One of the most iconic on-screen horror couples of the past decade is about to make their final appearance in the upcoming film The Conjuring: Last Rites. Director James Wan recently took to his Instagram page, @creepypuppet, to share a post signaling the official start of filming for the fourth and final film in the main series.
The photo shows chairs for Ed and Lorraine Warren, the infamous demonologists based on the real couple of the same name. Within The Conjuring Universe, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson have played them in all three main films, starting with the 2013 film, along with making appearances in a few others, such as Annabelle Comes Home.

Sitcom fans may remember Cristin Milioti from How I Met Your Mother. For comic book fans, she is now the Batman villain Sofia Falcone aka the Hangman. However, fans who have followed her career throughout the last decade would agree that her best performance was seen in Fargo. She played the secondary character Betsy Solverson in the second season of the series.

Fans always wondered why she wasn’t nominated for any awards for this role. For fans, Betsy’s intelligence and intuition made her much more than just a secondary character. Several reasons can be listed for why the layered role is perhaps the best in Cristin Milioti’s entire career.

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. We had previously heard that this movie would be filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but apparently they’re doing some work across the pond as well, as we also heard that filming was scheduled to take place in London, England from September 10th through October 10th this year. Whatever the schedules and locations may be, The Conjuring: Last Rite is indeed currently in production – which producer James Wan has just proven by sharing an image from the set!
Showing the chairs meant for franchise stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, Wan wrote, “Always good to see and hang out with old friends. Gonna miss everyone. End of an era.“

It's finally here! October, the best month of the year, especially if you're a horror movie fan. Any time of year is the right time to watch a horror movie, but there's something extra special about watching horror movies as we draw closer and closer to Halloween. And to help you get into the spirit of the season, this month's horror streaming roundup is all about ghost movies! Not just haunted house movies, mind you — but movies about ghosts and all their spooky antics. I like all horror subgenres. Vampires? Hell yes. Slashers? Absolutely. Monsters? Yep! But of all the various types of horror movies, movies about ghosts are my personal favorite. I can't say that I believe in ghosts, but like Fox Mulder, I want to believe. Until some sort of ghostly evidence presents itself to me, I'll stick with the movies. So grab your candy corn, carve a pumpkin or two,...

No matter how you feel about Rotten Tomatoes, it's now more important than ever when it comes to whether moviegoers decide to check out the latest releases in theaters, and it's not uncommon for studios to tout scores as proudly as they do star ratings.
In the case of the DC Extended Universe, the franchise has never had a particularly easy time of it with critics. These movies were overshadowed by the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the start; attempts to be totally different failed and later releases which borrowed heavily from the McU's tone drew a mixed response.
The Dceu started with 2013's Man of Steel and, technically, ended this month with Joker: Folie à Deux. Like The Batman and Joker, that wasn't set in the Dceu itself but it was released pre-DC Studios and under the Warner Bros. umbrella.

For many of us, spooky season lasts all year long, especially if you are a fan of horror movies. But with The Conjuring (and its direct sequels) leaving Netflix as of Sept. 30, you may be wondering if there are any similar horror movies you can still watch to get through the rest of the official spooky season.
While The Conjuring is definitely a favorite, there actually are quite a few alternatives on Netflix that are worth watching at least once. And they include at least one movie featuring Ed Warren himself, Patrick Wilson.
The Haunting in Connecticut
The fact that this story starts with a real life trauma thanks to a cancer diagnosis makes this horror movie that much more engaging. According to the very simply synopsis offered by Netflix, "A family's move to Connecticut takes a dark turn when shocking paranormal events reveal that their new home is a...

There was a time when if someone could act, sing, and dance, they were called a "triple threat." The idea was that they were viable, versatile performers for both stage dramas and musicals, making them a threat to any actor who only had talent for one or two of the above techniques. In modern cinema, where musicals are largely out of vogue, the "triple threat" might now refer to someone who can act, perform martial arts, and do their own stunts. In the modern landscape, fighting is more common than dancing.
Many actors, however, still undergo voice and dance training on the regular, wanting to be as versatile as possible. Many modern film actors, one might find, started on the stage, sometimes belting out some of Broadway's most famous showtunes, before becoming genre stars on the big screen. Case in point: Hugh Jackman. Jackman rose to worldwide fame in 2000 after...

