On Friday night, música mexicana band Grupo Firme surprised the crowd at their show in Austin with an unexpected special guest: Demi Lovato. Yes, you read that right. Lovato hit the stage with frontman Eduin Caz to duet their upcoming single, “Chula.”
Mid-set, Lovato, who is on the heels of back-to-back rock projects, joined the “Ya Supérame” group for the debut of their Spanglish, dance-pop collaboration, out Aug. 15. The track, which hears Lovato return to her pop roots, also laces some of Firme’s Mexican music elements.

The first order of business when Thalía and Becky G meet up at New York’s Power Station is what music the two pop stars are going to play in the background of their photo shoot. Quickly, the room decides on Bad Bunny, and within minutes, “Tití Me Preguntó” is pounding through the sound system, getting both artists dancing. Thalía’s voice suddenly pipes in for one memorable line of the song: “Mi primer amor se llamaba Thalía!” (“My first love’s name was Thalía!”) She and Becky burst into laughter.

Rolling Stone was founded in 1967 in San Francisco by a music critic and his 21-year-old protégé, a Berkeley dropout who borrowed money from his future in-laws to get it off the ground. For decades, Rolling Stone gripped tight to the beliefs and cultural blinders of that boomer beginning. Most of its rocker heroes from that Haight-Ashbury autumn were white and male, and those were the kind of people who stayed center stage at Rolling Stone. The misogyny and racism of that founding era lingered longer.

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga ditched the upbeat, electronic dance sound that made her popular to work with Bennett on jazz music, a genre she had been singing since she was a teenager. The New Yorkers first collaborated on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s 2011 release Duets II. The pairing was so perfect they went on to record 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, with Bennett and Gaga hoping to turn more kids to jazz music. “[Gaga] has a vast group of young people who love her, and they’ve never heard popular jazz music, classical American music … and my ambition was to do this...

Romeo Santos, the Bronx native considered the king of bachata, played the role of a drunk, scorned level at the Latin Grammys when he performed his hit “Bebo,” off his latest album Fórmula, Vol. 3.
He stumbled around the stage, which was littered with empty liquor bottles. He pretended to take sips from one and then jumped into the song. Accompanied by background singers and a guitarist who dominated his solos, Romeo ended his set with a little tumble to the floor to fully play into his role.

We've all been there: you're in a romantic relationship that isn't exactly the healthiest, and it eventually triggers your inner loca, or what men love to refer to as "psycho b*tch." Maybe they were unfaithful or treated you poorly, eventually breaking both your heart and your trust in them. You might have tolerated it for weeks, months, or even years until it drove you temporarily to lose your sh*t. This is exactly what Mexican singer and icon Thalía tapped into when she wrote her latest single, "Psycho B*tch," which dropped on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. Thalía managed to take an ugly reality and an exhausting stereotype - cause Latinas stay getting a bad rep for being spitfire locas - and turned it into something both humorous and empowering. It's relatable, to say the least.
"It's just that fun aspect of like don't push my buttons. You're going to find me.

As we watch Netflix's Selena: The Series, we really can't help but dance to all of the late Tejano star's greatest hits. "Como la Flor," "Amor Prohibido," and "No Me Queda Más" are some of Selena's most iconic songs, and they were actually written by someone very close to the singer's heart. Selena's brother and bassist A.B. Quintanilla is responsible for countless songs in her repertoire, from the band's early days as Selena y Los Dinos all the way to her biggest career successes.
Up until Selena's fifth and final studio album, Dreaming of You, an American pop crossover album that enlisted a new team to showcase her to the English-speaking market, A.B. was always her main producer and songwriter. Involved in every step of her music career, A.B. went from her accompanying bassist in restaurant gigs to penning songs that would eventually rise to the top of the charts.

Latin Grammy-nominated duo Mau y Ricky released a compact reggaeton-pop missile titled “22” on Friday. It’s the latest single from the Venezuelan brothers, who are slowly building their names as artists after penning songs for Ricky Martin, Thalía and others.
“22” opens with a touch of drama – a brief flourish of notes from violins. Mau y Ricky then build out the track with practiced patience, adding a spindly guitar riff, doubling that on the bass, and finally incorporating a springy, cracking beat. During the hook, the strings return, reinforcing the primary melody to great effect.

