The loss of Irv Gotti, who died last week at the age of 54, is immense. The Hollis, Queens native was a relic from an era when being a hip-hop multi-hyphenate wasn’t about diversifying your portfolio but a passion for hip-hop culture. In his time, he was a DJ, an A&R credited with saving Def Jam Records by helping sign Jay-Z and Dmx, a producer who crafted a signature, multi-platinum sound, and a label head for Murder Inc., which sold over 30 million albums from artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti.

Many fellow musicians have taken to social media to pay their respects to the artist. While most tributes are warm, Gotti’s longtime rival, 50 Cent, decided to use the death to virtually “end” the two’s feud.

Preliminary reports have been light on detail, and the cause of Gotti’s death is unknown at this time.

However, THR notes that the Murder Inc. founder suffered a stroke last year. Updates on his condition were few and far between in the months that followed.

Shortly after news of Gotti’s passing went public, moguls and artists from across the hip hop landscape raced to pay tribute to this fallen legend.

The Grammy winner reportedly died on Wednesday in New York City, his family told multiple media outlets. Although he had faced health issues in the past, a cause of death was not revealed.

TMZ’s report of Gotti’s death came after The Breakfast Club announced on Tuesday that the music producer was on life support following multiple strokes.

Born June 26, 1970 in Queens, New York City, Gotti rose to success as DJ Irv, producing Jay-Z’s ‘Can I Live’ from his 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt. He also recruited Dmx to Def Jam and oversaw his 1998 debut studio album It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot.

Alanis Morissette, Reneé Rapp, Blake Shelton, Luis Fonsi, and TLC have joined the lineup for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Fonsi will perform from his home country Puerto Rico, Shelton will take the stage in Las Vegas, and TLC will perform in New York as part of the broadcast, ABC and Dick Clark Productions announced Tuesday.

ABC’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration just got a little bit bigger. “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025” added several additional performers to its lineup, including Alanis Morissette, Reneé Rapp and Blake Shelton.

The West Coast Party will feature a performance by Morissette. That leg of the celebration will also feature guest starring performances from Reneé Rapp, Dasha, Fat Joe, Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh, Ernest, Hardy, Kesha, Laufey, Natasha Bedingfield and T-Pain. DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic Live! starring Ja Rule will also be part of the party. Based on DJ Cassidy’sTV show of the same name, the program involves the legendary DJ handing over the microphone to iconic stars in the world of rap and R&b.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2025 is right around the corner, and there are so many stars set to perform to ring in the New Year!

The event airs live on Tuesday, December 31 beginning at 8 p.m. Et on ABC, streaming the next day on Hulu.

Ryan Seacrest will lead the countdown to midnight alongside Rita Ora live from Times Square. Dayanara Torres returns as co-host in Puerto Rico.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” with Ryan Seacrest has added another round of performers to its lineup, including a duet from Alanis Morissette and Reneé Rapp on the West Coast, Blake Shelton live from Las Vegas and TLC in Times Square.

Morissette is kicking off the 30th anniversary celebration of her seminal album “Jagged Little Pill” and will take the stage multiple times throughout the night, with Rapp joining her to sing “You Oughta Know.” Meanwhile, Shelton will be performing his latest single “Texas” and some of his biggest hits from Las Vegas. Also on the lineup is TLC, who will take the Times Square stage in New York City to sing songs from their album “Crazysexycool,” which is also marking its 30th anniversary.

The world tour will span multiple continents, with Nelly playing over 50 shows in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The outing serves as a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Country Grammar, Nelly’s debut album. Along with Ja Rule and Eve, the tour will feature a variety of openers, including Jermaine Dupri, Chingy, Fabolous, and more.
