something that happened in Grey’s Anatomy season 21’s ending. No, not the cliffhanger, or the tragic suggestion of Jo’s miscarriage, or even the fact that Meredith seemed even more absent than usual. It’s all down to another one of those character exits the show likes so much.

Grey's Anatomy has seen many characters come and go during the course of its run, and among those who haven't been seen in a while is Martin Henderson's Dr. Nathan Riggs. Over seven years later, the actor has confirmed that he's open to the idea of returning as his fan-favorite character.
While speaking with Deadline to promote his series Virgin River, Henderson was asked about the possibility of returning to Grey's Anatomy. He teased that a return is possible, feeling that Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes would be supportive of a return of Dr. Riggs. It all comes down to scheduling, as Henderson is keeping pretty busy with his post-Grey's work.

Good mysteries are crammed with sneaky clues and red herrings, which makes rewatching them a delight. On a second viewing, passing comments can take new meaning, and seemingly innocuous decisions are imbued with surprising importance. While this can't be said for every television mystery show, many get better and better each time you see them.
In the most obvious sense, knowing the answer to a mystery helps the audience spot hints that have been peppered throughout a program, but that's far from the only benefit. If a mystery is engaging, then the audience spends much of their initial watch effectively playing along with the protagonist, uncertain of the veracity of what they're seeing and constantly suspicious of whom to trust. But since fans know each character's motive during a repeat viewing, they often find themselves seeing these individuals in an entirely new light.

Netflix has teamed up with Sonia Friedman Productions to produce the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which is “rooted in the mythology” of the hit streaming series Stranger Things and opened at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End last December. The show has been breaking box office records and won several awards, and in 2025, it will be making the jump to Broadway. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is set to begin previews at the Marquis Theatre on Friday, March 28, 2025 and officially open on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. A couple of months ago, we learned that the actor who will be playing the character of Henry Creel in the Broadway production is the same actor who has been playing him in London’s West End, Louis McCartney. Now, Variety has revealed the names of his fellow cast members.

Per Variety, Knight has joined the cast of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, a stage play opening in 2025 that's based on the Netflix series. Knight will play Victor Creel, the father of Henry Creel (aka Vecna). The play is a prequel to the series, set decades before the events of Stranger Things Season 1. The synopsis reads, "Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.”

This story contains spoilers for Grey's Anatomy Season 21, Episode 8, titled "Drop It Like It's Hot."
The big character exits fans were warned about ahead of Season 21 of Grey's Anatomy are coming to be. Shortly after the departure of Jake Borelli's Levi Schmitt, Midori Francis would depart the following week, which saw Midori Francis in her final appearance as Dr. Mika Yasuda.
In an interview with Deadline, Francis opened up about her exit from Grey's Anatomy. The character's exit episode saw Mika returning after the automobile accident that resulted in the death of her sister, and the trauma endured has left the doctor unable to properly work. Ultimately, Mika decides to leave Grey Sloan, as "everything around me reminds me of her." It was a sad way to see the character go, though Francis is very happy with the storyline from a creative standpoint.

Grey’s Anatomy spoilers reveal what happens to Midori Francis’ Mika Yasuda.
The November 7 episode of Grey’s Anatomy (Night Moves) ended on a huge cliffhanger, leaving many fans worried.
Mika Yasuda is a surgical intern at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. She began her hospital internship the day after a tornado hit Seattle.
Actress Midori Francis joined Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Mika Yasuda in Season 19, following a stint on The Sex Lives of College Girls (as Alicia).
Near the end of the November 7 Grey’s Anatomy episode, Chloe (Mika’s sister) woke up from her hospital bed, and the sisters decided to head home.
Mika was coming off a double shift, but noted that she “had a pretty good night” before saying, “Let’s go home.”
The writers and producers intentionally set up viewers with some upbeat music in the final segments of the episode, but then the scene shifted to an exhausted Mika while she was driving.

A sci-fi thriller Stephen Kingadaptation is now available to stream after being removed from another platform. Across film and television, there is a litany of upcoming King adaptations in various stages of development. On the immediate front, however, there are three big-screen projects to watch for: The Monkey, helmed by Longlegs director Osgood Perkins; Edgar Wright's The Running Man starring Glen Powell; and Francis Lawrence's The Long Walk. The first two movies are slated for 2025, while the third is undated.
On the TV side, there's Welcome to Derry, the television adaptation of the It movies, which will bring back Bill Skarsgrd in the role of Pennywise. While it might come as a shock, sometimes, actors root for their own characters to be written off of a show. The reasons can be as simple as that they are bored or that they find the experience too demanding. Sometimes, they receive a better offer and have to give up their current post. However, not everyone who wants their character dead has their wish to come true.
Sophie Turner famously didn't want her Game of Thrones character to survive the show, but fans would later learn that Sansa becomes one of the few survivors who thrive in the game for power. Similarly, many actors have very specific ideas for their characters to be killed off. Sometimes, the show honors their idea. Other times, they get a different, shocking death.

The long-running series Grey's Anatomy has had many casting shakeups over the years, and some actors have been cut loose from the series long before they were ready to say goodbye. That applies to April Kepner actor Sarah Drew, who can still recall how it seemed "unjust" when she was fired without warning from her role in the series back in 2018.
Per TVLine, Drew opened up on her Grey's Anatomy exit during an interview for the Call It What It Is podcast, which is hosted by former cast mates Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington. At the time of her firing six years ago, Drew made a comment that compared getting fired from the series to "attending [my] own funeral," and it was given a significant amount of attention in the media. The premiere episode, "If Walls Could Talk," was officially dedicated to Stephanie Leifer, a longtime ABC programming executive who spent a major portion of her career working to advance the success of Grey's Anatomy.
Although fans may not recognize Leifer as a household name, her lasting contributions to Grey's Anatomy speak volumes. As such, it's only fitting to reflect on who Leifer was, how she came aboard the show, and what she did to help make Grey's Anatomy the longest-running American medical drama in TV history. It's also important to hear what Leifer's friends and colleagues felt about her dedication to ABC and how her creative legacy will endure long after her untimely passing at age 56.
