Immediately after my 31 screening, Rob Zombie revealed how it only took a matter of seconds for his film’s wicked competition to materialize as an idea. This explains the chewy, undercooked nature of Zombie’s The Most Dangerous Game homage, which delivers buckets of grossness and a story that lacks a single spec of conviction. It’s death for death’s sake if you will, perverted by misogyny and told through rotting teeth. No one is safe, nothing is a sacred and life is belittled by Zombie’s bleakest endeavor yet, which is far from a pulpy-but-still-kinda-fun grindhouse experience. Think characters you don’t care about being hunted by villains you don’t understand – hate both the player and the game, you won’t be the only one.

"Nightmarish on every level." If you already hate carnivals, you might want to stay away from this. Saban Films has released a second trailer for Rob Zombie's latest horror feature, titled 31, about an evil carnival, twisted game. Five carnival workers are kidnapped and held hostage in a "Hell-like" compound where they must survive for 12 hours against a gang of sadistic clowns to escape alive. Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. I can't even tell what's going on in half of this trailer, way too many close-ups and it's over-edited. But if you dig Zombie's messed up horror flicks, then have at it. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster) for Rob Zombie's latest film 31, direct from YouTube: You can also still watch the first trailer for Rob Zombie's 31 here, for even more footage from this.

"All you have to do is survive 12 hours of our own private hell." Saban Films has debuted a trailer for Rob Zombie's latest horror film 31, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (but of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. Compared to The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over is a Criterion-bound masterpiece. Then again, compare anything to The Ridiculous 6 and I’m sure you’d mistake it for the second coming of Kubrick, so let’s be honest about The Do-Over – it’s not Adam Sandler’s worst, but that bar couldn’t sink any lower. Netflix has given the once-legendary comedian carte blanche, as Sandler tries desperately to win back his fanbase’s waning support – a gamble CEO Reed Hastings has to be questioning by now. The Do-Over is more survivable than expected, but Sandler just seems to be begging for help at this point, hoping social justice and David Spade can save him from yet another critically-ignored misfire.
In this identity-swapping “thriller,” Max (Adam Sandler) and Charlie (David Spade) decide to trade their shitty lives with two dead corpses who won’t be missed. Of course, Max doesn...

I haven't liked anything Adam Sandler has done in years, but he clearly has legions of fans that still love everything he does, because he's consistently one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood and his stuff — while often critically reviled — makes money. Since The Ridiculous Six was apparently a huge success for Netflix, I'm guessing they're pretty pleased with the multi-picture deal they made with him not too long ago, and now we have the teaser trailer for their second collaboration: The Do-Over.
Sandler reunites with longtime friend and former SNL co-star David Spade in this action comedy, which is described like this:

With Rob Zombie's upcoming film 31 taking place in a setting known as "Murder World", you can expect to find plenty of malevolent monsters (of the human variety) around every corner, as evidenced in the latest still from the film, which shows someone who looks like they came from Dr. Frankenstein's lab.

Shooting is just underway on Rob Zombie's crowd-funded horror 31, and with that comes a steady stream of casting updates. The latest to be revealed, in his third collaboration with the director, is Malcolm McDowell.31 stems from rocker-turned-director Zombie's interest in the (supposed) fact that more people go missing in the Us on Halloween than on any other day of the year. His plot revolves around five people kidnapped during the run-up to the spooky holiday, and held hostage in a facility called Murder World where they're forced to battle for their lives against an insane posse of "vile, bloodthirsty clowns called The Heads" (not to be confused with the Bristolian stoner spacerock band).McDowell, who played Dr. Sam Loomis (rather differently to Donald Pleasance) in both Zombie's Halloween films, will be essaying the part of Father Murder, the owner of Murder World. He's joined, as announced so far, by...

Rob Zombie's 31: Via his Instagram account, Rob Zombie revealed that Torsten Voges will play the villain Death-Head in his upcoming Halloween-set film, 31. Voges, who previously had a role in The Lords of Salem, is the first announced cast member for 31, which is currently available to fanback. For those unfamiliar with the film, here's the synopsis from Zombie:
"Welcome to my next film. It is called 31. It is the story of five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to...

Interview Duncan Bowles 13 Mar 2014 - 06:29
Duncan catches up with the star of Bullet and Machete to talk about stunts, dancing, and Miss Piggy...
The last but one answer in this interview has a slight spoiler for Muppets Most Wanted.
If there’s one thing I discovered from our chat with Danny Trejo, it’s that he laughs a lot. For an actor who’s made a career out of playing bad asses whose actions speak louder than words, it was a strange thing to hear him so openly chuckling – when our call was connected I asked how he was doing and he replied “Great, we were just talking about Mel Brooks and Blazing Saddles – probably before your time, but it’s really funny!” and what followed was one of the most entertaining interviews I’ve ever done.
We were lucky enough to get a good amount of Mr Trejo’s time,...

The Grand Budapest Hotel | 300: Rise Of An Empire | Wake In Fright | Paranoia | The Stag | Escape From Planet Earth
The Grand Budapest Hotel (15)
(Wes Anderson, 2014, UK/Ger) Ralph Fiennes, Tony Revolori, F Murray Abraham, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan. 100 mins
You wonder how long Anderson can keep accumulating star actors and creating ever more elaborate microcosms but, judging by this, he's a long way from running out of steam. It's a witty caper-within-a-reminiscence-within-a-flashback set in interwar Europe, through which Fiennes's debonair concierge must flee, protege lobby boy in tow, after an heiress's murder. It's breathlessly paced and breathtakingly designed, but with a solid core – like a fancy cake with an iron file concealed inside.
300: Rise Of An Empire (15)
(Noam Murro, 2014, Us) Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro. 102 mins
With the bar for violent historical silliness raised by Game Of Thrones, this sequel pitches recklessly into another orgy of fetishised classical warfare with comic-book effects.

Seasoned actor Danny Trejo has reinvented himself as the titular role in the Machete franchise, a series of films that ridicule B-movie, action flicks. However, despite evidently aware of the flaws and limitations of the genre, he’s now turned up in Nick Lyon’s Bullet, a film that is identical to those of which are being mocked in the aforementioned parody series.
When a dangerous criminal is on the verge of being executed by the death penalty, his father Carlito Kane (Jonathan Banks) is determined to put a stop to it – and so sets his sights on the law enforcer who arrested his son in the first place, which happens to be Frank Marasco (Trejo), a tough, uncompromising cop affectionately known as Bullet. With his trusty henchman Kruger (Torsten Voges) by his side, Kane kidnaps Bullet’s grandson, in the attempt to blackmail the cop – who has other plans up his sleeve.

At age 31, Cinematographer Brandon Trost is still considered a youngster in a racket that consists mostly of older men with flowing gray hair and/or unkempt artistic temperaments.
With over 70 titles on IMDb, the young cinematographer has paid more than his share of dues, working on gonzo film sets with gonzo talent (Crank: High Voltage, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). On each film, or at least once he climbed out of the indie trenches with the Crank sequel, Trost has added his own distinctive look to each film he has touched, regardless of the quality of source material. With the upcoming Townies and This Is the End, Trost is quickly becoming the go-to guy in Hollywood for cream of the crop talent in multiple genres, forging lasting friendships with directors and actors alike. One of the more fruitful relationships he’s forged is with writer/director Rob Zombie, a dream...
