Friends raved about its charm and humor and the brilliance of animator Genndy Tartakovsky. So, the arrival of Dexter’s Laboratory: The Complete Series is welcome. Two of Nickelodeon's biggest titles are heading to Netflix with new, original movies. It's been announced that the network will produce movies for the streaming service based on animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Loud House. This comes as part of a larger, multi-picture deal made between Paramount Pictures and Netflix late last year.

According to a new report, Viacom CEO Bob Bakish confirmed the news during a recent analyst call. Viacom is the parent company to both Paramount and Nickelodeon. This expands the scope of the company's dealings with Netflix, as they already produce the series Pinky Malinky, as well as the highly-anticipated upcoming live-action series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. In a deal between Nickelodeon and Netflix, Nickelodeon Studios is producing two original, animated feature films based on Nickelodeon TV series, “The Loud House” and “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

Viacom CEO Bob Bakish announced the news on Viacom’s first-quarter earnings call Tuesday. He added that the deal is significant because the deal is only for films and does not involve either TV series.

“This is both incremental business and powerful promotion for the two franchises,” Bakish said on the call.

“The Loud House” is an animated series created by Chris Savino that has been on air since 2016 about an 11-year-old boy named Lincoln Loud who lives in a house with 10 sisters. Savino was fired from the show back in Oct. 2018 following sexual harassment accusations.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Loud House are getting original animated movies at Netflix.

According to THR, Viacom CEO Bob Bakish made the announcement during an analyst call today. The films will be made by Nickelodeon Studios, which is a division of Viacom. Nickelodeon Studios has a multi-picture deal with Netflix.

Created by Chris Savino, The Loud House is the story of a boy named Lincoln Loud, a middle child and the only boy in an 11-child family. The Loud family lives in a fictional town in Michigan called Royal Woods. The series follows their chaotic everyday life. The Loud House is currently Nickelodeon's number two series amongst the kids, 2-11 demographic. (SpongeBob SquarePants is the first.)

Paramount Pictures has set release dates for horror pic Crawl and Paramount Players drama Playing with Fire and pulled from its schedule the TV toon adaptation of The Loud House, which had been set for February 2020.

Directed by Alexandre Aja with producers Craig Flores and Sam Raimi, Crawl will hit theaters August 23. It stars Kaya Scodelario as a young woman who becomes trapped in a flooding house during a Category 5 hurricane and must battle against Florida’s most savage and feared predators. Hollywood loves a comeback story, whether it’s an actor overcoming an addiction or a director finding a hit after a series of flops. It offers hope.

In the era of reckoning, that sentiment seems somewhat out of fashion. “Their time is up,” Oprah Winfrey said at last year’s Golden Globes, dispatching sexual harassers with biblical finality.

The hiring of John Lasseter, the former creative guru at Pixar who last year was forced to step aside at Disney amid a sexual harassment scandal, is becoming a test case of which impulse — redemption or condemnation — now prevails. Last week, Skydance Media CEO David Ellison named Lasseter to run his animation division.

Lasseter was accused of groping staffers, making lascivious comments, kissing underlings on the lips and thwarting the careers of female animators. Ellison, in making the announcement on Jan. 9, argued that Lasseter had reformed, had learned from his mistakes and made amends.

Women in Animation has partnered with a group of independent studios on a pledge to have zero tolerance for harassment in the industry.

The advocacy group has lined up 11 companies — OddBot, Inc., Six Point Harness, Titmouse, Bento Box Entertainment, CounterPunch Studios, Duncan Studio, Incessant Rain Animation Studios, Renegade Animation, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, Tonko House and Wild Canary Animation — and hopes to convince others to join and affirm their commitment to creating healthier work environments. In each instance, the studio president and owner have agreed to sign the pledge and to have it counter-signed by each of their employees.

The move came about in the wake of an open letter that was sent last October to studio chiefs. It was signed by more than 200 women and gender nonconforming people in the animation industry, urging others to speak out about sexual harassment and calling the problem pervasive.

