More celebrities from Sean “Diddy” Combs’ inner circle are set to talk about the disgraced hip-hop mogul in a 20/20 primetime special from ABC to air Wednesday night.
Secret Life of Diddy — A Special Edition of 20/20, from ABC News Studios, will feature singer, rapper and actor Ray J in an interview to address recent criminal charges brought against Diddy, who remains in jail awaiting a trial.
Also interviewed as part of the Oct. 9 special is Lizzette Martinez, who survived abuse by R. Kelly and will talk about an encounter she claims she had with Diddy.
Tiffany Red, a friend of Cassie Ventura, the rap and fashion mogul’s ex-girlfriend and herself a Grammy-winning producer and songwriter, will appear in an interview to address Ventura’s relationship with Diddy. In May, a 2016 video surfaced showing Combs physically assaulting Ventura. Ventura filed a lawsuit against Diddy detailing years of physical and sexual abuse.

Alexandra Paul, who played lifeguard Stephanie Holden on “Baywatch” from 1992 to 1997, is one of several original cast members of the much-maligned NBC drama who feels that the beach and bikini show didn’t get enough credit back in the day.
Paul reminisces about the Malibu beach series in Hulu’s four-episode docuseries “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” along with fellow cast members Nicole Eggert, Erika Eleniak, David Chokachi, Carmen Electra, Jeremy Jackson, Traci Bingham and Billy Warlock.
In a video interview with TheWrap, Paul said that “Baywatch” was ahead of its time for giving women’s characters equal importance as men.
“It actually was a show where the women had the exact same roles as the men. We had as many rescues as the men, we drove the boats like the men,” said Paul, citing how different that was from other ’90s movies or TV shows, where “women were...

It’s often hard to pinpoint the precise origin of a cultural phenomenon. The opposite is true when it comes to Hollywood’s Brat Pack. The catchy moniker that came to define the ’80s cineplex can be traced to June 10, 1985, when New York Magazine published a cover story pegged to the release of “St. Elmo’s Fire.” The piece, written by David Blum, followed three of the film’s stars — Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe and Judd Nelson — over several nights of heavy boozing and douchey antics, like ogling Playmates, encouraging groupies and trash-talking their rivals. Blum dubbed the group of young movie stars the “Brat Pack,” a phrase still recognizable four decades later.
The trio’s “St. Elmo’s Fire” co-star Andrew McCarthy remembers the exact moment when the film’s producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, burst into an office on the Paramount lot waving a copy of the magazine. At first glance,...

Lovers of 80s movies know the Brat Pack. The group of stars who graced the silver screen in films like Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and St. Elmos Fire were teen sensations and helped a generation grapple with coming-of-age issues in high school. Most have gone on to blossom into illustrious film careers, but they will always be remembered for their run in the 1980s film scene. While most also eventually bowed gracefully out of show business down the line, Andrew McCarthy was one member who had been out of the spotlight since the 90s.
Deadline is reporting that McCarthy will be rejoining his cohorts for the Hulu documentary titled Brats. McCarthy had written a memoir called Brat: An 80s story and has now written and directed the documentary that is currently in post-production. The film description reads, “McCarthy crisscrosses the country to meet up with some...

ABC News’ “20/20,” anchored by David Muir and Amy Robach, won the broadcast season as Friday’s No. 1 newsmagazine in “live” viewership across all key demos for the first time in five years, according to Nielsen Media Research ratings data.
Adding in a week of DVR viewing, however, “Dateline NBC” still comes out on top. Friday shows tend to get a more significant percentage of their viewership on a delayed basis than other weeknights do, though news programming — even magazine shows — have more of an urgency to view night-of than scripted fare.
In total “live” viewership since the season began on Sept. 21, “20/20” had a 3% lead on “Dateline,” but the lead was greater in the advertiser-coveted age demographics. In the 18-to-49 demo, the 9 p.m. Et show was up by 25% while in the 25-to-54 range, its lead was 17%.
The season, which capped Wednesday, drew a total of 3.141 million Live + Same Day viewers,...

Janice Johnston has been promoted to executive producer of ABC’s newsmagazine 20/20.
Johnston, who has been senior producer of the show, is only the fourth person to lead the show as EP since its launch in 1978 (with original hosts Harold Hayes and Robert Hughes quickly replaced by Hugh Downs).
Johnston will report to David Sloan, senior executive producer of network primetime content, who oversees the news division’s primetime programming.
In a memo to staff, ABC News President James Goldston wrote that Johnston has “been at the helm of critical programming in the last year, including our two-hour broadcast on Vanessa Guillen and three breaking news specials on the Covid-19 pandemic. Janice also led two-hour 20/20 events on John Lennon’s life, legacy and last days, the Yosemite Serial Killer and Robin Roberts’ interviews with three women kidnapped and held captive in Cleveland for a decade.”

Getting quality footage for a competitive newsmagazine is tricky under normal circumstances, but ABC News’ “20/20” had a “wake-up call” about just how hard it would be once everyone was working remotely during the pandemic, according to senior executive producer David Sloan.
“Last March’s lockdown was a wake-up call,” Sloan told TheWrap. “In order to stay on the air with original episodes, we knew we had to reinvent the way ’20/20’ collected material for its stories and news-gathered. We had to innovate ways to remote control a lot of our production, reporting, shooting and editing.”
When it came to finding those “innovate ways” to film, the team realized that having subjects figure out their own recording methods wasn’t going to meet producers’ standards for “20/20,” which switched to a two-hour show in 2019 and maintained that format during lockdown.
