While they’re both among the premier superhero teams of the Marvel Universe, Cyclops spells out the team’s greatest difference from their contemporaries, which goes a long way in explaining some of the darker actions the team has taken throughout their history.
Uncanny X-Men #8 by Gail Simone and Javier Garrón concludes the Raid on Graymalkin crossover, as both teams of X-Men battle to break free from the control of the powerful telepath Scurvy and rescue their captive teammates. When the X-Men are confronted by Warden Ellis and her guards, Cyclops remarks “..You have two teams of X-Men facing you now. And we’re not as nice as the Avengers.”

Last week, a new rumour claimed to reveal what Marvel Studios has planned for its next wave of storytelling: the "Mutant Saga." You can read more about that here, but the big news is it supposedly ending with an Avengers vs. X-Men movie.
We have no idea what Earth's Mightiest Heroes will look like in a post-Avengers: Secret Wars MCU but the X-Men will be rebooted. That gives Marvel Studios three Phases to establish that team before they go to war with the iconic superhero team.
The Avengers vs. X-Men comic is full of memorable moments but like Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and even Secret Invasion, we anticipate only certain moments or ideas being adapted to the big screen. It's those we're taking a closer look at here as we explore how they could help shape this epic big screen clash.

A brutal clash between Captain Marvel and Cyclops is kicking off a new war between the Avengers and X-Men, as the team leaders stop holding back. 2012's Avengers vs X-Men famously pitted Marvel's most powerful teams against each other, as Captain America and Cyclops fought over the future of new mutant Hope Summers. This time, the throwdown feels even more personal.
In a preview of Jed MacKay, Valerio Schiti, Federico Blee and Cory Petit's The Avengers #21, Earth's Mightiest Heroes march on the X-Men's Alaskan base. Captain Marvel leads the charge, calling out Scott Summers' Cyclops.
While the cover makes it clear that Cyclops vs Captain Marvel is the title bout, the issue's summary also teases Magneto vs Scarlet Witch, as well as forcing new Avengers recruit Storm to pick a side. The summary reads:

The X-Men vs. the Avengers is probably en route in the MCU, and Marvel Studios has just taken the first step toward it with the release of the What If...? season 3 trailer. Now that the X-Men have returned to Marvel's ownership after Disney acquired Fox in 2019, the iconic X-Men have started to appear in multiple MCU projects. This most recently culminated in Deadpool & Wolverine, where the titular heroes encountered various X-Men variants from Fox's X-Men franchise.
So far, this is the only X-Men-focused movie the MCU has produced, and no more are upcoming on the official MCU release slate. Recent comments by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, however, have reignited hope that the McU's next phase will center around the X-Men, who will likely be recast from the original movies, after a rumored soft reboot of the MCU. Outside its unique narrative and compelling plot, The Boys has captivated audiences by parodying and subverting hero tropes, while taking inspiration from the Marvel and DC universes. And the potency and genius of its satire takes the spotlight when it comes to its version of the X-Men, and the unforgettable changes made to the fan-favorite Nightcrawler.
One of the most captivating displays of subversion appears in The Boys #29, which focuses on the G-Men a satirical take on Marvel's The Uncanny X-Men. In one scene, Europa, a member of the G-Men's Beta team, G-Force, and a clear parody of Marvel's Nightcrawler, uses his teleportation ability to deliver a brutal sucker punch assassination of his former teammate, Dime-Bag, by seemingly teleporting his fist through the back of his head.

Marvel superheroes have had some memorable last moments on film. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) affirming one last time "I am Iron Man" before annihilating Thanos with a finger snap in "Avengers: Endgame." "Logan" has Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) dying a peaceful death with his heart in his hands, finally knowing the last answer all people receive: "So this is what it feels like." Remy LeBeau, currently deceased after the shocking "X-Men '97" episode "Remember It," stopped the completion of a mutant genocide by detonating the Sentinel that skewered him, giving his life with one last boast: "The name's Gambit — remember it!"
But while a handful of superheroes have died in the movies, many more have in the comics. Since the 1992 event "The Death of Superman," it's pretty much become a right of passage for any Marvel or DC character deemed important enough to receive a headlining death and then resurrection.

Heading into last month's San Diego Comic-Con, we'd hoped Marvel Studios might replace Avengers: The Kang Dynasty with Avengers vs. X-Men. Instead, we got Avengers: Doomsday and the news Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
It's a ballsy move on Marvel's part but not one which closes the door on Earth's Mightiest Heroes doing battle with mutants. An Earth-616/Earth-100005 Incursion looks increasingly likely and, when that happens, a fight is bound to ensue.
That isn't the full-blown Avengers vs. X-Men movie we'd expected, but a clash between the McU's greatest and Fox's iconic roster of X-Men is an undeniably enticing prospect. With that in mind, it's time to explore key moments from the comic books which need to be adapted by the Russos.
Marvel Studios will likely adapt very little of this story but that doesn't mean there aren't still some...

