Artists, tastemakers and executives converged in Kingston, Jamaica February 19 through 23, 2025 for the third annual Island Music Conference (Imc). Launched in 2023 by co-ceo’s Judith Ann Bodley and Sharon Burke, along with Chairman Orville “Shaggy” Burrell, the conference has quickly established itself as a premier hub for networking, music discovery, and critical discussions around the future of reggae and dancehall.
This year’s event, held primarily at Courtleigh Auditorium in downtown Kingston, brought together industry professionals for an array of panels, workshops and performances, offering both new and seasoned artists a chance to gain invaluable insights into the evolving music landscape.
The conference kicked off with a cocktail event Wednesday evening, followed by all-white dinner hosted by Shaggy. The “Boombastic” singer, who has long been a champion of dancehall reggae’s international expansion, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his role in the conference and why he felt compelled to be part of it.

Last year, a series called Black Cake was released on Hulu and Disney based on the New York best-selling book by Charmaine Wilkerson. The murder mystery thriller ended its first season after the finale debuted on December 6, 2023. Following the conclusion, there were some hopeful updates regarding the second season.

However, a year later, reports have been rife that the series won’t return for another season. Though the news is not surprising, as it’s been 10 months since the show’s first season ended, the reason isn’t quite valid. In this article, we will explain why the second season got canceled.

It might be too early to say that the "Frasier" revival is getting better. But after season 2, episode 5 brought back one of the best recurring characters from the original series, and with Peri Gilpin's Roz Doyle confirmed as a recurring guest for this season, things are certainly looking up for the show.
Star Kelsey Grammer has done his best to carry the modern incarnation of "Frasier," but he's thus far been hampered by a supporting ensemble that, try as they might, were never going to live up to the original series' excellent cast. As more characters from that beloved '90s sitcom return to the revival, however, the show has started to feel a bit more like the "Frasier" of old we all miss. It's bittersweet to recognize that the 2024 "Frasier" is only really good when it's more obviously pandering to our collective nostalgia, but that is, for better or worse,...

Dominic Orlando gets a special mention in the season 2 premiere of Amazon Prime's horror series Them, and for good reason. Them is a haunted house anthology show created for the streaming service, that first premiered in April 2021, with the subtitle, Them: Covenant. The second season, Them: The Scare, premiered a few years later in April 2024. Both seasons focus on Black families put into horrifying supernatural and sometimes disturbingly real situations. Created by Little Marvin, the series has earned mixed reviews across its seasons.
The first season of the show only has a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes but the second season has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Them: The Scare has the honor of opening with a dedication to Dominic Orlando, a writer for the series. Season 2, episode 1, "Are You Scared", is set in 1991 and centers on LAPD Detective Dawn Reeve (Deborah Ayorinde) who is assigned to a gruesome murder case that has...

Hulu is not proceeding with a second season of its original drama series Black Cake, starring Adrienne Warren and Mia Isaac. The news is not surprising as it’s been 10 months since Season 1 ended its run on the streamer.
This marks a formal resolution for the series, from Women of the Movement creator Marissa Jo Cerar, Oprah Winfrey‘s Harpo Films and Aaron Kaplan‘s Kapital Entertainment, whose fate had been sealed for months. It didn’t necessarily have to be — I’d heard chatter that Netflix was interested in picking up the acclaimed drama but the inquiry didn’t go far as program relocations from one major streamer to another are very rare — and complicated — in the era of streaming wars.
Netflix had been among the original suitors for the project, which landed at Hulu in 2021 after a bidding war.

“Black Cake” won’t be returning for a second season at Hulu.
The streamer has opted not to renew the series, based on Charmaine Wilkerson’s novel of the same name, for a second installment. The news comes just under a year after “Black Cake” debuted in November 2023.
Taking place across Jamaica, Rome, Scotland, England and Southern California, the generational saga centers on a runaway bride named Covey (Mia Isaac), who disappears into the surf off the coast of Jamaica and is feared drowned — or a fugitive on the run for her husband’s murder in the late 1960s, according to the official logline.
Her story is uncovered 50 years later in California when widow Eleanor Bennett (Chipo Chung) loses her battle with cancer and leaves her two estranged children, Byron (Ashley Thomas) and Benny (Adrienne Warren), a flash drive that holds previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America.

