Disney has released two international posters for Cars 3, which show Lightning McQueen squaring off against two young racers Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) and Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer). While Jackson Storm becomes his most contested rival on the Piston Cup circuit, Cruz Ramirez is actually on Lightning's side, serving as his new trainer to help him beat the young upstart. The first poster teases a scene we've previously seen in early concept art, which may be an homage to an iconic movie.
BadTaste.it debuted these posters, the first of which shows Lightning McQueen on the beach. You may recall that, back in May, Disney revealed concept art that showed Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez racing on the sand, which may or may not be an homage to the iconic oceanside race between Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in Rocky 3. The second poster, however, is set at a packed racing arena,...

Miss Fritter (voice of Lea DeLaria) loves the smash-and-crash life of demolition derby. A local legend at the Thunder Hollow Speedway, Fritter’s formidable school-bus size is intimidating, but it’s her smoke stacks of doom, razor-sharp stop sign and crazy collection of her victims’ license plates that usually steers her opponents in the other direction. ©2017 Disney•Pixar. A lot of familiar faces will be rooting Lightning McQueen on this summer. Disney-Pixar announced, today, the arrival new castmembers joining Cars 3, old and new. Find out who they are!
The last time Disney-Pixar checked in, it was to introduce Armie Hammer and Cristela Alonzo to the cast of Cars 3. Today, they announced three more stars lending their voices to the animated feature.
Kerry Washington (ABC’s “Scandal,” HBO’s “Confirmation”) lends her voice to Natalie Certain, a highly respected statistical analyst who knows her numbers. Book-smart and mathematically gifted, Certain may earn top marks in her ability to evaluate a racer’s stats, but she could be underestimating the importance of determination.
Nathan Fillion (ABC’s “Castle,” ABC’s “Modern Family”) voices Sterling, a brilliant businesscar who runs Rust-eze Racing Center—one of the most successful elite training facilities in the country. The always dapper Sterling comes...

Michael Wallis, who has provided voice work on Pixar's two "Cars" films so far, has revealed that a third film in the series is in the works.
Giving a radio interview with Illinois station Wgbz, Wallis said: "Cars 3 we’re coming back to the road. And we’re coming back to 66 into 99. That’s the road that runs right through Central California."
Wallis is also a historical consultant and recently authored the book "Route 66: The Mother Road" so knows quite a bit about that subject matter.
Neither Pixar or Disney have officially made any suggestion of a third "Cars" film at this point, aside from a comment by Disney's Bob Iger of an unnamed "sequel" besides "Finding Dory" being in the works for release some time in the next few years.
The "Cars" films are the worst reviewed franchise released under the Pixar brand, yet they are also amongst...

Pixar may have changed the face of film-making in the 1990s and ushered in a brave new world of CGI animation, but it could do with a top-up of critical goodwill. The rumours that Cars 3 might be entering production soon are more likely to have fans – or at least anyone over the age of nine – spluttering in dismay.
Michael Wallis, an expert on America's iconic Route 66 and the voice of Sheriff in the previous two Cars movies, told Wgbz radio in Illinois that the next film in the series will return to Lightning McQueen's adopted hometown of Radiator Springs. That means a return to Route 66, which runs through the small isolated town, and a visit to another famous real-life road,...

Pixar's impeccable record has a blemish, and that blemish is the "Cars" franchise. The two films are not only some of the lowest-grossing at the box office, but also have the most negative reviews. "Cars 2" actually has a 39% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, the only film to be below 70%. But "Cars" happens to be incredibly lucrative when it comes to merchandise revenue. Back in 2011, the franchise surpassed "Star Wars" and "Toy Story" in sales, breaking the $10 billion mark. It's clear that "Cars" movies are basically commercials for "Cars" toys. Which is why it's not surprising that Pixar is moving forward with a third installment. According to Michael Wallis, who worked on both "Cars" movies as the voice of the Sheriff, revealed that "Cars 3" is in the works. "'Cars 3,' we're coming back to the road. And we're coming back to 66 into 99," he said of the plot. "That's the road...

Remember how beloved the sequel to Pixar’s Cars was with critics? No? Well, remember how it made a whole bunch of money anyway? If not, you can be assured that it most definitely did, and since Pixar seems hellbent on destroying all the good will it had built among fans of quality animated films, they’re revving their engines and getting ready for a road trip back to their grove of money trees with Cars 3.

Tonight we have the return of football (even if it's only preseason football) and the months long passive aggressive comment war between the people who love football and the people who don't care for it much but insist on informing us that they don't care for it much Every Single Time it comes up. Listen, I get it. Some of you aren't football people and that's cool. We all have our preferences. Me? I hate mushrooms. And coconut. However, the football season is long and it only seems longer if you take every opportunity to remind us that you don't like football, usually in a way that implies that it somehow makes you smarter or culturally superior. Unless you can figure out a really clever way to say it, in which case dive right in. I will enjoy wit over originality any day. Here's your Thursday night TV:

Here is the final theatrical trailer for Cars 2, directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis. This trailer does little to increase my interest in this film, and really has nothing new to show. The trailer does not show much new footage, aside from a closer look at the various global locales.
Here's the Synopsis for the film:
Star race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race...

With Cars 2 we finally have the first Pixar film that I’ll have no trouble skipping this summer. Directed by John Lasseter and Ratatouille producer Brad Lewis, this aims to be going straight from the lucrative child demographic and little else, unlike their other animated masterpieces. After a few trailers, we have the final theatrical one and it doesn’t seem to be showing us anything different. We do get a greater glimpse at the global locales, which certainly seem to be captured nicely, but I just can’t connect with the humor. Check it out below via Apple, along with a poster from The Shiznit that seems to capture my feelings.
The large voice cast includes Owen Wilson, Larry The Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Jason Isaacs, Joe Mantegna, Peter Jacobson, Thomas Kretschmann, Guido Quaroni, Lloyd Sherr, Paul Dooley, John Ratzenberger,...

Sidenote – Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday is this Thursday, April 21st.

At WonderCon over this weekend, Walt Disney Studios had a car featuring the Twitter handle @ChromeLeaks parked outside the Moscone Center that sent fans to the URL cars-n-deals.com. The spot is a faux advertisement for .Cars N. Deals of Emeryville. directed by Chris Cantwell (the same guy who directed the Lots-o-Huggin. Bear faux ad last year for Toy Story 3).
The spot features subtle hints about the upcoming Cars 2 and even has a working phone number. Also, hidden within the ad (the 57-second mark) is a URL for an exclusive clip of Cars 2 as seen below.
Here’s the original “faux ad” that appeared on Mashable.
Hey, that’s pretty clever. Leave it to Disney-Pixar to hatch another brilliant marketing plan!
