Monique van de Ven was born on 28 July 1952 in Zeeland, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. She is an actress and director, known for Romeo (1990), Ademloos (1982) and Amsterdamned (1988). She has been married to Edwin de Vries since 1991. They have two children. She was previously married to Jan de Bont.

Was the guest of honour at the Dutch Film Festival 1997. She was there
decorated by the Queen of the Netherlands.