The official trailer for Frasier season 2 has been released. The trailer sees Frasier visiting the Seattle radio station from the original show and seeing his old friend Bulldog Briscoe. While the sitcom reboot has many new characters and adventures, the trailer reveals it is not afraid to embrace nostalgia.
The trailer for Frasier season 2 is a trip down memory lane for the lead character. The Paramount+ sitcom is a reboot of the Cheers spinoff show of the same name, which originally aired on NBC for 11 seasons between 1993 and 2004. The show follows Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) after he moves back to Boston from Seattle to become a Harvard lecturer and forge a better relationship with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott). The show's ensemble cast also includes Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, Anders Keith, and Nicholas Lyndhurst. All six stars will return in the upcoming Frasier season 2.

Introduction Adaptations of the works of Charles Dickens are numerous. Like ‘Shakespeare,’ if you can think of an alteration to the text, it has been done. Dickens' characters have sung, worn modern clothing, and even been played by muppets. FX in partnership with Hulu, has recently released their newest version of ‘Great Expectations’. The show sets up the classic story in an engaging way. Dickens’ penchant for poetry shines through Pip, the orphan who dreams of a better life. ‘Great Expectations’ follows Pip as he tries to rise in the social hierarchy. Young Pip is played by Tom Sweet. He combines a poetic and romantic disposition with an ambition that makes him stand out. He is raised by his cruel sister Sarah, played by Hayley Squires, and his kind brother-in-law Joe, played by Owen McDonnell. These characters not only give Pip a template to contrast himself with, but they also use him to their advantage.

Starz has revealed the trailer for Season 2 of “The Serpent Queen,” starring Samantha Morton. Featuring eight episodes, the second season of the historical drama series will return to the platform July 12.
Based on the book “Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France” by Leonie Frieda, the series details the life of the titular Queen Catherine (Morton), one of the longest-serving rulers in French history. She ruled the country for 50 years. The first season followed the young royal as she married into the 16th-century French court at 14 after being orphaned.
Catherine de Medici becomes the Queen Regent of France in the second season, as her son Charles IX has come of age. The trailer sees the royal try to avoid civil war in the country and going head to head with Queen Elizabeth I of England (Minnie Driver).
“Life is about what you’re willing to do to survive,” the Queen Regent states in the trailer.

Them's "Cat in a Bag" scene portrays violence against black people in the 1950s. The scene highlights real-world horrors faced by the Emory family before supernatural encounters. Creators and actors felt the scene was necessary to explore and depict the terror faced by black people.

Little Marvin hints at more eerie tales in store for Them, with a commitment to develop the project further. Star Deborah Ayorinde transitions from "Lucky" in Season 1 to Detective Dawn Reeve in Season 2 with confidence. Them's shift to the early '90s in Los Angeles reflects societal tremors post-Rodney King incident, unafraid to tackle racism.
Them creator Little Marvin recently shared hints about the future of his Prime Video horror anthology series. The show that masterfully combines supernatural elements with explorations of societal and racial tensions may just be gearing up for more eerie tales.
Speaking with ComicBook, Marvin expressed his commitment to continue developing the project, stating he is "a thousand percent" ready with ideas and hopes that Amazon is keen to support the series' growth. This comes at a crucial juncture for Them, as Amazon has only committed to the first two seasons thus far, and the...

Either in hindsight or by fantastic happenstance, there are moments in time when you can see an actor take on a role and own it so much that it changes the trajectory of their career. For Luke James, that role is undoubtedly Edmund Gaines in Prime Video's upcoming second season of Them, dubbed Them: The Scare. While he may have found success starring in shows such as Star and The Chi, in The Scare, James takes things to a whole new level by portraying a character with such depth in a disturbing fashion that it makes it hard to look away. King’s 1975 novel was first adapted for the screen with CBS’s 1979 miniseries starring David Soul.
“Salem’s Lot” is written and directed by Gary Dauberman (“Annabelle”). The new version will see Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) return to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot looking to come up with an idea for a new novel but discovers his hometown’s residents are becoming vampires.
The ensemble also features Alfre Woodard, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark,...

Prime Video's "Them" gets a second season as an anthology series, exploring LA's history in the 90s with a new twist and returning cast. "Them: The Scare" promises a gripping murder mystery in a chaotic 1991 Los Angeles. Now, the horror series from creator Little Marvin is returning for a second season with Them: The Scare, which turns the show into an anthology series in the same vein of American Horror Story, with the returning cast portraying a whole new crop of characters.

She’s a woman who grew up in an orphanage in London before moving to Southern California’s Orange County with her husband Bert.
