Jamie Campbell Bower may have captured global attention as the nightmarish Vecna in Stranger Things, but long before he terrorized Hawkins, he had a small cameo in the Harry Potter franchise. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, Bower played a young Gellert Grindelwald, the dark wizard with a connection to the past of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. During a recent appearance at Como Fan Event (via Et Online), Bower revealed that his appearance in the movie could have been virtually non-existent if he had accepted director David Yates’ offer of a stunt double for his scene.
Stepping into the role of Grindelwald for a very small flashback scene was a great moment for the Stranger Things star, but he had to insist on performing his own stunt as otherwise he would have pretty much eradicated himself from the movie. Discussing his decision, Bower said:

The Harry Potter franchise featured a series of critically acclaimed actors, as well as many stars on the rise. Jamie Campbell Bower was one of them.
The actor was not one of the original child actors and made his debut later in the series, appearing briefly in 2010's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1. He had a short scene where he played a young version of Gellert Grindelwald. At the Como Fan event in Italy, per TikTok, the actor revealed a surprising story about his magical casting in the franchise.

The Harry Pottermovies did a great job bringing to life the beloved characters of the series. However, as an adaptation that was made at the same time as the books, it contains plenty of controversial scenes. With four different directors, the eight Harry Potter films didn't always maintain consistency from one movie to another. What's worse, some creative decisions went against the main themes of the books, totally disappointing fans.
No film adaptation is going to be exactly like the books, but some scenes in the Harry Potter movies clearly denote that the creative team behind them didn't take the time to read or fully understand the series. This is especially obvious in the latest films when David Yates prioritized certain romantic moments over believable character development and the main storyline. For Harry Potter fans, it is very important to respect certain elements of the story, so these scenes stand...

Did Jason Isaacs try to steal from Harry Potter sets? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
There was a certain mischief that lurked behind the grandeur of the Harry Potter sets, an unspoken game of sneaky souvenir hunting that added another layer of excitement to the magic behind the scenes.
Jason Isaacs, the man who brought the formidable Lucius Malfoy to life, found himself at the center of one such failed heist. It wasn’t a vault at Gringotts he attempted to rob, but something far simpler, a prop that had become an extension of his on-screen persona. His elegant walking stick, a symbol of Malfoy’s aristocratic menace, had grown on him over time.
It was no surprise that he wanted to keep it but the attempt, however, was short-lived. Caught in the act, he was left empty-handed and that was just the beginning of his prop-related woes.

Emma Watson rose to prominence at a very young age after she portrayed the fan-favorite character of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. She not only garnered attention but also experience, after which she starred in movies including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, Noah, Beauty and the Beast, Little Women, and more. The actress is often called a role model, but she has not been keen on the term, as she explained that the term puts the fear of God into her.

When the first "Harry Potter" film released in 2001, director Chris Columbus, then best known for "Home Alone," introduced the word to Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger and placed them in the wizarding world beloved by fans of the book series. So why did Columbus direct the first movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (or "Philosopher's Stone" if you're outside of the United States), follow it up with "Chamber of Secrets," and then leave the franchise as a director? Put simply, the guy was really tired.
In a retrospective with The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 celebrating 20 years of the "Harry Potter" film franchise, Columbus explained that both "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets" had incredibly arduous shooting schedules. "'Sorcerer's Stone' took 160 days of shooting, which is ridiculously long," Columbus recalled. "And then, immediately after we stopped shooting, we started shooting 'Chamber of Secrets,...

I completely understand that adapting a beloved book series for the big screen is a difficult and precarious task, especially when you're talking about the "Harry Potter" novels written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. The seven books, which span a couple thousand pages and covers the life of the boy wizard named Harry Potter (played in the film franchise by Daniel Radcliffe), are massive and chock-full of lore, building the Wizarding World brick by brick and introducing everything from wand types to wizarding currency to magical slang. When it comes to the film adaptations, which were helmed by a collection of directors, the creative team did a pretty phenomenal job for the most part ... but one huge issue is the character of Ginny Weasley, played by Bonnie Wright.
I don't want to speak ill of Wright, but the bottom line here is that the young actor — who appears in all eight movies as Ginny,...

What’s in the box, Harry?! The beloved Harry Potter film franchise could’ve taken a much darker turn if director David Fincher had gotten his hands on it. In an interview promoting the upcoming 4K re-release of Se7en, the filmmaker told Variety that Warner Bros. once asked to speak with him about potentially adapting J.K. Rowling's book series about a young wizard for the big screen.
“I was asked to come in and talk to them about how I would do Harry Potter,” Fincher remembered. “I remember saying, ‘I just don’t want to do the clean Hollywood version of it. I want to do something that looks a lot more like Withnail and I, and I want it to be kind of creepy.”
Needless to say, the studio wanted to take a different, more family-friendly creative direction. “They were like, ‘We want Thom Browne schooldays by way of Oliver,...

