Coi has remained a force within hip-hop with her sharp flow, slick delivery, and catchy hooks. She has contributed to the meteoric rise of women in hip-hop.
The past few years have been a whirlwind for Coi. The Boston-born and New Jersey raised star first cracked the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the start of 2021 with her RIAA Certified Platinum hit single "No More Parties," making her late-night television debut by performing the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And it's been up ever since. By the Spring of '21, Coi graced the cover of XXL Magazine as part of their coveted Freshman class, racking up award nominations everywhere-from Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist at the 2021 American Music Awards to Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Best New Artist at the 2021 BET Awards.
In 2022 as Coi enters the next stage in her career with the release of her long-awaited debut album TRENDSETTER-armed with her latest single Coi Leray & Nicki Minaj: Blick Blick! (2022) featuring Nicki Minaj-Coi maintains her brand of pure vibes and artistry, mixed with commercial appeal. Coi Leray: Twinnem (2021) was the target of a huge viralization on the video sharing platform Tik Tok. She was nominated for a TikTok Bop of the Year and even debuting at Number 2 on Billboard's Top Triller U.S. charts. She followed with the early 2022 release of Coi Leray: Anxiety (2022) which is already making its impact in a major way. Coi has tapped into multiple parts of the entertainment industry, with her own cooking show Cooking with Coi Leray (2021) to being the face of Kim Kardashian's SKIMS "Cozy Collection" campaign. She is setting trends in every way possible, which has culminated in finally dropping her full-length project. Over one billion streams later, Coi Leray is geared for the release of TRENDSETTER.
Coi's become a trailblazer for melodic rap, though she really pushes her bars to the limit on songs like "Box and Papers" with Chief Keef and "Mission Impossible" with Lil Tecca. It's here that we remember the girl with the spitfire flow.
With every track and every new venture, Coi has proven her star power-and she's still just getting warmed up. "I hope the fans really understand what a really versatile artist is and what a real star is," she says of matter-of-factly. "Don't put me in a box. You may see me dancing or doing TikToks, but the truth of the matter is, I can do it all."
