Disney has released two international posters for Cars 3, which show Lightning McQueen squaring off against two young racers Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) and Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer). While Jackson Storm becomes his most contested rival on the Piston Cup circuit, Cruz Ramirez is actually on Lightning's side, serving as his new trainer to help him beat the young upstart. The first poster teases a scene we've previously seen in early concept art, which may be an homage to an iconic movie.

Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3 reveals key voice cast and characters, featuring award-winning stars. Pixar's Cars franchise isn't my favorite, but the kids love it, and it has grossed over a billion dollars at the box office. So, would it come as a surprise to hear that they might be developing a third movie? According to Michael Wallis, who has worked as an historical consultant and voice actor on the two previous movies, they are. While doing a radio interview with with Wgbz in Alton, Il he let the details slip, saying,

Michael Wallis, who has provided voice work on Pixar's two "Cars" films so far, has revealed that a third film in the series is in the works.

Giving a radio interview with Illinois station Wgbz, Wallis said: "Cars 3 we’re coming back to the road. And we’re coming back to 66 into 99. That’s the road that runs right through Central California."

Wallis is also a historical consultant and recently authored the book "Route 66: The Mother Road" so knows quite a bit about that subject matter.

Neither Pixar or Disney have officially made any suggestion of a third "Cars" film at this point, aside from a comment by Disney's Bob Iger of an unnamed "sequel" besides "Finding Dory" being in the works for release some time in the next few years.

Pixar may have changed the face of film-making in the 1990s and ushered in a brave new world of CGI animation, but it could do with a top-up of critical goodwill. With Cars 2 we finally have the first Pixar film that I’ll have no trouble skipping this summer. Directed by John Lasseter and Ratatouille producer Brad Lewis, this aims to be going straight from the lucrative child demographic and little else, unlike their other animated masterpieces. After a few trailers, we have the final theatrical one and it doesn’t seem to be showing us anything different. We do get a greater glimpse at the global locales, which certainly seem to be captured nicely, but I just can’t connect with the humor. A new TV spot for Cars 2 has arrived for the Disney.Pixar film opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on June 24. At WonderCon over this weekend, Walt Disney Studios had a car featuring the Twitter handle @ChromeLeaks parked outside the Moscone Center that sent fans to the URL cars-n-deals.com. The spot is a faux advertisement for .Cars N. Deals of Emeryville. directed by Chris Cantwell (the same guy who directed the Lots-o-Huggin. Bear faux ad last year for Toy Story 3).

The spot features subtle hints about the upcoming Cars 2 and even has a working phone number. Also, hidden within the ad (the 57-second mark) is a URL for an exclusive clip of Cars 2 as seen below.
