HBO is still in the Game of Thrones business, for at least the next few years. It was revealed on Tuesday that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel series set in Westeros, is slated to hit television screens in 2026.
According to new reporting from Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery global streaming chief Jb Perrette told attendees at a tech and media conference hosted by Wells Fargo that the story of Dunk and Egg will arrive in Summer 2026. Forget about Tom Hardys roles as the investigative journalist who unwillingly bonds with an alien symbiote, the old-school leader of the Vandals motorcycle club, or a post-apocalyptic road warrior. In the film Locke, you can go ahead and reimagine him as construction foreman Ivan Locke, a simple individual with a clear mission in mind. More importantly, this intimate role from nine years ago shows that Hardy even when its in a very tight and enclosed space can brilliantly hold an audiences attention.

Alas, the end of 2024 is drawing closer, and another Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, waits in the wings of 2025.
This particular prequel is an exciting prospect for the keen and savvy book readers out there.
Given what we know of the books, Max’s latest outing (Max is on a roll heading into 2025) should easily develop into a multi-series story.

There are three books in the Dunk and Egg series (the nicknames given to two of the story’s primary characters), and their story is set some hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones.
In fact, Dunk (short for Duncan) interacted with one of the characters every Game of Thrones viewer is familiar with.

The second season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon wrapped up this past weekend, and we'll likely be waiting until 2026 for more episodes. However, HBO isn't going to let us go that long without another visit to Westeros. It's readying another Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, to air sometime next year.
Set decades after the events of House of the Dragon but decades before the events of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by author George R.R. Martin. This first, six-episode season is based on the first of those novellas, The Hedge Knight. Here's HBO's official description:

With the cameras rolling for close to a couple of months now, the Game Of Thrones prequel A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is most definitely underway ahead of its arrival on our screens next year. And following on from June's casting flurry, another bunch of additions have been announced, with Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Danny Webb all reporting for duty down Westeros way.
Those new arrivals join stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire, Egg.
As you'll no doubt know by this point, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is set roughly 100 years before the events of the parent show (and 100 years after the dragon-clashing conflicts of House Of The Dragon), and follows the two unlikely heroes as they wander the land. The official synopsis adds: "Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne,...

HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has announced seven more actors and the roles they’ll play in the Game of Thrones prequel / House of the Dragon sequel.
The casting news includes an actor playing Daeron Targaryen. That’s a familiar name — though not a familiar face — to House of the Dragon fans. But as is often the case in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world, there is more than one Daeron Targaryen, and this is not the same Daeron as the one in House of the Dragon.
The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Daeron will be played by Henry Ashton (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder). This Daeron, also called Daeron the Drunken, is the eldest son of King Maekar I Targaryen and is known for having prophetic dreams.
In Dragon, Daeron is King Viserys and Alicent Hightower’s fourth child, who has been kept offscreen in the series,...

Woody Woodpecker and Looney Tunes, though similar, are owned by different companies and exist in separate worlds. Created in 1940, Woody Woodpecker evolved in character design and multiple voice actors have brought him to life. In episode 3, Elena annexed the Faban Corridor, leading to international sanctions that badly impacted the economy.
"The Heroes' Banquet" also saw Elena falling out with her personal "butcher" Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts). Herbert is...

The Regime cast Kate Winslet as Chancellor Elena Vernham, the egotistical ruler of a fictional country. Warning: Major spoilers for The Regime episode 2 "The Foundling" below!
The Regime episode 2 explores Herbert's dark past, while the cabinet falsely claims he is a descendant of the nation's founder. The Regime pulls from the actual Three Brothers myth to explain "The Foundling" origin story. Elena also claims to be descended from the King of the Franks, Charlemagne.
The Regime episode 2 closes with the "Foundling" twist, but is the Three Brothers' story cited based on historical fact? The Regime casts Kate Winslet and Matthias Schoenaerts as Chancellor Elena Vernham and disgraced soldier Herbert Zubak respectively. Despite taking part in a shooting that left 12 protestors dead, The Chancellor has deemed Herbert worthy of redemption. Not only that, by the end of The Regime episode 1, Herbert has become Elena's closest advisor.
The second episode shows how much their bond has grown too, with Elena taking Herbert's advice on everything from home remedies to international relations.

