Tom Hanks is known as one of the nicest people in Hollywood, having worked as a leading man for several decades. Aside from some of his critically acclaimed roles, Hanks is known for co-creating the war drama miniseries Band of Brothers. However, while directing one episode of the series, Hanks rejected one actor for allegedly having dead eyes.

The actor in question Connor Ratliff ended up starting a podcast based on the experience. Ratliff eventually managed to get Hanks as a host on his podcast, where the actor shared his side of the incident leading to the young actor’s firing. Hanks understandably apologized to Ratliff for the incident and here is how the interaction between the two went down.

Bad Behaviour (Alice Englert)
Watch an exclusive clip above.
Bad Behaviour cannot pick a tone. Over the 107 minutes of Alice Englert’s debut feature, the only consistency comes from constant shifting. Following Lucy (Jennifer Connelly), a former child actor attending an enlightenment retreat, and her daughter, Dylan (Englert), the dark comedy switches between these two stories until they converge in the third act. Neither plotline has enough substance, though, acting like a series of half-baked ideas about wellness, parenthood, and happiness. – Michael F. (full review)

Embarking on a journey back to a pivotal moment in TV history, it’s hard to believe that over two decades have passed since Band of Brothers deeply engraved its narrative in the heart of popular culture. When it debuted back in 2001, the war drama miniseries—created by Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks—became a tremendous commercial and critical hit.
The gripping story of the ‘Easy’ Company’s World War II involvement cemented HBO’s standing as a major force in television. Even though the show debuted more than 20 years ago, viewers still find it compelling. Why?
Tom Hanks’ Band of Brothers | HBO Entertainment
In a 2021 interview with Deadline, Hanks spoke about why, even after several years, the Emmy-winning series keeps enticing viewers. As he revealed, there was a time when the series seemed destined to be shrouded in uncertainty, its future hanging by a thread after a real-life tragedy (9/11 terrorist attacks) shook the world.

Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries is set to launch two new comedy podcasts, both humorously anchored in nature. There is something genuinely heartfelt about I’m ‘George Lucas’: A Connor Ratliff Story. Directed by Ryan Jacobi, the documentary tells the story of New York-based comedian Connor Ratliff and his long tenure playing “George Lucas” on The George Lucas Talk Show, an improvised, monthly comedy series designed as a late-night panel talk show in which real-life guests act as though they are conversing with the real George Lucas. The majority of performances were staged at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City. The show also gained a brand-new, expanded audience over Zoom during the pandemic.
We follow Ratliff through his routines preparing for each show, explaining his process along the way. Collaborators like Griffin Newman (who plays “Watto”) and Patrick Cotnoir (who produces the show) try explaining Ratliff to the viewer. The overall explanation seems to be that there is not much of an explanation. He...

I'm "George Lucas": A Connor Ratliff Story is a feature "portrait of an artist" doc made by filmmaker Ryan Jacobi as his directorial debut. Five years into performing as renowned filmmaker George Lucas in the NY cult comedy show "The George Lucas Talk Show" (more on YouTube), comedian Connor Ratliff questions the need for its continuation and his own drive for success and fulfillment in show business. Jacobi explains how he got into making this: "Seeing that creator/host Connor Ratliff had done the same nerdy deep dive and knew all the intricate details of George Lucas’s life, while not taking any of it too seriously, connected me to this performer immediately... I learned so much through Connor about the value...

Angourie Rice plays the naïve new student Cady Heron who tries to fit in with the popular Plastics clique in the final trailer for Mean Girls, which hits theaters on Jan. 12.
Cady navigates the elite girls club led by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika Vandanapu) after moving from Kenya to a Chicago suburb and struggling to survive her new high school jungle.
That challenge only grows when Cady falls foul of Regina when she gains the attention of her ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, played by Christopher Briney, with whom she soon has a serious crush. “We as women have to support each other,” Tina Fey says at one point in the trailer as she reprises her role as math teacher Ms Norbury to underline the movie’s message: Girls shouldn’t be trying to tear each other down in high school.

The upcoming Mean Girls remake, based on the Broadway musical, disappoints by missing the opportunity to include the original cast. The absence of Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried is even more prominent after their reunion in a recent commercial. The new cast of Mean Girls (2024) is unlikely to live up to the original due to the memorable stars of the first film, suggesting the inclusion of new characters may have made the remake more exciting.

