Marvel has likely never gotten as close to Prestige TV as it did with the Disney+ series WandaVision. The compelling emotional story, exceptional performances, and slow-burning twists and turns earned it a reputation that elevated the show above other popcorn superhero fare. Now the star of WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen, is joining a pilot for FX called Seven Sisters, which is being penned by Succession writer and producer Will Arbery, according to Deadline.
The story of Seven Sisters is one of a large, tight-knit family that begins to unravel when a sister (Olsen) starts communicating with a voice no one else can hear, forcing each of them to confront long-buried secrets. This project also reunites Olson with director Sean Durkin, whose award-winning feature directorial debut,Martha Marcy May Marlene, starred Olson in her movie debut. Post Malone and Zach Top don’t seem like they would pair well together as their styles are completely different. Zach has historically been praised for reviving a traditional country sound into mainstream country music. Post Malone is known for his tattoo and transition from pop into country. However, Malone often collaborates with many big pop country stars and some country music legends. Zach and Malone agreed to collaborate on a classic country music song.

Post Malone often pays tribute to country music legends. He has covered Hank Williams and George Straight, as well as recording collab projects with many others. Post jumped into country music at a time when many pop stars were transitioning to the genre, however, his music quickly set him apart from other country converts. “A Complete Unknown” follows a young Bob Dylan’s rise to fame. Timothée Chalamet, who depicts the rock-folk artist in James Mangold’s film, insisted on singing live and learning to play guitar to authentically portray the music legend.
Following the success of his Academy Award-winning Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line,” the director was confident that the cast and crew of his new film could support live vocals. All of Bob Dylan’s vocals were performed live by Chalamet, as well as Edward Norton’s for Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro’s for Joan Baez and Boyd Holbrook’s for Johnny Cash.
The 140-minute film is filled to the brim with music, highlighting the careers of Dylan as well as his influences Seeger, Barbaro, Cash, Woody Guthrie and more. With over 70 songs on the soundtrack, the film tracks Dylan’s sprint onto the folk music scene and culminates in his then-radical shift to “go electric.

While James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown spotlights mainly the life of Bob Dylan (portrayed by Timothée Chalamet), the lives of several other musicians intertwined with the iconic troubador’s. His visit to Woody Guthri (Scott McNairy) and Pete Seeger (Edward Norton) proved formative in his career and rise as a folk musician.
Later, Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and Johnny Cash (Boyd Holbrook) came into the musician’s orbit as did Bob Neuwirth (Will Harrison). All Bob Dylan vocals in the film were performed by Chalamet, and the same goes for Edward Norton’s Pete Seeger songs, Monica Barbaro’s portrayal of Joan Baez and Boyd Holbrook’s Johnny Cash.

Dusty & Stones stands out as a moving exploration of identity and aspiration in music documentaries. The film, which Jesse Rudoy directed, follows the journey of cousins Gazi “Dusty” Simelane and Lindokuhle “Stones” Msibi as they negotiate the complexities of the country music genre, which is frequently characterized by its American roots.
The sounds of American icons like Hank Williams and Dolly Parton are ingrained in Dusty and Stones’ childhood in the small town of Mooihoek. Still, their lives pose a philosophical question: how can someone find their voice in a world that pushes it to the edges?
The weight of their heritage and the dreams of their community rest on their shoulders as they step onto the stage in Nashville. The film makes us think about the fragility of dreams and the authenticity of light, mirroring the complex dance of light and shadow that makes up our existence.

Ever heard the saying, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet?” Well, Post Malone, born Austin Richard Post, might just be the living embodiment of this quote.
Imagine a world where you’re known by one name—and that name is on everyone’s lips. It’s the name that blares from your speakers, rings through your headphones, and even makes its way into your daily conversations. That’s the power of the name Post Malone.

You’ve probably jammed to his hits like Circles and Rockstar, or caught a glimpse of his tattoos and hoodie-clad figure at some point. But how did Austin Richard Post—a kid from Grapevine, Texas—morph into the larger-than-life star that commands arenas and has you humming his tunes even when you don’t want to?...

By any measure, Cain’s Ballroom should be too small for Charley Crockett.
But on a sweltering August night — when the Oklahoma heat and humidity gave the air conditioning system of Tulsa’s timeless honky-tonk a battle for the ages — Crockett didn’t get caught up with the size of the venue. He looked back at the sold-out dance hall, with all its history, and let himself get caught in the moment.

