Universal’s “Kung Fu Panda 4” topped the U.K. and Ireland box office with £2.8 million ($3.6 million), according to numbers from Comscore. The film now has a total of £12.7 million after two weekends.

Also in its second weekend, Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” collected £1.9 million in second place for a total of £9.1 million.

In third place, in its third weekend, Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” added £1.3 million for a total of £12.1 million. In fourth position, in its sixth weekend, Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part II” collected £1.1 million for a total of £36.8 million. Universal’s “Monkey Man,” directed by and starring Dev Patel, debuted in fifth place with £810,253.

Wes Studi, Q’orianka Kilcher and Tatanka Means will star in “Canyon Del Muerto,” the new film from writer and director Coerte Voorhees.

The movie is based on the true story of one of America’s first female archaeologists, Ann Axtell Morris, who spent years uncovering civilizations in the southwest and Mexico. Axtell Morris was married to Earl Halstead Morris, who was a primary inspiration for Indiana Jones.

The film also stars David Midthunder, alongside previously announced Abigail Lawrie (who plays Axtell Morris), Tom Felton (as Earl), Ewen Bremner, Bronson Webb, Elias Koteas and Val Kilmer.

“Canyon Del Muerto” is shooting on location across the southwest and the Yucatan thanks to special Covid-19 measures and safety protocols in place. French film company Orange Studio has acquired international sales rights to Erwan Marinopoulos’ “Kill Ben Lyk,” an English-language thriller set in London and starring Eugene Simon (“Game of Thrones”), Dimitri Leonidas (“The Monuments Men”) and Bronson Webb (“The Dark Knight”).

TF1 Studio will release “Kill Ben Lyk” in France and Orange Studio is unveiling a promo to buyers at the American Film Market.

“Kill Ben Lyk” is the first project of Zorg Studios, which is dedicated to producing tightly-budgeted genre projects in English with actors who have a large following on social media and have either starred in big franchises or hit TV series.

The thriller — Marinopoulos’ directorial debut — revolves around Ben Lyk, a YouTuber who finds out that three unrelated people — a trader, cab driver and surgeon — who share his name have been murdered. The murders prompt Scotland Yard to gather up the eight remaining people named Ben Lyk...

Last weekend's winner, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 dominated during its opening weekend at the box office with $101 million, although that tally was the lowest debut of all four movies in the blockbuster franchise. Several analysts wondered if it will be dethroned already in its second weekend in theaters, facing three new releases over the holiday weekend, Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Warner Bros.' Creed and 20th Century Fox's Victor Frankenstein, all of which opened on November 25, in lieu of the Thanksgiving holiday. As expected, Box Office Mojo reports that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 dropped almost exactly 50% in its second weekend, taking in $51.6 million, which was surprisingly enough to overtake The Good Dinosaur.

Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, which opened in 3,749 theaters, was expected to take in $60 million in its opening weekend, but it only earned $39.1 million, debuting in second place behind The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2's $51.6 million.

Just like its predecessors, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 dominated during its opening weekend at the box office. However, it debuted with a franchise-low $101 million, and many are wondering if it will be dethroned already in its second weekend in theaters, going up against three new releases, Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Warner Bros.' Frankenstein is set for release 16 January 2015 and they’re shooting the movie in the UK right now. Reader Christopher Heaney (@darthelvis) has informed us that they’re shooting at the Manchester Town Hall and has uploaded a number of revealing shots to his Flikr account.

The period piece looks absolutely fantastic equipped with huge dresses and numerous top hats and the set decoration looks like it’s come straight out of diagon alley. You can also see Radcliffe sporting a new rather long haircut.

The weird quick turnaround time-lapse between hyperbole and backlash that we have seen plague our blockbusters this summer can be traced back to this film. Luis Prieto’s British made update of Nicolas Winding Refn’s 1996 film, Pusher, received its world premiere at last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival, and now the gripping, adrenaline fuelled ride, which is by far one of the most exciting British crime thrillers in recent years comes to DVD and Blu-ray.

Frank (Richard Coyle) may just be London’s most unlucky drug dealer. After a deal goes horrendously wrong, he finds himself owing a ruthless Serbian crime boss over £55,000. In a desperate search for money, Frank soon finds his life spiralling out of control and relationships with those around him beginning to crumble.

This annual event began February 1st and February 2nd offered Luis Prieto's Pusher. This title is a remake of Nicolas Winding Refn's (Drive) original film of the same name. Both films deal with a drug dealing and drug using character named Frank (Richard Coyle). Other characters such as Flo (Agyness Deyn) and Tony (Bronson Webb) can act as an anti-thesis to this central character, but Frank is consistently leading the action. Flo is the romantic interest, who seems to care more about Frank than he does himself. All of these characters create an entertaining time in a well shot London backdrop. Frank is a low level drug dealer with aspirations. An old cellmate, who Frank barely knows, wants to buy a kilogram of cocaine.