The following contains major spoilers for X-Men '97 Season 1, Episode 5, "Remember It," now streaming on Disney+.
One of the main concerns of X-Men '97 Season 1 is how much belief Professor Xavier's mutants have in mankind. No matter how many times these mutants save citizens and nations, people constantly turn against them. This anti-mutant sentiment continues to be explored through villains like the Friends of Humanity.
Episode 5, "Remember It," is poised to test the relationship between X-Men and the outside world in a big way. With a massive genocide having occurred on Genosha, the stage is set for mutants to really tap into their dark sides. In the process, X-Men '97 could take a macabre turn and unleash two of Marvel's bloodiest teams.

Marvel Studios’ animated series X-Men ’97, created by Beau DeMayo, is a revival of 1992’s successful series X-Men: The Animated Series, which concluded its five-season run in 1997. Picking up where the original series left off, the 2024 series is going to depict X-Men facing challenges following the loss of their leader, Professor X.
X-Men ’97 is the first X-Men project from Marvel Studios since the studios regained the rights to the characters for movies and television. Danger, the sentient incarnation of the Danger Room, is currently working against the mutant nation of Krakoa due to their ban on artificial intelligence. Danger has the potential to be a gamechanging character in the upcoming climax of the Krakoan era, as she possesses valuable knowledge about the strengths and weaknesses of the X-Men. The X-Men have the opportunity to either make amends with Danger and convince her to join their cause, or she could be crucial to Orchis's annihilation of mutantkind, allying herself with other dangerous artificial intelligences inside the villainous organization. Each of the Avengers was a solo hero first, and many of them aren't great team players. Spider-Man neglected his responsibilities, while U.S. Agent mistreated his allies. Others have turned on their fellow heroes in big ways - Captain Marvel and Iron Man's Civil War crimes were truly despicable. Then there are those who simply never belonged on the team, like Hulk and the Irredeemable Ant-Man.

Marvel unveiled a gorgeous and exciting trailer for the start of Fall of X at the upcoming X-Men: Hellfire Gala 2023 special event, offering a quick glimpse at the official Gala costume for Cyclops. Marvel has officially resurrected Ms. Marvel–with a brand new, mysterious superpower. The idea that there's no such thing as an original idea in comic books might seem a preposterous claim to many, especially fans and readers. But Invincible creator Robert Kirkman suggests that there's credence to the assertion — at least when it comes to the X-Men.
In a conversation with fellow comics creator Todd McFarlane on Cbr's Dynamic Duos podcast, Kirkman reveals how Superball —a character he created as a teenager and included in his Capes comic book — predates Marvel's Goldballs, a major member of Marvel Comics' X-Men. Both have special abilities that shoot from their bodies literal bouncing balls — which they generate themselves.
Capes, a collaboration between Kirkman and artist Mark Englert, tells the story of a world where superheroes are a common element of society's criminal justice system. Rather than being super-powered vigilantes, however, "super-hero-ing" is an actual profession that exists alongside traditional law enforcement. In the podcast episode,...

Warning: Contains spoilers for Sins of Sinister: Dominion & Immortal X-Men #11The horrific future timeline that occurred throughout the X-Men's Sins of Sinister event has finally been reset, but a devastating twist revealed that Charles Xavier, Hope Summers, Emma Frost, and Exodus are all still corrupted with Sinister's mind-virus. To prevent these incredibly powerful mutants from wreaking the sort of havoc seen in the alternate timeline, the Quiet Council is forced to send the four into Krakoa's Pit.
While the mutant nation of Krakoa was meant to be founded as a sort of abolitionist state where all mutants were free, the Quiet Council still forced the living island to form "the Pit," a prison-like cavity that holds criminals in stasis. While the Pit has been used and abused in recent months by Sabretooth and Nature Girl, the conclusion to Sins of Sinister confirms that it is the sole power capable...

An exciting new preview for Immortal X-Men #12 reveals that, through the manipulation of the vile Sebastian Shaw and the corrupted Colossus, the immortal mutant "vampire" Selene will be elected onto Krakoa's Quiet Council, a decision that will surely have grave impacts on the mutant nation.
Selene Gallio, an iconic Goth sorceress who has lived for nearly 17,000 years, has been assumed dead since Immortal X-Men #2 when Hope Summers and Exodus executed her after she attacked Krakoa as a consequence of her first failed attempt at joining Krakoa's ruling body following Magneto's departure from the Council.
An epic new ComicsXF exclusive preview for Immortal X-Men #12 - from writer Kieron Gillen and artists Lucas Werneck and David Curiel - shows how the selfish and greedy Sebastian Shaw "manipulated" Colossus, using the 3 votes on the Council he holds, to elect Selene to the Quiet Council, much to the chagrin and shock and Piotr's ex-girlfriend Kate Pryde.

The key to Krakoan resurrection lies with the Five, and their new design is set to stoke the fires of the X-Men's Hellfire Gala. This mutant circuit is often regarded as underrated by fans, especially since they are the source of the nation's greatest gift despite barely having a voice in Krakoan politics. Meta-textually, this supremely essential component to this era of X-Men storytelling has remained almost entirely side characters. This may be about to change though, since their Hellfire ensemble suggests a huge incoming power up for the Five.