Netflix's endearing documentary Will & Harper, is accompanied by the kind of solid music soundtrack to be expected from a buddy road-trip movie. Will & Harper features the mercurial Will Ferrell and his comedy writing partner Harper Steele, as they travel 3000 miles across the US to mark Steele's gender transition and test America's heartland's response to it.
In 2020, Andrew Steele, former Saturday Night Live head writer, challenged long-term friend and collaborator Will Ferrell when he revealed that he was officially re-gendering as Harper. That revelation prompted Ferrell to propose a road trip during which he could examine his own response to his friend's transition, and learn about Harper's lived experience out in the real world. The soundtrack to Harper & Will is suitably eclectic, mirroring the range of emotions the pair go through on their journey.

Many country fans fully believe that there is ongoing bad blood between Hank Williams Jr. and Garth Brooks. This is based on a quote that many believe came from Hank Jr. badmouthing Brooks. So, did Williams Jr. really say what people think he said about Garth Brooks?
Hank Williams Jr. Has Had A Successful Music Career
When your dad is Hank Williams, and considered to be one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th century, those are some big boots to fill for anyone. Luckily, Hank Williams Jr. has been up to the task over the years. Despite being pushed to follow in his father’s footsteps early on, Hank Jr. found ways to distinguish himself, and carve out his own niche outside of his father’s large shadow.
When you come from, essentially, the stock of country royalty, it can be a tough thing for some people to live up to.

The key to any good road movie is a great soundtrack, and “Will & Harper” does not disappoint. The new Netflix documentary chronicles a two-week roadtrip across the United States with Will Ferrell and Harper Steele, and throughout the hilarious and emotional journey, a killer lineup of songs plays.
Steele was a writer on “SNL” and worked with Ferrell on his weirder films and projects (like that Lifetime movie with Kristen Wiig), and Steele transitioned during the pandemic. Ferrell proposed they take a road trip together, during which Steele welcomes the opportunity for Ferrell to ask a number of questions about her transition while also venturing into potentially dangerous situations (like dive bars in Oklahoma) knowing Ferrell has her back. It’s sweet and emotional, but also feels truly important and potentially life-changing for many.

Regarding the book title, Dolly said: “There’s an old Hank Williams song called ‘Hey, good lookin’ – what ya got cookin’? How’s about cookin’ somethin’ up with me?’ And we always sing that when we’re in the kitchen. And anybody would show up, anybody in the kitchen would sing that. So when we were talking about putting the book together, we thought,...

The Forrest Gump soundtrack features iconic songs from a wide variety of music artists, including Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The movie chronicles the life of the title character, a warm-hearted man from Alabama who takes a tour of 20th-century American history. Throughout his travels, he fights in the Vietnam War, meets a handful of U.S. presidents, invests in Apple on the ground level, and exposes the Watergate scandal. Along the way, Forrest Gump uses needle drops on its soundtrack to reflect the changing times.
Some songs on the Forrest Gump soundtrack are used to establish the period setting, like Jimi Hendrix and Buffalo Springfield underscoring scenes of the Vietnam War, while others are more integral to the plot, such as when Elvis sings one of his biggest hits to show off the dance moves he learned from Forrest. The soundtrack of Forrest Gump was a...

Taxi Driver and Raging Bull screenwriter Paul Schrader talks about his "awe" towards Taylor Swift, the current state of the industry, and how his Frank Sinatra film failed to get off the ground.
Paul Schrader has had a prolific career. From working with Martin Scorsese on films like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull to directing his own films starting back in 1978 with Blue Collar, he's earned his recent lifetime achievement award from the Bosnian fest back in 2022. His films often deal with the struggles of men facing existential crises. He's also experienced as a film critic, and his opinions praising films like Oppenheimer and slamming films like Mission: Impossible 7 have gained some attention. His work is highly regarded, with his 2017 film First Reformed netting him an Academy Award nomination.

Paul Schrader might not be a Swiftie, but the veteran screenwriter-director admits that he’s in “awe” of the pop megastar.
“It’s not so much the music that entrances me, it’s the phenomenon. The Elvis-ness of it all,” Schrader told Variety. “You have to look in awe at how well she and her people have created this empire.”