Zack Snyder thinks ‘Watchmen’ is his best comic book film. The 58-year-old director has helmed several blockbusters in the genre such as ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, though has now revealed he is most proud of his 2009 picture - which starred Patrick Wilson and Jeffrey Dean Morgan - because he felt it was "the cleanest, and kind of most satisfying, transition to adapted material".Speaking to ComicBook.com. he said: "Well, weirdly, I kind of look at it in two ways. Like one I think, of course, ‘Man of Steel’, ‘BvS’, ‘Justice League’, is its own thing ... I don't know necessarily, whether it's a comic book movie in the classic sense, for me. But I can understand how people would say that because those are comic book characters and whatever, but, that's just based on ideas that I had about comic book characters. "I would have...

The Conjuring 4 – or The Conjuring: Last Rites – has landed in London for production ahead of its 2025 release. More here.
If you’re keeping track of The Conjuring series of movies and it assorted spin-offs, then just know that to collect them all on physical media you’re going to need to invest in a good shelf from Ikea. Other suppliers are available.
However, in terms of the actual main line of Conjuring films, there have been three. By my reckoning, there have been five direct spin-off movies, so they’re winning. Still, as you’ve probably gleaned from the headline to this story, there’s now a fourth The Conjuring film that’s recently gone before the cameras.
It’s called The Conjuring: Last Rites, and we’re willing to bet a reasonable amount of money that it won’t be the last one. Screen Daily is reporting too...

For decades, Hollywood has had a habit of revisiting classic films. While it has often led to mixed results, that has not stopped studios and directors from trying their hand at different remakes. However, not all of them have gone according to plan. Most recently, it was revealed that the Independence Day director, Roland Emmerich, would be turning a legendary film into a television series for the world to see.

However, there is something about this rumored Emmerich remake that has put fans particularly on edge. And it might have something to do with the 68-year-old’s last failed project, Moonfall.

‘Millers in Marriage’ Review: Edward Burns Contends with Age and Art-Making in Mature Mid-Life Drama
In the films and television shows he’s made as a writer-director, Edward Burns has never not made things personal, but retaining the same level of creative control that he had on his breakthrough “The Brothers McMullen” has often required working on modest budgets and with younger casts and crews, naturally making the work itself move farther away from who he is now. In a marketplace starved of thoughtful adult dramas, that makes his return to center stage in “Millers in Marriage” a welcome one, as Burns mines territory he’s familiar with after turning 50.
“All I’m looking for is a stable relationship with a woman my own age,” Burns’ character Andy can be heard telling his new girlfriend Renee (Minnie Driver), putting her at ease when she worries he might want kids. They’re at a summer home that Renee got in a divorce, and by the standards of “Millers in Marriage,...

There is something almost remarkable about how “Millers in Marriage,” a relationship drama written and directed by Edward Burns (who also co-stars), manages to gather a group of some otherwise acclaimed actors, sticks them in rooms to talk through what are inevitably emotionally charged situations that their characters are facing, and comes out with something so empty. This void of a movie has plenty of the right pieces to work with at hand, but continually arranges them in the most blunt, least interesting manner possible. It’s a film that bolds, underlines and then shouts at you what it’s about, though never authentically earns your emotional investment.
Save for the more measured performance of Minnie Driver, none of the other actors emerge unscathed as all get dragged down by overwritten dialogue and painfully unsubtle storytelling.

Apart from penning bestsellers for the past 5 decades, another thing that the horror maestro excels at is when it comes to taking shots at Donald Trump. To put it mildly, the acclaimed author Stephen King isn’t a fan of Trump and has been pretty outspoken about his viewpoints on the Home Alone star.

From calling his presidency into question to expressing his distaste for the former US president, the author has continued to voice his issues with Trump and even accused him of dividing the country into two.

There was at least some hubris in Weezer’s 30th anniversary Blue Album tour announcement. Openers the Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. are more than potential show-stealers, they’re established headliners in their own right. How do you follow that? You drop a giant curtain to reveal a Weezer-branded spacecraft. It seemed instantly clear at the tour opener in Saint Paul, Minn., on Sept. 4 that Weezer have reached new heights as an arena band.

