It was one of the most entertaining and memorable Emmy Awards ceremonies of this century, with an energetic opening, a perennial favorite setting a record, several first-time winners and a favorite drama continuing its reign. Jimmy Fallon hosted the event on August 29, 2010, for his first (and only) time and led one of the best openings in Emmy history. Let’s flashback 10 years ago to that event on NBC.
Fallon began the night with a pre-taped bit in which he ran into cast members from “Glee,” who were despondent that they couldn’t afford to go to the awards show. But – lo and behold! – there’s a singing contest with enough prize money to get them tickets; however, they need a few more people to be eligible to participate. What follows is a hodgepodge mix of celebrities who enter into the fray – Tina Fey can’t “sing and dance as good...

Exclusive: Rising Danish actress Clara Rosager (Before The Frost) has joined Keira Knightley-fronted Miss World movie Misbehaviour in the supporting role of Maj Christal Johansson, Miss Sweden.
The Crown outfit Left Bank Pictures is producing the dramedy, currently in production, which is set against the backdrop of the 1970 Miss World competition in London, hosted by Bob Hope. The newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the beauty contest. When the show resumed, the result caused uproar: the winner was not the Swedish favorite but Miss Grenada — the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.
Knightley leads cast with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley, Keeley Hawes, Rhys Ifans, Greg Kinnear, Lesley Manville, Loreece Harrison and Phyllis Logan. As we revealed yesterday, Suki Waterhouse will play Miss USA. Philippa Lowthorpe (Three Girls) is directing. Screenplay comes from Rebecca Frayn with revisions by Gaby Chiappe.

Dolores Hope wanted to live in Beverly Hills, but her funnyman husband, Bob Hope, had other ideas. "Every time I mentioned Beverly Hills, Bob would go out and buy another piece of property here," Dolores would say, waving a hand to indicate the vast spread that the two of them inhabited in the San Fernando Valley's Toluca Lake starting in 1939. Eventually the grounds surrounding their English-style manor swelled to 5.16 acres, and the family grew to include four children. The house grew, too, to 15,000 sq. ft., leaving Bob to joke that he needed a map just to find the way to his room.

Singer and philanthropist who was married to Bob Hope for 69 years
The singer Dolores Hope, who has died at the age of 102, was known primarily for her 69-year marriage to the comedian Bob Hope, with whom she performed on television and in concerts for American troops stationed overseas. Growing up in the Bronx, New York, Dolores had always wanted to be a singer. Her husky voice and striking looks quickly brought her regular work under the stage name Dolores Reade (inspired by the Broadway star Florence Reed). In 1933, at the Vogue club in New York, Dolores's rendering of It's Only a Paper Moon captivated Hope, who was a rising Broadway star and performing in the musical comedy Roberta at the time. Hope became a constant visitor to the Vogue thereafter, and the couple married on 19 February 1934. Dolores joined his vaudeville show and they moved to Los Angeles.

It seems that Jon Cryer got a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood yesterday. Now, I’ve got nothing against the guy, but when I saw that headline, I thought: How quaint! Walk of Fame? So 1950s. Indeed, my general feel of the thing turns out to be correct: the Walk dates from the 1950s. The Walk’s official Web site calls it “the world's most famous sidewalk,” which is sort of charming and small-town homey, and appropriate, perhaps, for Hollywood, which is its own kind of huge small town. The plaques embedded in the sidewalk do end up being used as memorials sometimes, which coincidentally also happened yesterday, when Bob Hope’s widow, Dolores Hope, passed away at the age of 102, and @wofstargirl tweeted:...
