One of the most prolific action movie writers is making a leap into television. Shane Black will be bringing the Bannerman series of spy books to AMC for a new series. The Lethal Weapon writer is developing the series along with The Walking Dead‘s Greg Nicotero with his AMC network deal, and they will be joined by Brian Witten for development, according to Deadline. The book series includes the titles, The Bannerman Solution, The Bannerman Effect, Bannerman’s Law, Bannerman’s Promise, and Bannerman’s Ghosts. Jeffrey Maxim is also reportedly attached as a consulting producer.
Black discusses why he’s adapting the property, “Maxim is an untapped national treasure, and AMC provides a proper fit. It’s time.” “I read this entire series years ago and found the contrasting worlds of these dark and tortured souls desperate to live normal lives quite compelling,” Nicotero adds. “To partner with Shane on this,...

It won't surprise you to learn that the director behind darkly comedic action films like "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "The Nice Guys" is a big fan of John Maxim's bestselling thriller series about "retired" assassin Paul Bannerman. In fact, the filmmaker in question, Shane Black, even tweeted about his love for the series back in 2021, snapping a photo of all five novels spread out on a table and writing, "The year is 1990 and thriller writer John R. Maxim is at the top of his game. Before Lee Child ... before Vince Flynn ... there was Maxim. The guy simply brings it. Everything I crave. A masterful writer." Perhaps this was our first hint at a series to come ... or just Shane Black manifesting a potential project in the hopes of sparking some interest. Either way, it all worked out in the end: AMC has acquired the rights to the spy...

AMC is developing a scripted series based on John R. Maxim’s Paul Bannerman novels.
Shane Black, Greg Nicotero, and Brian Witten are developing the series together. Nicotero is currently under an overall deal with AMC Networks. In addition, Jeffrey Maxim will serve as a consulting producer.
The book series consists of five titles: “The Bannerman Solution,” “The Bannerman Effect,” “Bannerman’s Law,” “Bannerman’s Promise,” and “Bannerman’s Ghosts.” The official synopsis of “The Bannerman Solution” reads, “Paul Bannerman was once his nation’s deadliest weapon – a top covert operative heading up the most lethal group of contract agents and network specialists in all of Europe. Now Bannerman is a liability – an unpredictable loose cannon that could irreparably damage America’s shaky intelligence structure, if he chose to. So the decision has come down from the top: Bannerman and his people must be eliminated.”

Exclusive: As reams of Comic-Con attendees mill around dressed as flesh eaters or take part in zombie-themed events, filmmaker Greg Nicotero and his Monster Agency Productions has teamed with Jimmy Miller’s Mosaic to mount a movie about the making of George Romero’s 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. From unlikely origins and a budget around 115,000, the film hatched the whole zombie genre and is regarded as arguably the greatest horror movie ever.
Nicotero is one of many creatives in film, TV and video games who’ve benefited from Romero’s pioneering in the carnivorous-corpse genre. He has directed 39 episodes of The Walking Dead, including the series finale he’s still finishing. Although he’s got a long list of genre credits, Nicotero actually learned his craft on Romero’s films. They are both from Pittsburgh — and so, for that matter, is Miller — and they all knew each other well.

AMC Networks has unveiled a slew of renewals across its streaming services.
Kin, Bloodlands, My Life Is Murder, Creepshow and Slasher have all been picked up for additional seasons.
Slasher, which airs on Shudder, has also set Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack as lead on its latest installment, Slasher: Ripper.
The series, which has been renewed for its fifth season, is heading back in time to the late 19th century — there’s a killer stalking the mean streets, but instead of targeting the poor and downtrodden like Jack the Ripper, The Widow is meting out justice against the rich and powerful. The only person standing in the way of this killer is the newly promoted detective, Kenneth Rijkers, whose ironclad belief in justice may wind up being yet another victim.

Looks like “Creepshow” is more than creeping towards an early season 3 renewal.
Shudder, AMC’s horror and supernatural streaming service, has ordered a full set of season 3 scripts for the series based on George A. Romero’s iconic 1982 movie,Variety has learned exclusively.
The order comes despite the fact its second season isn’t close to being in the can yet. Season 2 of “Creepshow” was due to start shooting in March in Atlanta, but was hit by the coronavirus production shutdown which has blighted every single film and series across the country.
As Shudder general manager Craig Engler explained in a statement, the script order is a contingency plan to allow showrunner Gerg Nicotero and the creatives behind the show to “get as far ahead as possible.”
“Although season 2 is on pause while we wait until it’s safe to go into production, we wanted to use the time to...

Hulu is adapting Clive Barker’s story collection, Books of Blood, as a movie, adding Star Trek director Brannon Braga and a stacked cast.
Books of Blood, the 1984-1985 six-volume short story collection that first brought maestro of macabre Clive Barker to prominence, is getting a feature film treatment. However, don’t expect to find said film at theaters, VOD, or, for that matter, even Netflix. – It’s coming to Hulu!
Brannon Braga, the veteran writer and producer of the Star Trek franchise, will be the driving force behind Hulu’s Books of Blood in a move that will certainly delight Trekkies… well, the ones who can appreciate hellishly twisted creatures and ambulatory flayed people. The project will be the feature directorial debut for Braga, who’s also serving as executive producer, set to co-write with Adam Simon, who worked with him on Wgn America series Salem.