The occasion marked the couple’s public debut at an official event though they did not pose on the red carpet together outside Palazzo del Cinema. They did, however, attend a cocktail reception at the Hotel Excelsior before the world premiere as well as a post-screening reception at Palazzina Grassi, and they were captured in paparazzi images going to and fro. Well, folks, summer is almost over. For some of you, this will be bad news — summer is a time of fun in the sun! Others will find solace in the fact that fall, arguably the best season, is on the way. But no matter how you feel, the simple fact of the matter is that change is inevitable. We can't stop the seasons anymore than we can stop Netflix from saying goodbye to certain titles once the calendar rolls over. So as August gives way to September, it will be time to part ways with several movies and TV shows currently available on the streaming giant. As usual, we're here to both list all the titles leaving the service and highlight a handful that you definitely want to check out before they're gone. There's always a chance these films and TV shows will return to Netflix one day, but for now,...

Stephen King might not typically be the person folks look to for Western movie recommendations, but the horror legend took to Twitter/X recently to recommend an overlooked Western starring the always-great Kurt Russell. King has written some stories that are Western-adjacent, especially his "The Dark Tower" series, but generally his work is in a very different genre. The movie he recommended, however, totally makes sense, because it's probably the most horrific Western ever made.
The Western King recommended was "Bone Tomahawk," S. Craig Zahler's 2015 film that stars Patrick Wilson as Arthur O'Dwyer, whose wife Samantha (Lili Simmons) has been kidnapped by the terrifying "Troglodytes," a group of cannibalistic cave people. Russell plays Sheriff Franklin Hunt, who gets drawn into helping O'Dwyer with a ragtag group of townsfolk, including bloodthirsty lawman John Brooder (Matthew Fox) and the town's doctor, Deputy Chicory (Richard Jenkins). When it comes to sending chills down the spine & conjuring nightmares (that linger in broad daylight), could anyone surpass the eerie craftsmanship of Stephen King? Well, this is not a hard question! Grasping the reins of horror with the skill of a seasoned charioteer, this Maine-born maestro has been transforming our fears into a cacophony of terror since his debut, Carrie, set foot in the literary arena back in 1974.
King’s quill, dipped in the ink of the supernatural & the macabre, has sketched out thrilling geographies where cars like Christine (from his same-titled novel) develop deadly minds of their own, and hotels like The Overlook from The Shining become characters as complex as any human.

The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. set to give the film a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release. We had previously heard that this movie would be filming in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but apparently they’ll be doing some work across the pond as well, with filming scheduled to take place in London, England from September 10th through October 10th this year. Industry scooper Daniel Richtman has gotten his hands on a casting call that reveals some details on a few supporting characters that will be required on the set in London.
We don’t have any plot info on The Conjuring: Last Rites at this time, all we know that the story takes place in the United States in the 1980s, but thanks to Richtman and the casting call we know about these characters:

Before the age of Primetime Emmy Awards sweeps for comedy “Schitt’s Creek” and drama “The Crown” – a trend that could very well continue this year by either “The Bear” or “Shōgun” – there was “Angels in America.” The HBO miniseries adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tony Kushner won 11 Emmys back in 2004 and famously took home the prizes in all seven top categories, making it the very first program to do so. This year’s 76th annual ceremony marks the 20th anniversary of the show’s historic night. To celebrate Kushner’s birthday on July 16, let’s flashback to that epic Emmys sweep.
The television adaptation followed just 10 years after the premiere of both plays on Broadway in 1993. Those original productions of “Millennium Approaches” and “Perestroika” nabbed seven Tony Awards combined, including two wins for Best Play, one for director George C. Zack Snyder took on a major challenge when Warner Bros. approached him to make Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s classic comic Watchmen into a film. Several directors were considered for the film, which had been in development hell since 1987. Snyder’s stylish take on Frank Miller’s comic 300 impressed the studio.

Snyder took up the project as he viewed it as a deconstructionist comic book in the superhero genre. The Man of Steel director wanted to make a film that showed superheroes with vulnerabilities like sexual anxiety, agoraphobia, and other wild human emotions.

Hailing from Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment releases director Brandon Vietti’s feature via digital platforms Aug. 13 before it hits Blu-ray on Aug. 27.
The voice cast includes Matthew Rhys as Dan Dreiberg and Nite Owl, Katee Sackhoff as Laurie Juspeczyk and Silk Spectre, Titus Welliver as Rorschach and Walter Kovacs, and Michael Cerveris as Jonathan Osterman and Dr. Manhattan. Also voicing characters are Troy Baker, Adrienne Barbeau, Corey Burton, Jeffrey Combs, Kelly Hu and Phil Lamarr.
“There is good, and there is evil, and evil must be punished, even in the face of armageddon,” Welliver says as Rorschach in the trailer.

