It’s official, Gwen Stefani will be a judge on The Voice next season, replacing Christina Aguilera, who is pregnant. Aguilera will return to The Voice next season.

We have the first cancellation leading in to the May upfronts as Fox has let the axe fall on the futuristic, hunktastic buddy cop show Almost Human. While ratings were good enough to merit a second season, apparently there was no room for the show with so many other dramas renewed and three strong drama pilots. I’m a little sad to think that we’ll never see Michael Ealy ask Karl Urban where he can stick his fingers without invading personal space.

Over the years sketch comedy shows, the likes of SNL and MADtv, have proved themselves a spawning ground for gifted young writers and comedians, often serving as a launch pad for successful solo careers on both the small and the big screen. Lifetime has decided to cancel their original sitcom, Rita Rocks, after two seasons.

Rita Rocks revolves around an overworked wife and mother who tries to balance the many different aspects of her life, including being in a local rock band. The series stars Nicole Sullivan in the title role with Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Natalie Dreyfuss, Kelly Gould, and Raviv Ullman rounding out the cast.

The show was initially ordered as a companion for reruns of Reba with an eye towards amassing enough episodes to run it five nights a week.

The series debuted in October of 2008 with a 20 episode season. In March 2009, Rita Rocks was renewed for a second season of 20 more installments.

A new featurette from Beyonce Knowles-starring film "Obsessed" has just emerged. It starts with a scene previewing the first time Idris Elba's Derek Charles and Ali Larter's Lisa Sheridan meet in the lift, and it continues showing Lisa's effort to flirt with Derek.

A commentary from Elba and Larter is also provided. Elba describes Derek as a man who "is not trying to start relationship with her [Lisa]. He's just trying to be nice." Larter meanwhile calls her "character's point of view is about a woman who falls in love and will do anything that she can" to keep the man she loves.

Lifetime has renewed comedy "Rita Rocks" for a second season with a 20-episode order.

"It's smart, it's funny and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself," said Lifetime's exec vp entertainment JoAnn Alfano.

Developed as a companion piece for Lifetime's well performing repeats of "Reba," the Mrc-produced "Rita Rocks" stars Nicole Sullivan as an overworked mom who forms a garage band.

Co-starring on the series are Richard Ruccolo as Rita's husband, Jay, and Tisha Campbell-Martin as her friend and bandmate, Patty.

Production on the second season of "Rita" is slated to begin immediately.

Series creators Stan Zimmerman and Jim Berg will serve as showrunners and will continue to exec produce alongside Mindy Schulthesis and Michael Hanel.

A marriage life of Beyonce Knowles' Beth Charles and Idris Elba's Derek Charles is revealed through a newly-outed trailer preview of movie "Obsessed". Bringing out exclusively the preview to the movie's trailer is Entertainment Tonight.

Starting with a scene showing Beth lying on the bed with husband Derek, the trailer preview quickly moves to capture Derek involved in an affair with Lisa Sheridan, played by Ali Larter, during a seemingly to be drunken night at a club. Lifetime has given a full-season pickup to "Rita Rocks."

The network has ordered seven additional episodes of the comedy series from Media Rights Capital, bringing the first-season order to 20.

"Rita," starring Nicole Sullivan as a wife and mother who forms a garage band, premiered Oct. 20, airing as a strip for a week before moving into its regular time slot at 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The series, which marks Lifetime's first original comedy in 10 years, is averaging 956,000 viewers per first-run episode.

" 'Rita Rocks' was developed as a companion to Lifetime's most popular comedy, 'Reba,' and 'Rita Rocks' has either built on or held the 'Reba' audience for five of the first six original episodes," Lifetime executive vp entertainment JoAnn Alfano said. "Having a nearly 100% audience retention rate is unheard of when launching a new comedy, but 'Rita Rocks' has achieved that feat."

Lifetime has yet another treat for comedy fans out there. The network recently picked up its first original comedy in a decade. Created and executively produced by Stan Zimmerman and Jim Berg, Rita Rocks is set to hit Lifetime in the fall, with 13 episodes ordered by the network, to be produced by Media Rights Capital. Lifetime has paired Rita Rocks with their off-net run of Reba in a one-hour block that promises laughter and fun.

Raines star Nicole Sullivan is set to star as Rita, a woman whose unfulfilled life as a married, working mother who rediscovers her spunk when she becomes a musician in a garage band. Co-starring in the comedy offering are Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Kelly Gould and Raviv Ullman.

Lifetime has picked up half-hour comedy "Rita Rocks" to series.

The cable network ordered 13 episodes of the sitcom, from Media Rights Capital, for a fall premiere.

"Rita" stars Nicole Sullivan as Rita Clements, who, unfulfilled by her harried life as a married, working mom, regains her identity by re-creating her glory days as a musician in a garage band. Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Kelly Gould and Raviv Ullman also star.

"Rita", which will air as part of a one-hour comedy block alongside off-net sitcom "Reba", marks Lifetime's first new original primetime comedy series since "Maggie" and "Oh Baby" debuted in 1998. "Maggie" ended its run in 1999, and "Baby" bowed out the following year. (Other recent comedy efforts, including "Lovespring International", aired outside of primetime.)

"Our loyal viewers are fans of our comedy programming, and we know they will think Rita rocks too," Lifetime president of entertainment Susanne Daniels said.

Meanwhile, Nicole Sullivan has been tapped as the lead in the Lifetime comedy pilot Rita Rocks, joined by Richard Ruccolo and Tisha Campbell Martin.

Additionally, Erinn Hayes has landed the female lead in the CBS comedy pilot Worst Week, and Kay Panabaker has joined NBC's comedy pilot Zip.

