Saudia Young
- Actress
Saudia Young is an actress and singer born in New York City and grew up in the mean streets of pre-gentrified Tribeca. Young is a child of the sixties born into a bi-racial artistic/activist family. Young's mother was the late jeweler/sculptor Cara Croninger, her father was the late actor Otis Young (The Last Detail, The Out Casts), and her alleged Godfather was James Baldwin. Young studied acting with Wynn Handmann and at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. In addition to mainly 'off the grid' film work, Young acted in theater, co-created the solo show Sneaker Revolution, and wrote and produced a dark comedy short entitled The Gallery, which made its way through the festival circuit. Based in Berlin, Young is the front woman for her Noir Rockabilly Blues and Dark Kabarett bands. Young has been nominated by the Ameripolitan Music Awards 2023 for Rockabilly Singer - Female. Young co-founded several theater projects stateside and in Berlin. A constant theme in Young's songwriting, theater, and film projects is the notion of home, family, outsider art, and radical collaboration.
