Steven Thomas is an aspiring writer who volunteers at Lifeline, a suicide prevention crisis centre. First-time feature director Feras Alfuqaha and writers Brady Morell and Brian Price allow us to sit in with Thomas during his first few calls, giving us a glimpse into his demeanour and capabilities.
He’s calm, methodical, and competent, making it clear that while this might be new territory for him, he has the empathy and composure needed for the job. Everything seems routine until he receives a call from a young man who not only claims he is about to kill himself but also shares his name. At first, Steven assumes it’s his son, Jeff, pulling an elaborate and deeply inappropriate prank. But as the conversation unfolds, the...

It’s time for a new episode of the Real Slashers video series, and with this one we’re taking another look at one of my personal favorites, director Scott Spiegel’s 1989 film Intruder (pick up a copy of the unrated Blu-ray Here). I previously covered this movie with an episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw and Emilie Black wrote about it for Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie. Now it’s Tyler Nichols’ turn to dig into it, and you can find out what he had to say about Intruder by watching the video embedded above.
Scripted by Spiegel (who wrote Evil Dead II with Sam Raimi) from a story he crafted with producer Lawrence Bender, Intruder has the following synopsis: It’s 10 pm and the employees of Michigan’s Walnut Lake Supermarket are in for a really bad night. The place is shutting its doors for good,...

As they travel together to reach the perimeter, Freddie teaches Claire the skills that will enable Claire to survive, and the uneasy partnership between the two grows into something more akin to a father/daughter relationship. Before they can reach safety, the two will have to escape brutal gangs, cannibals, cults, and the undead.

"I will find a way, I will figure it out, I will help you - I promise!" Gravitas has released the official trailer for the indie drama Tyger Tyger, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Kerry Mondragon. This is described as a "pandemic fantasy-thriller" and/or "stylized indie drama". A selfless woman and her mute friend kidnap a drug addict after robbing a pharmacy then hit the road to distribute the "life saving" medication, but find themselves trapped in the fringe lands of a law-less psychedelic city in a life-or-death adventure. Sounds crazy! Love the poster art, but that's about it. Tyger Tyger stars Dylan Sprouse, Sam Quartin, Eden Brolin, Craig Stark, Max Madsen, and Barbara Palvin. This looks rather trippy and vibrant, not necessarily in a good way, but maybe there's something interesting going on here. Have a look. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Kerry Mondragon's Tyger Tyger,...

Quentin Tarantino is continuing to flesh out the cast of his latest movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. We recently got our first look at Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio together in costume as they were gearing up for production. Now, as things ramp up, the movie has added ten new cast members to help fully flesh out the massive ensemble. It sounds like most of these new additions will be playing relatively minor roles, though, most of their specific parts have not yet been disclosed.
The new cast members included Spencer Garrett, Martin Kove, James Remar, Brenda Vaccaro, Nichole Galicia, Mike Moh, Craig Stark, Marco Rodriguez, Ramon Franco and Raul Cardona. Garrett's character is the only one for which any specific details were revealed. He's set to play a TV personality and interviewer for the elite in Hollywood. Given what we already know about the plot, that seems to fit in nicely.

With Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie officially on board – who confirmed her involvement during a recent media junket – Quentin Tarantino has now turned his attention to filling out the remainder of the cast for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and boy, has he ever been keeping busy.
Last month, the two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker recruited Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis (Homeland), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds), before adding Best Actor winner Al Pacino a day later. Suffice it to say, Tarantino has undoubtedly lined-up an all-star cast for his ninth feature.
Long-serving collaborators Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen (Kill Bill) also joined the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and of course, Robbie, in June. And although it seemed like Tarantino had filled out the rest of his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ensemble, today brought word of even more talent joining the ranks.

As promised, I’m back writing again about filmmaker Quentin Tarantino’s eighth cinematic outing this week. Whenever a new movie of his opens, it’s really an event, so this is no exception. Of late, Tarantino has been getting the attention of the Academy, so this is definitely a high profile release. Buzz had been steadily building for months now, with folks especially excited for the 70mm roadshow version being unveiled in select theaters. I’ve seen and dug the flick a great deal, so it’s a pleasure to be able to speak more about how good this film is. I praised Bruce Dern’s work in it a few days ago, but now I’m gushing over the whole thing, as well as speculating about its Oscar prospects. Once again, this is Tarantino’s eight film, centering on a group of less than savory characters convening on a single location,...

On behalf of The Weinstein Company, we are excited to share a new featurette on Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), from their highly anticipated film, The Hateful Eight. Director Quentin Tarantino continues his long relationship with the actor, which started in 1994, when the pair first came together for Pulp Fiction. Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino have gone onto make six films together. And this may be their most ambitious work to date.
Set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as "The Hangman," will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter,...

Quentin Tarantino star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Also in the photo: Demián Bichir, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth and other 'The Hateful Eight' cast members. Quentin Tarantino gets star on Hollywood Walk Fame: No police protests or anti-Tarantino rally Quentin Tarantino, who has been making movies for nearly a quarter of a century, has finally gotten his own personal star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A prime location, too: it can be photographed and/or stepped on right in front of the Chinese Theatre. Tarantino's star-unveiling ceremony took place on Monday, Dec. 21, '15, with several cast members of his latest movie, The Hateful Eight, in attendance. Now, why is this “news”? Back in October, the Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Django Unchained filmmaker dared to attend an anti-police brutality rally in New York City – days after a local police officer had been killed while pursuing a suspected thief.