Girl, from Sony, is a multicamera comedy about two male best friends who own a bike shop and whose relationship becomes complicated when one (Tim Peper) starts dating the ex-wife of the other (Cooke).

Cooke recently played the male lead on the ABC comedy Big Day.

The multicamera Rita, from Media Rights Capital, centers on Rita Sullivan), an overworked wife and mother in the middle of a full-blown identity crisis who starts a garage band with her postal carrier Patty (Campbell Martin) as well as her neighbor.

Ruccolo, repped by APA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, will play Rita's husband, a handsome former jock who now spends his days working 9 to 5 in a jacket and tie.

Lou Diamond Phillips is the latest cast addition to NBC's one-hour pilot Backyards and Bullets.

Bullets, from Sony Pictures TV and Pariah, revolves around a suburban Neighborhood Watch group gone awry. Philips will play the police chief.

On Backyards, Phillips joins Billy Burke, Richard Ruccolo, Matthew St. Patrick and Kristin Lehman. Charles McDougall is directing the pilot.

Phillips most recently appeared in an arc on CBS' Numbers and an episode of USA Network's Psych.

"Six Feet Under" alum Mathew St. Patrick has joined the cast of NBC's one-hour pilot "Backyards and Bullets".

The Sony Pictures TV/Pariah project, previously known as "The Watch", revolves around a suburban Neighborhood Watch group gone awry.

In the pilot, written by Ed Decter and John J. Strauss and to be directed by Charles McDougall, St. Patrick joins previously cast Billy Burke, Kristen Lehman, Abigail Spencer, Richard Ruccolo, Enuka Okuma and Casey LaBow.

Rob Estes has been tapped to co-star on "Watch", from Sony Pictures TV and Pariah, revolves around a suburban Neighborhood Watch Group gone awry.

Two Guys and a Girl alum Ruccolo will play Jenny's (Abigail Spencer) happily married husband who always looks like he's dressed for a round of golf and is 100% behind her work with the Watch. He is repped by APA and manager Colton Gramm at Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

In the last major casting of the pilot season, Jonathan Pryce has been tapped to star in CBS' untitled Marsh McCall comedy pilot. Meanwhile, Mehcad Brooks is set to join the cast of ABC's hit dramedy Desperate Housewives as a potential regular, and Richard Ruccolo has come aboard UPN's comedy pilot Talk Show Diaries. The Marsh McCall project, from WBTV and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, revolves around three adult siblings (Jonathan Silverman, Reid Scott, Katherine Waterston) who rally to support their eccentric professor father (Pryce).

Up-and-comer Dave Annable and Maggie Lawson have been tapped as the leads in Fox's midseason comedy pilot Spellbound. Spellbound, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on a modern-day male witch (Annable) who falls in love with a mortal woman (Lawson). The project from Rob Greenberg and Suzanne Martin was first developed as a pilot for NBC last year with Richard Ruccolo and Andrea Anders playing the leads. Annable, onscreen in the feature Little Black Book, is repped by the Gersh Agency and manager Sue Leibman. Lawson, who starred on ABC's comedy It's All Relative last season, was most recently seen in ABC Family's original movie Love Rules this summer. She is repped by Ro Diamond and Steven Jang at SDB Partners and Ellen Meyer Management. In other Fox casting news, Maz Jobrani and Ryan Belleville, who guest starred in the pilot for Related by Family, have been upped to regulars on the comedy series slated for a January launch.

Brillstein-Grey Management has added Colton Gramm to its team of managers. Gramm most recently worked as a talent manager at Original Film. Gramm's clients that he will bring to Brillstein-Grey include Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood), Nick Lachey (Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica), Gary Dourdan (C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation), Richard Ruccolo (Two Guys And A Girl), Colin Egglesfield (12 Days Of Terror), Shea Whigham (Tigerland) and Corey Pearson (Still Life). "Colton is a great addition to our company," said Peter Safran, president of Brillstein-Grey Management. "Many of us worked with him closely when he was an agent and we are thrilled to have him now as a colleague. His taste in clients and material, combined with his relationships with the buyers, makes him a real asset for Brillstein-Grey." Based on a play by Dalton Younger, "Anacardium" is mostly a two-man movie that alternates between being a convincing psychodrama and a turgid verbal slugfest.

Director Scott Thomas, with many TV and indie film credits, and leads Frank John Hughes ("Band of Brothers") and Richard Ruccolo ("All Over the Guy") are savvy enough to stretch out the material for 90 minutes, but the low-budget project (which opened Tuesday in one Los Angeles theater for an Oscar-qualifying run) has minimal commercial potential.

Answering a newspaper ad for a female roommate, young attorney Chris (Ruccolo) talks his way into the good graces of blue-collar creep Rich (Hughes). Chris pays for his rent and moving-in fees with cash and moves in. While Rich was looking forward to putting the moves on a female roommate, he responds to Chris' politeness and enthusiasm. In the process of getting to know each other, Chris inquires more into Rich's methods of dating, while the latter slowly catches on that their meeting was not accidental.

Indeed, Chris claims to have had a wife who killed herself months after being raped. Rich, we learn early on, thinks poorly of women. He's a ruthless predator without an iota of guilt for his behavior. Chris informs Rich that the death of his wife left him devastated and then wanting revenge, which he carefully plans out with the help of a symbolic jar of cashews (anacardium is the scientific name of the cashew nut tree).

Issues of people taking justice into their own hands, men acknowledging their crimes and the sanity of the two lost souls in question are more or less resolved in an increasingly violent final act that's no joy to sit through. A bit of trickery at the end does not go down well, mostly because one has developed no bonds with the characters or burning interest in the tangled story that draws them together.

"Anacardium" is a calling card-like project that best serves Hughes and Ruccolo, who passionately spar with each other until neither character is left standing.
