Babak Anvari is set to direct a new sequel to Cloverfield, which is reportedly a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’s original 2008 film.
In a new interview during the SXSW premiere of his latest film Hallow Road, Anvari teased the new sequel.
“So sad that I cannot because everyone on that team is very secretive, which I understand,” Anvari told Countdown City Geeks. “But whatever happens, just know that hopefully you’re going to get something amazing.”
Although Anvari didn’t disclose any details about the follow-up film, he did express his excitement about the project as “high.”
Deadline reported in December 2022 that Anvari was attached to direct the new Cloverfield movie with Joe Barton writing the script, J.J. Abrams producing for Bad Robot, along with Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen. Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard are also attached as executive producers.

The Mayfair Witches season 2 finale, "Into the Woods," certainly saw a lot go down. There was a big and major death, a key character is leaving (we think?), and Rowan has now been changed, possibly forever. As far as finales go, I think it was a really good one! So is there more to come?
At the time of this writing, AMC has not revealed whether a Mayfair Witches season 3 is happening. The Anne Rice series has been a bit hit or miss with fans, especially those who have read the author's books and can't help compare the novel to the adaptation. I do agree that the series is messy and need some work if it does continue.
Though I do think the story could be written much better, there actually is more to tell and explore. Plus, Anne Rice's universe has become pretty established at the network, with Interview...

‘Mayfair Witches’ Showrunner Unpacks Finale Fates, Talks Anne Rice Crossovers and Hopes for Season 3

[This story contains major spoilers for the Mayfair Witches season two finale.]
For Rowan and the other Mayfair witches, the events of the AMC series’ season two finale signal that the game is on, says showrunner Esta Spalding.
As fans saw on Sunday night, with the help of Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) and others, Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) succeeds in taking down the Scottish Mayfairs — headed up by Cortland’s (Harry Hamlin) brother Ian (Ian Pirie) — after they kill Lasher (Jack Huston) for the power of his blood. While Rowan is able to save Lasher, once in the fight to stop Julien, the other Mayfairs and save his children with Emaleth (Henessi Schmidt), he is felled.
In the lead up to his death, Julien’s intentions behind the sacrifice of both of his sons as well as Lasher come into starker focus, as does Julien’s necessity for Rowan and her power as part of a much larger plan...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Mayfair Witches Season 2 finale, “The Innocents.”] Leave it to those damn Mayfair Witches to turn ankle biters into appetizers! In the second-season finale of the Anne Rice adaptation series, our head witch in charge, Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario), managed to foil the Scottish Mayfairs’ grisly master plan to breed the hell out of newlywed demon Lasher (Jack Huston) and his baby-dispensing bride Emaleth (Hennesi Schmidt) before slaughtering their myriad (and rapidly growing) spawn. Why kill the kids? Because it turns out their blood is loaded with Lasher’s magical ability to control nature, to create life and reverse death. With assists from her current beau Lark (Ben Feldman), her ex Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) and his Talamasca pals, hilarious cousin Moira (Alyssa Jirrels), oh, and a werewolf, Rowan was able to tap into her newly evolving abilities to take down her relatives and save the lil ones. But alas, she was...

[This story contains spoilers from Mayfair Witches‘ penultimate episode of season two, “A Tangled Web.”]
Alexandra Daddario doesn’t feel like she can trust Mayfair Witches’ leading lady Rowan Fielding — and she’s not sure you should either.
The star of the AMC series, the second in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe franchise, admitted as much while discussing Rowan’s fate and what’s ahead for her, Moira (Alyssa Jirrels), Lark (Ben Feldman) and Cortland (Harry Hamlin) ahead of Sunday’s episode, “A Tangled Web.” The penultimate episode of season two ended on a stomach-clenching cliffhanger, after Rowan and the others found themselves trapped in Scotland as unexpected guests of a wedding for a prophesied union.
When Lasher (Jack Huston) is seemingly taken from Rowan by the Talamasca, she discovers a more sinister plan is afoot that has whisked him away to Scotland. Crossing the Atlantic in hopes of finding and retrieving her son, her former (demon) lover, and a magical accelerant to her power and the Mayfair coven,...