Tommy Mottola was the king of the music business for so long that he had his pick of any A-list star to perform at his 2000 wedding to Mexican singer and actress Thalía. He invited Donna Summer. “She’s my wife’s favorite singer,” Mottola recalls on a recent afternoon. “I didn’t tell my wife because I wanted to surprise her. Halfway through the dinner, ‘MacArthur Park’ starts playing. Donna then walks onstage. It was stunning. And then, of course, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan all got onstage, singing with Donna, doing background. It was a hell of an extravaganza.”

Marilu Henner is heating up Latin Night for her Dancing With the Stars partner Derek Hough. The pair is doing the Cha Cha set to "Echa Pa'lante" by Thalia, but there may be a little problem or a saving grace, either way it comes down to Marilu's legs. "Marilu's greatest asset is kind of her downfall in a way with having these beautiful legs because if they're not in the right place then you really see them," Derek says in the exclusive preview clip above. May we all learn from this and have wrinkle-free outfits. While en route to the Tony Awards, Thalía outsmarted many and got dressed when she was only two blocks from the venue. No wrinkles, no problems. The singer wore a hoodie as she placed her dress above it. Her husband Tommy Mottola filmed the entire situation for our viewing pleasure. "This behind-the-scenes video is second to none. So that the dress doesn't get wrinkled, I put it on when we were only two blocks away," Thalia captioned the video. Mexican actress/singer Thalia shocked everyone when she posted an Instagram video on Tuesday claiming that a jar of ribs were the ones she had surgically removed to maintain her small waistline. She had admitted a week prior on a Philippine news show that she had the procedure done -- or did she?
She wrote: "To all my loving Filipino fans, here is the proof I love [heart] My Famous Ribs, I kept them with me all these years And the Saga continues..... @Lovekrisaquino #Aquinoandabunda #Marimar #Myth #Thaliasribs #Thaliaswaistline #Thaliasnewnovela #Formalin #Souvenirs."
However, as it turns out Thalia has quite the sense of humor. Confessing that she was only kidding in a later Instagram post, she wrote:...

She’s always up for a good time, and Jennifer Lopez checked out a star-studded shindig in West Hollywood last night (December 5).
The “On The Floor” songstress was all smiles as she hopped into the passenger seat of her Rolls Royce while boyfriend Casper Smart handled the driving duties.
Jennifer had a blast at the Craig’s dinner party where celebrities like Leah Remini, Kristin Chenoweth, Thalia, and Tommy Mottola were on the guest list.
Meanwhile, it seems J. Lo is still in the middle of her divorce with Marc Anthony, and the only thing she’s seeking is to have her legal name changed back to Lopez rather than Marc’s real surname Muniz.

Nashville, Tenn. -- Behind Mariah, Michael and the constellation of stars at arguably the most successful record label in history stood a man who didn't often talk to the media or explain his motivations.
Now, a decade after leaving Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola tells his story in a new book, "Hitmaker: The Man and His Music." He apologizes for the fallout from his marriage to Mariah Carey. He explains the label's behind-the-scenes support for Michael Jackson as the singer's life and career took one strange turn after another. And he traces the arc of the music business as it evolved over the course of his lifetime – from Elvis to the iPod.
As a label executive, Mottola made it a point to stay out of reporters' notebooks. But as an author, he didn't shy from the topics longtime industry watchers are interested in – though he threw away two versions of...

In his new memoir "Hitmaker: The Man and His Music," Tommy Mottola apologizes to ex-wife Mariah Carey for his controlling behavior during their five-year marriage.
In the book, which hit bookshelves on January 15, Mottola acknowledges his overbearing ways, but asserts that his behavior paved the way for Carey's prolific music career. He writes, "No I did not hypnotize Mariah. No, I did not hypnotize her into selling 200 million albums. No, I did not chain her to the recording studio in the mansion we built after we were married. If it seemed like I was controlling, let me apologize. Was I obsessive? Yes. But it was also part of the reason for her success."
On Tuesday, the former head of Sony Music confirmed to "Today" show host Matt Lauer that "[the book] will be the first time" he has told the pop star that he's sorry.
"I have nothing but the greatest respect for her in the world,...