The political satire series follows Kate Winslet’s Chancellor Elena Vernham as she becomes increasingly paranoid and unstable, turning to volatile soldier Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts) as her unlikely confidant.
Will Tracy, who worked as a writer on Succession, serves as the showrunner for The Regime and explained his elevator pitch for the series was “Downton Abbey but in an autocrat’s palace instead of an English manor house.”
“It’s an imaginary country, but it hopefully feels as though it’s taking place within a geopolitical reality that we would recognize, and that it says something about how foreign policy works and how these regimes thrive and operate,” Tracy told The Hollywood Reporter of the tone. “At the same time,...

"Anyone who dares insult me or my country shall feel my fury!" HBO Max has revealed the final official trailer for The Regime, arriving for streaming in March. Damn does this look wicked! The Regime is a new political thriller dark comedy series created by Will Tracy, now known as the writer of The Menu screenplay, working with British filmmaker Stephen Frears. The series stars Kate Winslet as the dictator of a fictional Middle European autocracy, following along as her regime begins to crumble and her power begins to wane. A twisted (and scarily quite real) story about how insane all these power hungry, autocrat politicians always are. The supporting cast includes Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Martha Plimpton, Guillaume Gallienne, Hugh Grant, and Danny Webb. This looks crazy! It's just barely at the border of crossing over into absurd territory and becoming a Mike Myers comedy, especially with bathtub TV scene.

Kate Winslet is striking fear into the hearts of her not-so-loyal subjects in HBO‘s The Regime teaser trailer. From Will Tracy and Frank Rich, the complex minds behind Succession, comes a limited series about power, corruption, and subterfuge.
The Regime “tells the story of one year within the walls of the palace of a modern European regime as it begins to unravel.”
“Since I became your Chancellor, we have grown considerably as a country. It is time to show America and the world precisely what we are worth,” Winslet’s Chancellor says in The Regime teaser trailer while addressing a crowd, asserting her authority. The vibes in the room quickly become hostile, eliciting fear and confusion about who’s in charge of the population’s wellbeing.

Kate Winslet plays a violent and oblivious dictator in the trailer for The Regime, an upcoming HBO satire series. When she last headlined a series for the prestige cable channel, Winslet garnered waves of praise for helping to reinvigorate the tropes of the small town murder-mystery with Mare of Easttown, winning an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her lead performance as a local detective who can barely manage the competing strains of her professional and personal life.
The Oscar winner now takes on a very different kind of starring role, as seen in the trailer for The Regime, which was formerly known by its working title The Palace.
In the trailer, which was unveiled at the presentation of the rebranded Max streaming service, Winslet's character takes center stage. At one point, she asks that her people need to be respected, and in response, she's told that she needs to demonstrate credibility.

HBO and Kate Winslet’s fruitful creative relationship will continue with The Regime, a limited series set to premiere in 2024. The premium cabler released a teaser for the series Wednesday at a Warner Bros. Discovery press event.
Formerly titled The Palace, the series from Succession writer and executive producer Will Tracy tells the story of a year inside the palace of a “modern European regime” as it starts to unravel. (That description is a slight tweak from an earlier logline that called the government in question “an authoritarian regime.”)
The teaser mostly focuses on a meeting between Winslet’s chancellor and a U.S. emissary played by Martha Plimpton. “We need you to demonstrate credibility to us — trustworthiness,” Plimpton’s character says.
“All we are doing is realizing our dream — our dream of a new Europe, without limits, without cruelty. There are times when one must choose the hardest road.

Kate Winslet is striving for more than just world peace as she sets her mind on crafting a “new Europe” as Madame Chancellor in HBO’s new political drama “The Regime.”
The official teaser, which was revealed during Warner Bros. “All we are doing is realizing our dream, our dream of a new Europe, without limits, without cruelty,” the chancellor says as she engages in, shall we say, less dignified actions to get her point across, including punching an unknown victim. “There are times when one must choose the hardest road; I have chosen...

Kate Winslet will suffer no fools in the new HBO limited series “The Regime.”
During Wednesday’s massive Warner Bros. Discovery information dump about the new streaming service Max (a rebrand of HBO Max that also includes Discovery content), the media company released the first trailer for the political satire from “Succession” writer Will Tracy.