There are many, many things to like about Quentin Tarantino’s new film The Hateful Eight. A great deal of them are being talked about all throughout the industry by various writers, but one aspect of Tarantino’s eighth outing is being woefully neglected. What is that? Well, the supporting turn by Bruce Dern, of course. Is it the flashiest in the movie? No, but that’s not the point. Dern is one of the great character actors of the last half century, and seeing him really get to dive into a role like this and work with Tarantino is something special. In a flick that’s rarely understated, they manage something fairly subtle, so I figured that was worth appreciating a bit today. The film opens this week, so it makes perfect sense. For those unaware, this is, ironically enough, Tarantino film number eight, and centers around a group...

Quentin Tarantino‘s “Hateful Eight” premiere on Monday night was a surprisingly peaceful affair. Concerns about a police protest in response to the director’s recent controversial comments about cops were unfounded, as the event at the ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome in Hollywood went off without a hitch. Instead of battling a boycott, Tarantino hammed it up for the cameras on the red carpet with fellow filmmaker and “Inglourious Basterds” actor Eli Roth. Over the weekend, a special screening of The Hateful Eight was held at the Director's Guild of America in Los Angeles, which was followed by a Q&A with several of the cast members. Today we not only have the full 30-minute Q&A session, but The Weinstein Company has also provided us with a new Ensemble featurette from director Quentin Tarantino's Western. Ironically, Quentin Tarantino himself isn't present at the DGA Q&A, but cast members Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth and Bruce Dern shed new light on the production.

On Christmas Day, director Quentin Tarantino will roll out his eighth feature film, The Hateful Eight, in a limited "roadshow" presentation in 70mm. Fans will have two weeks to see this revenge Western in 70mm, before it debuts nationwide with digital projection on January 8. Fandango has released a seven-minute featurette that explains the importance of this 70mm presentation, and offers some history on the roadshow format, which hasn't been used for years.
One advantage of seeing the 70 mm roadshow is fans will get a longer cut of the movie than they'd see in the nationwide release. Quentin Tarantino revealed last month that the 70mm version will include six minutes of extra footage, a trademark of classic roadshow presentations such as Gone With the Wind, Ben-Hur and many more. We also hear from Samuel L. Jackson, who explains that the 70mm presentation gives viewers an image that is twice as large as a traditional movie.

Many movie fans are looking forward to December because of Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting theaters. There is another cross-section of fandom that is awaiting the holiday season for another reason, the release of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. Earlier today, a new poster was released from this revenge Western, and now we have even more details about the film's soundtrack. Film Music Reporter is reporting that Decca Records is releasing the soundtrack on December 18, with 28 tracks that includes music from composer Ennio Morricone and songs from The White Stripes, Roy Orbison and David Hess.
The soundtrack will include David Hess' Now You're All Alone from The Last House on the Left soundtrack, The White Stripes song Apple Blossom and Roy Orbison's There Won't Be Many Coming Home, which is from the 1967 movie The Fastest Guitar Alive, where the singer made his first and only film appearance.

The Weinstein Company has just released a brand new poster for their highly anticipated film, The Hateful Eight , written and directed by Quentin Tarantino! And in true Tarantino form, this latest theatrical one-sheet pays homage to the 70s thrillers and disaster films that the director loves. The top half of the poster shows us a scene from the climactic ending, with Samuel L. Jackson walking into a gun fight, weapons drawn. While the bottom half shows us images of each actor in this all-star cast. This was the typical style utilized in the 70s for any epic that held multiple marquee names. It's a fun throwback that everyone, including the Police, might enjoy!

The third trailer for The Hateful Eight arrives amidst much controversy, following anti-police statements made by Quentin Tarantino, which resulted in a boycott against the director, his movies, and the upcoming release of his latest Western. This new full-length sneak peek offers every incentive as to why you should still seek out his thrilling Old West tale, in select theaters this Christmas. It also teases the growing rivalry between characters played by Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell as they are locked up with strangers during a freezing blizzard.

It's been quite a week already for fans of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, with a new poster featuring Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh arriving on Monday, and the first trailer debuting today. The one-sheet was believed to be the first in a series, and, sure enough, today we have two more posters, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies and IMDb. The posters feature Walton Goggins as Sheriff Chris Mannix and Demián Bichir as Bob.
Don't be surprised if we see posters featuring the last remaining four of The Hateful Eight, Samuel L. Jackson's Marquis Warren, Tim Roth's Oswaldo Mobray, Michael Madsen's Joe Gage and Bruce Dern's Sanford Smithers. Given the amount of profanity and violence one normally sees in a Quentin Tarantino film, don't be surprised if a red band trailer surfaces sometime in the near future. Until then, we'll just have to wait...

The first full-length trailer for The Hateful Eight has arrived! And it promises a blood-soaked Western that will surely rival Quentin Tarantino's last movie Django Unchained. Like that film, it takes place in the 1800s and revolves around a very upset bounty hunter. The Weinstein Company is set to release The Hateful Eight in select theaters Christmas Day of this year, with an exclusive two-week roadshow opening in 70mm. Following the two-week engagement, the film will open with a digital theatrical release nationwide on January 8, 2016, while continuing to be shown in 70mm as well.
