Lead singer of post-punk band Killing Joke. Born in England, raised in Egypt. Joined Matt Stagger Band with Paul 'Sequence' Ferguson in the late 1970s. Quit and form Killing Joke in 1978. The duo recruited bassist Youth and guitarist Geordie Walker. In 1982, Coleman (obsessed with the occult) decided that the apocalypse was near, so he left the group and ran away to Iceland. While there, he worked with a number of Icelandic bands, most notably Theyr, which would later evolve into The Sugarcubes (with Björk). With no sign of end of the world, Killing Joke reformed in 1984. Composer for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Also worked with Anne Dudley (of The Art of Noise).
