Michael Wiese was a producer, director, author, and publisher.
After producing the highly popular "Hardware Wars" (a Star Wars parody), Wiese was an entertainment executive with Showtime and later Vice President of Vestron Video where he launched comedy lines with Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal and over 300 other videos. He was responsible for creating video lines for National Geographic, Smithsonian, NOVA, and PBS.
He oversaw Michael Wiese Productions (mwp.com) which published a line of over 140 professional filmmaking books (including The Writer's Journey, Shot by Shot, Directing Actors, Save the Cat, Cinematic Storytelling) that were used in the major motion picture studios and in over 600 film courses throughout the world.
For over 25 years, he presented filmmaking seminars for Kodak (at the Cannes Film Festival), The AFI, The International Film & TV Workshops, and many others throughout the world.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's, his search for healing took him from stem cell therapy to Amazonian plant medicine. His spiritual quests were documented in his films "The Sacred Sites of the Dalai Lamas" (Tibet), "The Shaman & Ayahuasca" (Peru), and "Talking with Spirits" (Bali).
While he lived his final years in Cornwall, England, with his family, he wrote his memoir "Onward & Upward - Reflections of a Joyful Life," which was published in 2013, ten years before his passing in March 2023.