Back in 2021, Post Malone turned the heads of country-music fans when he covered two songs on the opposite ends of the country spectrum during an online telethon: Brad Paisley’s radio hit “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and Sturgill Simpson’s underground favorite “You Can Have the Crown.” Malone, a pop superstar who has been teasing his country fandom as far back as 2015, delivered the tunes with traditional twang and rough-edged vibes, suggesting a genuine affinity for and deep knowledge of the genre. Right up there with Marty Stuart, Chuck Mead is one of the torchbearers of neo-traditional country music, that punky, jangly, and twangy sound that helped revitalize Nashville in the Nineties. To paraphrase George Thorogood and Hank Williams, move over old dog, a new hot dog is movin’ in: Patrick Bertoletti has won the this year’s Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, succeeding the 16-time champ Joey Chestnut who was spit out of the competition after signing an endorsement deal with Nathan’s rival Impossible Foods.
Bertoletti, a 26-year-old Chicagoan, took the Nathan’s men’s title – aka the Mustard Belt – today by eating 58 hot dogs in 10 minutes. See video below.

This weekend marked the kickoff of the 2024 “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” (get tickets here), and though fans didn’t get to see Willie Nelson (who had to cancel his set “per doctor’s orders”), they did get to see Bob Dylan pull a wonderfully Bob Dylan move by playing an all-new set of ‘50s covers and recent deep cuts.
Dylan’s performances on Friday and Saturday night marked the first time in a few years that Dylan has made major changes to his setlist, which has mostly been populated by cuts from his 2020 album Rough and Rowdy Ways, as well as older original songs.

Fremantle is to handle worldwide sales on country music feature documentary “Rebel Country,” which will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The film looks at a new breed of stars who are rewriting the rules and challenging the culture of country music. It explores the tensions of race, class, poverty, gender, sexuality and creativity versus commerce and geography that are prevalent in the U.S., while also acknowledging the musicians’ connection to Nashville’s rebellious roots.
“Rebel Country” is directed by Francis Whately, whose credits include “Five Years” and “Dolly Parton: Here I Am.” Executive producers are BMG, and Gabriel Jagger and Janet Lee for WhyNow Studios.
Whately said: “I am excited to have ‘Rebel Country’ premiere in this current moment that the country music genre is experiencing. The musicians, noted music journalists, and historians included in the film help give a broad picture of the genre...

Bob Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways tour touched down Monday night at the Sanger Theatre in New Orleans. The venue is just a little under six miles from Lake Pontchartrain, which is probably why Dylan decided to break out the 1947 Hank Williams classic “On the Banks of the Old Pontchartrain” for the first time in his career. It was a tender rendition that he delivered in a remarkably clear voice.

Adapted from Larry McMurtry’s bittersweet 1966 novel of the same name by McMurtry and director Peter Bogdanovich, The Last Picture Show delineates the quiet, desperate lives of the citizens of Anarene, Texas, from November 1951 to October 1952. The film is a pure Janus-headed product of the New Hollywood. Bogdanovich pours the new wine of sexual frankness available to filmmakers after the inauguration of the MPAA ratings system into old bottles borrowed from the cellars of classic Hollywood cinema, namely those older films’ expressive visual grammar and obliquely suggestive dialogue.
As an erstwhile film critic and historian, Bogdanovich drew formal and technical inspiration from his years spent programming films from Hollywood’s Golden Age at MoMA. He also solicited advice from houseguest Orson Welles when it came to shooting the film in black and white, and employing long, unbroken takes rather than break up important scenes. As Welles reportedly put it:...

Today’s country artists love to namecheck icons like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings in their songs and during interviews. But sonically, they owe their greatest debt to Jimmy Buffett, whose tropical vibes, beachy imagery, and ocean escapism has shaped the last two decades of mainstream country. Buffett died Friday at 76, leaving an undeniable legacy that is still heard in the songs of country radio and warrants future induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

One could make -- and no doubt some resourceful Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have made -- a video about Loki (Tom Hiddleston) hooking up with different characters in the MCU using footage from Hiddleston's non-Marvel projects. The actor had a tragic affair with Rachel Weisz (Melina Vostokoff in "Black Widow") in "The Deep Blue Sea," played one-half of a pair of vampiric lovers along with Tilda Swinton (the McU's Ancient One) in "Only Lovers Left Alive," and starred as Hank Williams in "I Saw the Light," with the Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, playing the late country music legend's wife. Eventually, that started to change; Anderson split with composer Mark Mothersbaugh, found a new ally in French composer Alexandre Desplat, and the music choices were less immediately identifiable, not quite as conventionally hip, but still tasteful choices (think the use of Hank Williams in “Moonrise Kingdom,” The Bobby Fuller Band in “Fantastic Mr.
