Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a 4K remaster for The Muppets Take Manhattan.

Set to officially be released on Oct. 24, the new release features an all-new 4K restoration of the film using the original camera negative. This marks the first Muppets movie to get a special 4K release. Along with the 4K restoration, the new 4K Blu-ray release will also include an all-new audio commentary with director Frank Oz, woh approved the 4K picture and Atmos sound mix. Other special features included are a classic interview with Jim Henson and a "Muppetisms" featurette with Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Pepe, and Fozzie Bear.

Chicago – I will never forget meeting Olympia Dukakis. It was in Chicago in 2009, and among all the pomp and sequins of a Greek American awards night. it was Dukakis who was, by her natural presence, the movie star. Oh yeah, and she was slightly tipsy. Ms. Dukakis passed away in New York City on May 1st, 2021, age 89.

She was known for her high level of performance on stage and screen, and resided in both for over 60 years. She won a Golden Globe and Academy Award (Best Supporting Actress) for “Moonstruck” (1987), and garnered two Obies (Off Broadway Theater Awards) for her work in outer circle and independent theater. She also was a prominent acting instructor, a political activist (her cousin was 1988 Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis) and wrote her memoir in 2003 entitled “Ask Me Again Tomorrow: A Life in Progress.”

When Paul Cantelon was tapped by first-time feature director Harry Mavromichalis to score “Olympia,” the documentary on Academy Award-winning actress, Olympia Dukakis, he was more than prepared to craft music that underscored her Greek heritage.

When Cantelon’s preacher father met his first-chair trumpeter mother, their family life becomes one of traveling evangelical tent meetings with Cantelon growing up on couches in different people’s homes. A number of these homes belonged to Greek families where he heard Greek music that became part of his musical lexicon. Over 30 years ago, when Cantelon met his wife, vocalist Angela McCluskey, she had a great love for Greece and took him to that country, where Cantelon was immersed in the music.

“[Mavromichalis] has a lyrical sense for picture,” says Cantelon from his Nichols Canyon home studio in Los Angeles. “He was a dancer and he has a musical, rhythmic sense to the way he shoots and edits.

Stereotypically You centers on Charlie Carroll (Aaron Tveit), who loses his job and his girlfriend on the same day, as he goes on a journey of self-discover. Kal Penn will play a serial womanizer in the dating comedy, which also stars Lauren Miller, Cloris Leachman, Abby Elliott and Kelen Coleman. The venerable stage and screen actress Olympia Dukakis is poised to reprise what is perhaps the most iconic role of her career – and certainly one that had a huge impact on her outlook on life.

No, not her 1987 part as Cher's mother, in some sort of sequel to the hit movie Moonstruck, which won her an Oscar. Dukakis is in talks with the author Armistead Maupin about embodying once more – after a long hiatus – the character Anna Madrigal, the transgender landlady of a fictional house in San Francisco, where the legendary writer set his Tales of the City novels.

It’s weird seeing a follow-up from a director who has made such a classic film yet nothing since. It’s even more weird that the film, American History X, isn’t something he’s proud of and tried to change his name to Humpty Dumpty on it. Odd, still, that Detachment, the new film from Tony Kaye, went pretty much unnoticed after festivals and went, instead, released to On Demand services and disappointing considering the talent within the film alone and the fact that it is, quite frankly, pretty brilliant. A film so packed with acting talent, melodramatic story, great music and hit-and-miss direction means that you have something of a separation with the audiences.

Coming your way in limited release on September 23rd, A Bird of the Air is a quirky, indie number that looks as charming as anything to come along in a while. Centered around a loner who finds a parrot, and embarks on a mission to return the bird to its rightful owner, it's a kind of quest film that spins out of control.

If the trailer is any real indication, my money is on this one coming together into a very solid effort, and one that I think many will find themselves watching again and again.

Tony Kaye didn't disappoint. In front of a packed house at the Bmcc Performing Arts Center during the Tribeca Film Festival, the British director that once wanted his name replaced with "Humpty Dumpty" on "American History X" came out onstage with the greying beard of a hermit, the glasses of Sigmund Freud, a black guitar and a Whole Foods shopping bag to mumble an introduction of his film "Detachment" before breaking out into a full-blown song that ended with the audience chanting, "I don't care." (A sample lyric: "Brainwash my confidence away...begging for peace of mind may seem selfish and unfair...I don't care.) Columbo is one of television’s most beloved characters thank to the sophisticated writing of Richard Levinson and William Link in addition to the performance from Peter Falk. The rumpled detective appeared for seven seasons on the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie and then returned for a series of telefilms in the late 1980s.

All seven seasons were collected between 2004 and 2006 with the 1989 set of telefilms released in 2007.

Universal is finally releasing the 1990 set of telefilms on February 3 according to TV Shows on DVD. The set of six episodes will come on three discs and retail for $26.98. The titles for the record are:

Dawson's Creek star Michelle Williams is set to star in the indie comedy A Hole in One for writer-director Richard Leeds. Set in the early 1950s, the privately financed Hole centers on a young woman named Anna Williams, who is convinced that she needs a lobotomy, a common surgical procedure to treat depression during that time. Anna meets a doctor who will perform the surgery; at the same time, she is trying to get out of a relationship with her abusive boyfriend, Billy (Meat Loaf), who is trying to convince her not to have the surgery. Billy coerces his friend, a Korean War veteran, into posing as a doctor, only to see the two of them fall in love. Tim Guinee, Louis Zorich, John Tremblay, Robb Wells and Jonathan Watton round out the cast.