Despite what many movie fans might tell you, remakes are not inherently evil. Some movies had good ideas but couldn’t execute them properly, some could use a facelift, and some were great the first time but simply fell victim to the studio’s desire to cash in. Remakes have a bit of a tough road. First off, the they need to do what any movie needs to do: put together a good story and good performances with good cinematography. These are simply the basic building blocks of good films. But a remake has baggage, it has people’s expectations hoisted upon it. Pusher is perhaps the closest thing we’ll ever get to a Grand Theft Auto movie. That might be doing it a disservice, but the original Danish film (from 1996), directed by Nicolas Winding Refn has stood the test of time to remain one of the strongest pieces of crime cinema I’ve ever seen. Refn has since gone on to direct the incredible Bronson, Drive and Pusher sequels and has begun an ascension to the A-list annals of Hollywood.

Push It Real Good: Prieto’s Glossy Facelift of Refn’s Cult Classic an Empty-headed Bauble

Spanish filmmaker Luis Prieto makes his English language debut with a remake of Nicolas Winding Refn’s 1996 landmark first feature, Pusher, a ballsy move, considering the original is a veritable cult classic and a story which Refn turned into a trilogy and has gone on to influence a new generation of filmmakers. And while Refn himself gave his blessing, and is actually an executive producer on the project, Prieto doggedly pursues the exact same trajectory as the original, replacing the gritty aesthetic with style, gloss, and models. Drug dealing in the London streets never looked so fanciful and glam rock as it does here, and when it comes time for the violent stripe of degradation to rear its head, there’s no bite, no tension, and no feeling.

It was the book that defined a generation, but On The Road has taken several more generations to get to the screen, which dissipates the energy somewhat. Added to which, Jack Kerouac's hip prose was never exactly movie-friendly. This is appropriately scenic, sweaty, druggy and ambisexual, but for all the forced bohemian zeal, the road feels rather long and flat. And what once passed for creative hedonism now looks more like male self-indulgence, which is never much fun to watch.

Nicolas Winding Refn's sensational La thriller Drive made him a major player, and perhaps as a result of this, his gritty 1996 debut, Pusher, has been remade in English, transplanted from Copenhagen to London. The result is not half bad. In the original, Frank (Kim Bodnia) is a dealer (the more obviously derogatory word "pusher" is oddly never used), who gets a very large amount of cocaine on account from scary Balkan bad guy Milo (Zlatko Buric) on the understanding that he can sell it easily and give Milo a substantial cut. But the deal goes horribly wrong and Frank is left with neither the drugs nor the money, and the panicky certainty that if he can't get some cash together in the next few days, Milo is going to kill him.

1996’s Pusher launched the career of director Nicolas Winding Refn, and was followed by two sequels in the early 2000s. With some recurring characters but differing leads in each of the trilogy’s films, the first in the series concerned a man growing increasingly desperate, over the course of one week, after a botched exchange leaves him in massive debt to a ruthless drug lord. Refn is credited as an executive producer for Luis Prieto’s UK remake, which relocates the action from Copenhagen to East London. The location is all too familiar for British crime dramas, and the feeling of familiarity is additionally strong with Pusher 2012’s almost carbon copy recreation of the original’s own cliché narrative, which was never that film’s strongest asset.

Luis Prieto’s remake of Pusher starts out in what may be the worst way possible – a credit sequence that introduces the films lead characters by name.

It’s a reference to the original film, but it just doesn’t work. It’s too TV, it seems wrong for a feature film, giving the audience the impression that the creative team either don’t trust the audience to figure these things out on their own, or were too lazy to work these minor details in naturally. Fortunately, after that minor niggle, the film gets a lot better fast.

Before director Nicolas Winding became a big name in Hollywood with Brosnan and Drive, he made his debut in 1996 with Danish crime drama Pusher, about a mid-level drug dealer whose life spins out of control after a drug deal goes bad, and he ends up owing alot of money to some very bad people. Now it's getting remade again, this time in English, with Luis Pietro at the helm, Grabbers' Richard Coyle in the lead role, and Refn himself taking executive producer duties. A new trailer and poster for the British remake of Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn’s Pusher have been released. The film centers on Frank, a drug dealer (Richard Coyle) who gets busted by the cops and has to throw away his product. When he returns to the mob boss (Zlatko Buric reprising his role from Refn’s trilogy) without the unsold drugs or the money to pay for them, Frank frantically tries to find a way to repay the mobster. Starring Richard Coyle in the lead, the English-language remake of Nicolas Winding Refn’s acclaimed Pusher will be hitting theatres next month, and after seeing the UK poster and trailer land back in February, the Us versions of each have now made their way online.

Both are pretty much identical (the trailer, especially), but until now we haven’t known the film’s release date, and now Radius/TWC have set it for a VoD release next weekend on 28th September, followed by a theatrical release on 26th October in the Us.
