Racquel Baker
- Producer
- Writer
Born and raised in LA, Racquel Baker began creative writing at six years old as a form of escapism and self expression. When she wasn't writing she was watching way too much adult TV unsupervised. This combination led her to receive a B.A. in Media Studies at UC Berkeley and an M.A. in Communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After grad school, Racquel worked in advertising as a strategic planner where she constantly read scripts for her client, NBCUniversal. She became captivated by this form of storytelling and experienced an unprecedented calling to become a screenwriter. Before quitting her job, she reached out to various writers on social media for advice on breaking in, one of whom was Lena Waithe. After forming a relationship with Lena, Racquel quickly transitioned from her intern to full time assistant. While employed as her assistant, Lena gave Racquel the opportunity to co-write an episode on season 1 of BET's Boomerang. Once Racquel ended her time as Lena's assistant, she became Writers Assistant on season 1 of BET's Twenties and season 2 of Boomerang, where she also wrote the season premiere. Since then, she's been staffed on Freeform's Good Trouble and was Story Editor on Season 2 of Apple TV's Swagger. She's a Co-Producer on Season 6 of Showtime's The Chi and continues to develop her own projects. She's repped at Grandview by Erick Mendoza and Tracy Kopulsky.