The AMC series Mayfair Witches recently debuted its second season and the show has been going strong till episode 6. The Alexandra Daddario starrer had a decent first season that was a faithful adaptation of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels. Now, the witches are back to uncover more secrets.
While the sophomore season is still on episode 6, the series shows immense potential and plenty of material to cover. [Warning: The below contains spoilers for Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 6, “Michaelmas.”] New Orleans got a break from those chaotic Mayfairs this week as Rowan (Alexandra Daddario), Lark (Ben Feldman), Moira (Alyssa Jirrels), and Cortland (Harry Hamlin) headed to Scotland in search of demon-on-the-go Lasher (Jack Huston). And it was there that they met a new batch of Mayfair men who welcomed them into their own brand of crazy. Jonathan Hession / AMC Arriving just in time for Michaelmas, which is apparently a religious feast celebrating the end of the harvest through unsettling costumes and masks made of human skin, our traveling troupe almost immediately winds up in a mass. Moira goes missing, there’s no room at the inn they’ve booked themselves, and everyone in town seems to specialize in side-eyeing the newcomers. That is, until a fine young lad named Hamish is tasked with delivering Rowan, Cortland, and Lark to what turns...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 4, “Double Helix.”] The past — both recent and realllly far back — came back to haunt Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) on this week’s episode of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, and TV Insider was on set to see some of it come to life. In the hour, entitled “Double Helix,” we got flashbacks that filled in the blanks about why Rowan’s med-school romance with geneticist Lark (Ben Feldman) in San Francisco came to an end. Turns out, he was the one who sank it by taking a job in New York, without even telling her he was even applying for it months earlier! Obviously trusting this guy is risky, as proven by his secretive swiping of her teacup to test against the DNA sample she’d already given him. Needless to say, the results (exact matches!) left him shooketh. Skip Bolen/AMC Still, it was fun to...

Ask the average pop culture fan about Mindy Kaling and they’ll likely respond about her career as a writer, actor, and general celebrity. They’ll probably credit her, to varying degrees, for a range of projects she’s been on or behind the scenes of since “The Office,” but maybe not the specifics of her work as producer.
Kaling became a producer on “The Office,” but in 2012 founded Kaling International at the same time that she launched her own sitcom, “The Mindy Project.” Since then, the company has produced original titles across film and television, from the aforementioned single-cam sitcom to recent hits like “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” which concluded its third season on Max. To celebrate another season, we decided to revisit every Kaling International title as a primer or refresher for those interested in her work.

An acclaimed NBCsitcom is getting the remake treatment. Although a few genre-defining comedies on the network have steadfastly avoided going through a revival or a reboot, such as Friends and Seinfeld, another influential comedy has had several iterations. The Office originated as a British workplace sitcom, spearheaded by Ricky Gervais. Still, following the global reach of the U.S. version, more country-specific offshoots have popped up.
There are several remakes of The Office, including versions that recreate standout scenes from the original. There has also been the recent Australian take on The Office for Prime Video, which went in a different direction by casting a female character in the bumbling Michael Scott role. A more recent well-liked NBC workplace comedy is getting a remake, albeit only the second.

Justin Spitzer's irreverent, beautifully weird workplace comedy "Superstore," which ran from 2015 to 2021, shared some traits with other popular "office" sitcoms like "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Parks and Recreation," and, well, "The Office" — if any of those shows had a running gag about finding severed feet in their respective workplaces, that is. So why did the show end after its sixth season?
The answer is both simple and complicated if I'm being honest; a major star made the choice to leave the series behind for new opportunities, and a global pandemic put a damper on pretty much all human interaction and work for a while. Let's back up for one moment, though. "Superstore," true to its name, takes place in a fictional big-box store called Cloud 9 — which certainly bears some similarities to Targets and Walmarts across the country — and in a particular branch in St. Louis, Missouri that happens to be...

Part of the burgeoning Immortal Universe, the popular show expands on the supernatural world that began with Interview with the Vampire. After reuniting with her birth family in season 1, she discovers that she is part of a lineage of witches to whom a spirit named Lasher has been attached for generations.
Mayfair Witches season 1 ended with Rowan giving into her calling as Lasher's chosen witch and literally giving birth to him in human form. AMC's critically-acclaimed adaptation of Interview With the Vampire recently wrapped its superb second season, but the network's other serialized take on the works of the late Anne Rice, The Mayfair Witches, is also set to return for a sophomore run, and a new teaser trailer and poster have now been released.
The first season concluded with Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) giving birth to a human incarnation of the demon known as Lasher (Jack Huston), fulfilling the Mayfair family prophecy in the process.
This came on top of Rowan discovering that she is the heiress to a long line of witches - and learning the truth behind her own parentage, which ultimately led to her using her new magical abilities to turn her biological father to stone.
“In the books, [Lasher] grows really quickly in a matter of minutes. We’ve drawn it out a little bit,” showrunner Esta Spalding reveals to TV Line.

Superstore, which has been off the air for more than three years, is sorely missed, but the good news is that NBC released the show's best replacement series in the fall of 2024. The original sitcom premiered in November 2015 and was beloved by many, as proven by its impressive run on NBC and 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. Superstore ultimately produced six seasons and 113 episodes before it came to an end in March 2021. While it would be difficult for any TV show to follow in Superstore's footsteps, one 2024 workplace comedy has the chops to do so.
A few months before the Superstore series finale, a spinoff, Bo & Cheyenne, was said to be in the early stages of development at NBC. As the title suggests, it would have featured Johnny Pemberton and Nichole Sakura reprising their Superstore roles as Bo and Cheyenne, respectively. However, NBC later decided not to go forward with the spinoff.