Harry, Hermione and Ron might've got a cauldron full of house points for Gryffindor over the years, but they only managed to get one film onto IMDb's Top 250 list, and it might not be the one you're thinking of. In the pantheon of "Harry Potter" films that saw Daniel Radcliffe's orphan and number one horcrux in the side of He Who Must Not Be Named aka Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), there are plenty to great watches to choose from. Some that might not have aged as well as others and some that might sit lower down the list, but they have a handful of memorable moments regardless. However, according to IMDb's users, it's the latter half of the final chapter in the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," that deserves a slot among the select few.

Gladiator 2's Box Office Pushed Ridley Scott Past A Major Milestone Only 9 Other Directors Have Done

2024 was a year filled with plenty of great box office successes, ranging from the biggest animated film of all time in Inside Out 2 to the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation ever, but one success that may have gone slightly under the radar was the historical epic sequel, Gladiator II. The legacy sequel was directed by Ridley Scott, one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, and its monetary success has earned him a very significant box office status that only a few other directors have managed.
While Gladiator II's reviews were tamer when compared to some of the bigger successes of the year, and fell short of the other half of the "Glicked" phenomenon, the film was an absolute hit, grossing over $430 million during its theatrical run. The film was a boon for many of Gladiator II's cast, bringing their box office scores up quite significantly. However, the addition to...

David Fincher is not the type of director one would automatically think of to bring Harry Potter to the big screen, but the director was at one point in talks with Warner Bros. about doing just that. However, his pitch likely would have ended the franchise before it even began. Hot off the critical acclaim of movies like Se7en and Fight Club, the director was one of many high-profile filmmakers Warner Bros. looked to for the launch of the Harry Potter franchise. Other names included Steven Spielberg, M. Night Shyamalan, Ivan Reitman, and Terry Gilliam, to name a few. Fincher is best known for psychological thrillers like Zodiac, Gone Girl, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so it isn't shocking to find out the director had a very different take on the material.

Gladiator II has been performing modestly at the box office but it has now helped Ridley Scott pass a major box office milestone worldwide. Gladiator II has helped to propel Ridley Scott past a major box office milestone. Since its release on November 22, Gladiator II has had a modest showing at the global box office. Though losing out to Wicked in the Barbenheimer-like "Glicked" battle, Gladiator II has had several notable box office achievements over the course of its run. This has included becoming the highest-grossing film in Denzel Washington's career, beating out the Equalizer franchise and other notable titles. The film remains in theaters today, where it now competes with newer releases like Nosferatu, Mufasa, and A Complete Unknown.

When people remember the "Harry Potter" movies, they're usually at least partially thinking about the score from the legendary John Williams. In terms of how memorable and evocative it is, "Hedwig's Theme" is up there with "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars" or "He's a Pirate" from the "Pirates of the Caribbean Movies," in that everyone can remember and accurately hum it at a moment's notice. Regularly producing bangers like this, it should be no surprise that John Williams has earned over 50 Oscar nominations over his career.
That's why it's a little surprising that Williams wasn't actually there for most of the "Harry Potter" films. The soundtrack for "Goblet of Fire" was composed by Patrick Doyle, "Order of the Phoenix" and "Half-Blood Prince" were composed by Nicholas Hooper, and both "Deathly Hallows" films were composed by Alexandre Desplat. With Jon M Chu’s toe-tapping Wicked film in cinemas now, why is its two-part status getting us all riled up?
It’s all Peter Jackson’s fault, really.
When folks complain about Hollywood’s relatively new obsession with cutting films in half, few seem to be talking about the New Zealand director’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy – if only because the narrative hack-job was done more than 40 years before production started. Jrr Tolkien apparently wasn’t best pleased when his publisher insisted on chopping his fantasy epic into some more manageable chunks – by the time New Line was in the mood to put Frodo’s story on-camera, he wasn’t best-placed to complain (he’d died in 1974).

While the movie's sequence of events seems strange, the Pain Husters' true story is just as bizarre and hard to believe. Directed by David Yates (State of Play), Pain Hustlers is a fictional retelling of the 2016 Insys Scandal, when racketeering charges were brought against the company and several employees. HBO has a Harry Potter show coming out in 2026, and it is shaping up nicely, but one Harry Potter star pointed out the potential problems with the remake. The Harry Potter reboot comes after Warner Bros.' incredibly successful movie series, beginning in 2001 with the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie and ending in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The upcoming TV show has big boots to fill, with the resounding impact of the movies behind it and a point to prove.
The HBO Harry Potter TV show will have to prove its reason for existing in its first season, which may be a challenge when J.K. Rowling's stories were told so well by the movies. Directed by Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarn, Mike Newell, and David Yates, this eight-movie series adapted the last Potter novel in two parts, to allow for a lengthier exploration of events.

Updated November 13, 2:59 p.m., with exclusive details: Netflix VP Film Niija Kuykendall is the latest executive out at the streamer amid staff trimming heading into the holidays.

The Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore ending set up the franchise's future, which ended without moving forward to the ultimate Dumbledore vs. Grindelwald wizard battle. Directed by David Yates, the film is the third in what was originally planned as a five-film franchise. While Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them followed magizoologist Newt Scamander on his adventures, The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore veered away from Newt to make room for Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
The Secrets of Dumbledore delves into Dumbledore's history with Grindelwald and their blood pact while exploring more of the Dumbledore family dynamics and backstory. Fantastic Beasts 3 involves many characters, a plan to stop Grindelwald, and more information about the Wizarding World and how it functions. Crucially, the film also set up the direction of Fantastic Beasts 4, which never happened since Warner Bros. canceled the franchise due to lackluster box office success.

If you were hoping the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise would return, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Eddie Redmayne, who stars in the Fantastic Beasts franchise as Newt Scamander, gave a less-than-optimistic update while speaking with ComicBook.com.
“I think they probably have [seen the last of Newt],” Redmayne said. “That was a very frank answer, but yeah. And that’s as far as I know. I mean, you’d have to speak to the people at Warner Bros. and J.K Rowling, but as far as I know, that’s it. I think he may come back in a glimpse in the Universal world in Florida that they’re opening up, in which you may catch a glimpse of what he was up to in Paris.“

Seeing how Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was released all the way back in 2001, it was inevitable that the worldwide phenomenon would get a reboot as it hit the two-decade mark. Warner Bros. and HBO confirmed that the reboot television show will be released sometime in 2026, and longtime fans of the franchise can't contain their excitement.
Seeing that the reboot will be in a longer format, they are thrilled that the expansive story of Harry and the Wizarding World will finally get room to breathe and plenty of screentime to showcase parts of the story that were missing from the movies.

2016's The Legend of Tarzan was a critical and commercial failure, even though it had assembled many of the ingredients that could have made it an adventure classic. The movie, which starred Alexander Skarsgrd as Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane, was a retelling of the story of the iconic Edgar Rice Burroughs character. Tarzan is a multimedia icon, and his story was adapted to the screen as early as 1918 in the silent film Tarzan of the Apes, with more than four dozen adaptations to follow, including Disney's Oscar-winning 1999 animated movie Tarzan.
The 2016 title is the most recent Tarzan movie to hit the big screen, and its general reception may be one reason that the property has since gone dormant on the big screen for nearly a decade. In addition to most likely failing to turn a profit in theaters, it was excoriated by critics and met with apathy from general audiences.

The Wizarding World continues to spark discussions due to the incredible Harry Potter films, yet Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore often gets overshadowed. The Fantastic Beasts series is already being forgotten, and I know the film did not do so well with audiences and critics alike. However, despite the reception, I believe that Fantastic Beasts 3 has a unique charm that resonates with viewers like me, as it offers new takes on the enchanting world of Harry Potter that I love while forging its own engaging path.
Though the film has its fair share of flaws, I still find something undeniably engaging about Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and, in my opinion, Fantastic Beasts 3 fixes the franchise's previous problems. For me, it stands out as the most mature and driven entry in the spinoff series, even if it can't hit the same heights as the Harry Potter saga. Fantastic Beasts 3's setting,...

The Harry Potter movies were based on J.K. Rowling's excellent book series but some of their funniest moments were totally original. The Potterverse movies kept the spirit of Rowling's story in the best possible way, with the first and second installments arguably being the most faithful fantasy adaptations out there, bar minimal departures from the source material. For instance, Sirius Black deserved more screen time, especially given Gary Oldman's performance. However, it was the directors Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarn, Mike Newell, and David Yates who really brought the Wizarding World to life.
All eight Harry Potter movies diverged from the books to a certain extent, including leaving out a lot of Percy Weasley's story and giving a lot of Ron's lines to Hermione. The directors and producers of the movies made changes based on creating better drama and pacing; this sometimes resulted in hilarity. That said, a lot...

The "nude" Harry and Hermione scene in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was one of the most controversial moments in the Harry Potter movies and the glimpse of naked Hermione and Harry exemplified the franchise's later struggles with appealing to both adult and young audiences. The moment Hermione and Harry share a kiss only happens in Ron Weasley's vision. Ron's anxiety over, and jealousy of, Harry and Hermione's closeness manifests thanks to one of Voldemort's Horcruxes (namely Rowena Ravenclaw's locket).
In The Deathly Hallows, when Harry opens Rowena Ravenclaw's locket, the piece of Lord Voldemorts soul kept in the Horcrux begins to torture Ron by mocking his greatest fears. Apparitions manifest from deep within Ron's psyche, such as an imagined moment when Harry and Hermione question his value and tell him they would be better off without him. While Chris Evan’s career was mostly dictated by Captain America in the last decade, playing a brave man, who is a symbol of truth and justice, isn’t exactly his cup of tea. Before landing the part of Steve Rogers, Evans mostly took gigs of characters who were a far cry from his virtuous Marvel counterpart.

Moreover, after parting ways with the MCU in 2019, the actor was back to playing such smug characters again, especially in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. David Yates, who helmed Evans’ Pain Hustlers, later touched on the actor’s tendency to play such morally questionable characters, which doesn’t resemble Evans in the slightest.
