PalmStar Media options rights to novels Doc, Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral.

Jeremy Renner will star as the legendary gunfighter Doc Holliday for PalmStar Media.

Kevin Frakes, PalmStar Media CEO, announced the casting on Monday after he optioned rights to Mary Doria Russell novels Doc and Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral.

Frakes will produce alongside Renner and Don Handfield’s The Combine.

Russell’s novels chronicle the life of the gunslinger who lived in the second half of the 19th century and went from being a gentleman dentist in Reconstruction-era Atlanta to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Wyatt Earp in the gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

News confirms with the actor's rep that Renner's 8-month-old miniature French bulldog, Franklin, whom he adopted last year, died on Saturday at a Little League baseball game. Here's what happened... Jeremy Renner is mourning a friend gone too soon. The actor's 8-month-old miniature French bulldog, Franklin, died Saturday at a Little League baseball game, TMZ reports. Renner's friend and business partner Kristoffer Winters was dog-sitting and took the puppy to his nephew's game. The cream-colored dog was running around in hot temperatures and later began to vomit and convulse. According to TMZ, Winters returned from getting a snack to find the dog dead in a stranger's arms. Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer

To absolutely no one's surprise, Hollywood has plumbed the vacuous depths of the children's lit market and come up with yet another hopeful franchise. Obviously, author Megan McDonald meant for her girl with the tangled red hair, the so-called "heroine" of the Judy Moody book series, to evoke aspects of both Pippi Longstocking and Ramona Quimby. This adaptation, directed by John Schultz (who helmed the similarly frenetic Aliens in the Attic), manages to stuff a whole lot of turbulent action into this movie despite the fact that there's nothing going on in the process. It's not even loosely controlled -- it's completely uncontrolled and exceedingly loud to boot. For the simple reason that it's not only a very boring movie but also a very shrill one, adults will positively despise Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. Kids will tolerate it well enough, but they won't get anything out if it either.

Chicago – Films based on children’s book series can’t all be good. The law of averages eventually catches up to the literary moppets who turn their charms towards the big screen. Case in point, the below average “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.”

The film is all sticky, cutesy poo (literally) that is as welcome this summer as a mosquito at a barbecue. Strangely cast in the film is Heather Graham, as free-spirited Aunt Opal, acting much as she did when she shed her clothing as Rollergirl in “Boogie Nights.” And the hyper-caffeinated Judy Moody is stuck in overdrive through Jordana Beatty’s performance, a child actor least likely to evolve to a post adolescent career.

As if last week's announcement that Bravo had picked up 11 new series and renewed five wasn't enough, the network announces that it has eight new series in development including a scripted series in conjunction with Lionsgate.