Former NewsRadio star Andy Dick has attempted to make a career out of being offensive and inappropriate. That's why it comes as little surprise that he was recently fired from a small role in an independent movie over claims that he repeatedly harassed and assaulted multiple members of the production. He also was apparently not doing his job very well. In other words, it was all business as usual for Andy Dick.

Andy Dick has been dropped from the independent feature film Raising Buchanan following accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct on set.

The Hollywood Reporter was not able to reach any of the alleged victims, however, two sources detailed Dick’s inappropriate behavior, which included groping people’s genitals, unwanted kissing/licking and sexual propositions of at least four members of the production.

Actress, author, and podcast host Anna Faris is the latest star to come forward with a story about her experiences with sexual harassment in Hollywood.

On the newest episode of her Unqualified podcast, Faris revealed her own uncomfortable encounter with a director on a movie set.

“I was doing a scene where I was on a ladder and I was supposed to be taking books off a shelf and he slapped my ass in front of the crew so hard,” said the Mom star. “And all I could do was giggle.”

Kirby Dick (“The Invisible War”) and Amy Ziering (“The Hunting Ground”) are teaming up for a new documentary that will explore Hollywood’s history of sexual assault allegations and cover-ups. According to an official release, the untitled documentary will also “explore the culture that enables and protects them” and “provide a safe place for survivors to share their stories.”

217 women and gender-nonconforming people working in animation have written an open letter demanding an end to sexual harassment in their industry. The letter, which can be read in its entirety on the Los Angeles Times website, was sent to executives at major animation studios on October 19, including Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Sony, and DreamWorks.

The Viacom-owned cable network has fired Savino days after multiple women came forward with sexual harassment allegations against the animator.

Nickelodeon announced Thursday afternoon it has ordered a TV movie of “Rocko’s Modern Life,” the cartoon comedy which originally aired on the channel in the mid-’90s.

Rocko, Heffer and Filburt will all return to O-Town, though voice casting has yet to be confirmed for the revival.

“What I have found by bringing these characters back is that it’s not so much about nostalgia, but a sense that they still feel relevant and fresh to me, and after 20 years, they can’t wait to comment on modern life in the 21st century,” creator Joe Murray said in a statement. “They still have a lot to say.”

Jennifer Yuh Nelson's "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the Annie Awards nominations, but the International Animated Film Society decided to give its highest honor -- the Best Animated Feature award -- to Gore Verbinski's "Rango." Both films are from DreamWorks Animation and they still have to duke it out at the upcoming Oscars in the Best Animated Feature Film category.

Besides the Best Animated trophy, "Rango" also collected awards for Best Editing and Writing. But Nelson, the first woman to direct a feature film animation from a major Hollywood production company, won the Directing in a Feature Production award! Yay! I'm a huge fan of animation, animated films are getting better and better. Not only is the look and animation getting ridiculously awesome, but I find that many of these animated films actually have incredibly good stories. Not all of them are good though, for example, Cars 2 and Rio sucked. It will be interesting to see who ends up taking home the awards this year. Out of the movies on the list that I've seen and liked we have Puss in Boots, Rango and Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess it's no surprises that Kung Fu Panda 2 is leading the nominations with 9. "Kung Fu Panda 2" dominated the nominations for the 39th Annual Annie Awards. Disney Xd, which is rebranding from Toon Disney in February, is partnering with daredevil "Kaptain" Robbie Knievel for a 2-D animated comedy series about a 12-year-old boy who wants to become the world's greatest daredevil.

"Kid Knievel," from Walt Disney Television Animation, marks the first animated show for Disney Xd, which is primarily targeted at boys ages 6-14 and their families. Knievel will serve as a stunt consultant on the series, which is in production for a fall 2009 premiere.

The series centers on a boy (voiced by Chris Edgerly) -- short in stature but big in heart -- who, inspired by Knievel, overcomes incredible obstacles in his quest to become the world's greatest and most extreme daredevil.

Matt Jones and Danny Cooksey also voice roles in the show, which was created by Sandro Corsaro. Chris Savino is the executive producer and director.