The boundaries of the streaming world are beginning to break down: more HBO shows are officially coming to Netflix. Warner Bros has been dabbling in licensing titles out to the massive streamer for a while now, setting up a deal back in June that's already led to the Issa Rae-led comedy "Insecure" finding a new home on Netflix. Now, though, Netflix is about to have countless dads standing by the TV transfixed: two war epics from master filmmaker Steven Spielberg are set to drop on streaming on September 15, 2023.
Limited series "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" are new classics in their own right. It's Star Wars Celebration week, folks! The annual Jabba-and-Jawas jamboree is coming to London this year, and that is all the excuse that Connor Ratliff, Griffin Newman and Patrick Cotnoir needed to bring their runaway hit, The George Lucas Talk Show, to the Soho Theatre for a couple of shows on Friday April 7th and Saturday April 8th. If you're unfamiliar, it's an improvised spoof chat show in which Ratliff plays Retired Filmmaker George Lucas and Newman plays his sidekick Watto, interviewing real guests about Star Wars and other animals.
Our Chris Hewitt is a huge fan, and he jumped at the chance to talk to the trio about the show's origins, how it transformed during the pandemic, and what they have in store for London audiences. Enjoy.

The “Mean Girls” musical has cast “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm as Coach Carr. The Emmy-winning actor and star of “Confess, Fletch” and “Beirut” will play the school’s gym teacher and sex-ed instructor. The film will adapt the Broadway musical, which in turn was an adaptation of the 2004 theatrical comedy “Mean Girls.”
The Paramount film, about a teen girl who moves from Africa with her anthropologist parents and finds herself unprepared for the community dynamics of an American public high school earned solid reviews and grossed $130 million worldwide on a $17 million budget in early 2004, becoming a generational touchstone on par with “Clueless” and “Heathers.” This live-action musical version will debut on Paramount+.

Connor Ratliff spent the last 20 years trying to figure out why Tom Hanks fired him from a small role on HBO’s Band of Brothers.
His podcast Dead Eyes documents this journey and Ratliff has finally found his white whale – Hanks is coming on his podcast for the season three finale.
Ratliff, who is currently starring in Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has produced 30 episodes of the audio series, which is based around the suggestion that the Forrest Gump star said that he had “dead eyes” and replaced him with another actor at the last minute.
The show has featured conversations with the likes of Rian Johnson, Seth Rogen, Jon Hamm, D’Arcy Carden, Aparna Nancherla, Judd Apatow and Colin Hanks but now it has reached its peak guest in Hanks.

Warning, this review contains spoilers for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Episodes 3 and 4.
Grief, burlesque, musical theatre, an awkward bar mitzvah -- this show has it all!
And that was only on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Episode 3. There was a whole other hour after that, with just as much humor and shenanigans!
Tits up, Ladies, we are going through hell.
It’s always difficult when a cast member passes away.
Brian Tarantina, who played the Gaslight emcee, Jackie, passed away in November 2019. Much of Episode 3 dealt with the aftermath of Jackie’s sudden passing, with Susie losing her horrible apartment and moving in with Midge as she mourned her friend.
There is much dark humor played for laughs here. Connor Ratliff is suitably creepy as Chester, listing off the many deaths that occurred in Susie’s apartment. Despite the gravitas of Tarantina’s memory, there are still tasteful jokes...

Vice President Joe Biden knows any dent in the national debt is something to be excited about.
During a visit to Burlington, Vermont, on Friday to participate in a discussion about cancer research, Biden took President Barack Obama‘s 2008 slogan, “Change We Need,” to a new level when he knelt down to pick up two quarters on the sidewalk outside a local restaurant.
And he could not have been more excited about it.
Perhaps the only ones more excited about the find were witty Twitter users who were quick to relate to Biden’s joy about the loose change.

Picture the scene: Connor Ratliff is turning 13. He wants to throw a birthday party. Furthermore, the budding funnyman wants it to be a smash, and so he plans to show “the funniest movie of all time.” He’s never seen it, but no matter, because it’s been described as “the funniest movie of all time.” It was not "the funniest movie of all time." A few months ago, we introduced you all to the wonderful show that was going on under the radar on Manhattan public television; The Chris Gethard Show. The show, the terrifically goofy brainchild of New York comedian Chris Gethard, has steadily been building an audience with its comedy nerd mentality and "no cool kids" atmosphere. And, while we haven't written about it in a while (despite the fact that we are all still devoted endorsers of Connor Ratliff's presidential campaign), we couldn't pass up on last night's episode in which cast and crew of Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Chuck, and more surprised a 16 year old comedy fan and gave her advice.