Are you ready for one last scare from everyone’s favorite ghost hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren? New Line Cinema just announced that the final chapter in The Conjuring franchise will hit theaters on September 5, 2025.
Over the past decade, The Conjuring movies have terrified audiences around the world, grossing over $2 billion total. The first film in 2013 really started it all, taking in almost $320 million on just a $20 million budget. It introduced us to the real-life married paranormal investigators played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
Since then we’ve seen all sorts of spin-offs, like Annabelle and The Nun. Director James Wan really helped define the modern haunted house style of horror. His classic approach in The Conjuring was both creepy and a big success.
Now Michael Chavez, who also directed The Conjuring 3, is taking the reins for the fourth and last installment. While we don’t know much yet about the plot,...

Paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) are suiting up to investigate what could be their final case. Warner Bros. has set a September 5, 2025 release date for The Conjuring 4, which is said to be the final installment of the main series.
The untitled Conjuring movie is set to be directed by Michael Chaves, who is no stranger to the franchise. He helmed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, as well as The Nun II. Chaves also directed The Curse of La Llorona, which is often mistakenly included in the franchise. While the film has several notable connections to The Conjuring Universe (including an Annabelle easter egg and Tony Amendola reprising his role as Father Perez), Chaves confirmed last year that it’s not part of the franchise.
“There’s so much debate about it and I think I’ve played coy in the past,” Chaves said.

Ed and Lorraine Warren are returning to us in the fictional universe of The Conjuring. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has confirmed the date of the fourth film in the popular horror franchise, and it's set for release in theaters and IMAX on September 5, 2025.
Supposedly, this will also be the "final" film in The Conjuring film series, though I don't necessarily believe that. Even if the mainline films are finished after The Conjuring 4, I'm assuming we'll still see additional installments in the franchise in the form of its spinoff series like The Nun and Annabelle. But we'll see what happens.
Variety says The Conjuring 4 hasn't been officially titled yet, but I've seen conflicting reports indicating it will be called The Conjuring: Last Rites, which would fit with the finality of it all. Still, September 2025 is a long way off, so I wouldn't be surprised if the name undergoes changes between now and then.

The end of the Conjuring story is now in sight. New Line has set a Sept. 5, 2025, release date for the untitled fourth Conjuring movie, which the studio is billing as a finale for the main set of films.
Michael Chavez is directing the movie after helming 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. He is a Conjuring mainstay, also known for the 2023 Conjuring spinoff, The Nun II. Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick penned the script.
James Wan helmed the original The Conjuring, which bowed in 2013 and earned nearly $320 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. The series centers on supernatural investigators Ed and Lorrain Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Combined with its spinoff movies, the franchise has grossed more than $2 billion globally. In addition to the Conjuring and Nun movies, the universe has launched a series of Annabelle features, focused on a doll first featured in The Conjuring.

Marking Gyllenhaal’s follow-up to the Academy Award-nominated Netflix drama The Lost Daughter, The Bride! watches as a lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) travel to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police and a wild and radical social movement.

The $2 billion-grossing “Conjuring” franchise gets its grand finale, with Warner Bros. dating a final “The Conjuring” movie for release in theaters and Imax on Sept. 5, 2025.
The yet-to-be titled fourth film in the supernatural horror franchise comes as Warner Bros. and New Line’s “The Conjuring” universe has expanded to include prequel, sequel and spinoff titles like “The Nun,” “Annabelle” and “The Curse of La Llorona.”
Directed by James Wan and produced by Peter Safran, 2013’s “The Conjuring” established the franchise’s mythology, following paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. The film was a massive hit, nabbing $319 million worldwide. The franchise’s top-grossing movie to date is the 2018 prequel “The Nun,” which followed Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as she fended off the possessed demon nun Valek in 1952 Romania. The film earned $366 million worldwide.

I love The A-Team (which we also covered on an episode of Gone But Not Forgotten). I grew up watching the series and had the toys, the Mr. T Cereal, the whole bit. I wasn’t unlike many of my Gen X brothers and sisters in that regard. It was fun, insane, action-packed, and Murdock was my guy.
Over the last few decades, we’ve seen many of these 70s and 80s TV series be redone as feature films or new series for television. The Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, and the list goes on and on. Typically these films are done as just pure comedy. There are the two I just mentioned plus Land of the Lost…and in the case of these three they didn’t stick the landing.
But sometimes, you get a filmmaker and a group who know the assignment and decide to try and...
